Dr. Gregory D. Dikos

Easy to talk to. Listens and helps make informed decision. Dr. Dikos did my total hip replacement in December 2020. Three months later I was back on my motorcycle. Everything went the way he said it would - perfect! Very caring and attentive. Never rushing. Detail oriented. Very straightforward. He has a great supporting staff. I'm still on the younger side of surgery patients, but if I needed another surgery, Dr. Gregory Dikos would be the first person I would turn to and I would trust him 100%.

I first met Dr. Gregory Dikos in November 2021 when I was one day after I nearly died from sepsis due to a long standing foot infection and resulting medical issues that were unresolved by other doctors and many hospitalizations and treatments. Dr. Dikos came into talk to me about my desire for an amputation of my lower right leg to remove the infection and problems. It has now been 5 months since the operation and I am again walking well with a prosthetic and I couldn't be more impressed with him and his colleagues and staff at Orthoindy in Carmel as well as at Ascension St. Vincent Indianapolis. Dr. Diko was thorough in his observation and understanding my condition and the problems I had been having for several years as was his Nurse Practitioner Danielle and the entire staff. Great people. Dr. Dikos came into my room to discuss and answer any questions and has a great beside manner and compassionate and does a great job. Top notch and top shelf physician and surgeon

My mom broke her femur in November 2021. The rod that was placed didn't heal correctly and needed to be replaced, and she needed a hip replacement too. To further complicate things my mom ended up with a distal femur break at the knee. Dr. Dikos has been following my mom very closely through her hospital stay. He pops in her room just to check on her. This was not our experience in November. He takes the time to talk to both of us and answer our questions. I feel like my mom is in great hands being cared for by him, and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend him to family and friends! My mom broke her femur in November 2021. Dr Diko’s saved my leg. The tibia fibula and ankle in my left leg were crushed. He used plates, screws, etc and put my leg back together so it could heal. 7 months later on my X-ray all the bones were perfectly in place and all the shattered pieces now just looked like normal bones. I had a trimocular break, June 2019 and was scared for everything. Dr Dikos came into the room after reading my Xrays and explained to me what I did. He advised that I would need surgery and wouldn’t be able to drive for 6 weeks. Instead of making me feel dumb about everything though, he explained the entire procedure to me and answered all of my questions to release my fear. I had a final follow up appointment today, and he looked at my right leg and told me I was healed up completely and wouldn’t need any type of follow up appointment or surgery. The staff was very knowledgeable and explained everything to me, and helped me understand the care that I would receive. I couldn’t have asked for greater care and knowledgeable staff!! Dr. Dikos is not only good looking, he is an excellent surgeon. Its been a year since I had my right knee replaced and I feel great. I'm very pleased with Dr. Dikos and staff. I pray I will not have to have my left knee replaced but if I do.... It will for sure be Dr. Dikos who will handle all my left knee issues. Dr. Dikos shows great concern. Told me I needed a hip replacement, just what I feared it would be. He gave me options I could do if I wasn't ready, which I wasn't. He made me feel at ease. My husband and I simply love him and his nurse practioner. They were compassionate,knowledgeable,and gave both of us a new life. Hes a Great surgeon!

Enjoyed Dr Dikos & his diagnosis & straight forward explanation. No surgery needed & treatment plan was provided. No surgery needed, good news!

I have had two total knee replacements.I had a very satisfactory recovery and found Dr. Dikos and his staff to be be quite willing to answer any questions I had and to be quite responsive to any concerns.

Dr Dikos, in company of Dr Slama, literally saved my life in 2013. Not the typical knee replacement,,,,I was septic from MRSA and Between the two and others, Slama kept me alive and 2 years later Dikos did a series of surgeries that allowed me to walk again. Infection potential is high for knee replacement anyway but for me it was riskier but when I insisted we amputate, Dikos “made me an offer I couldn’t refuse” lol and we proceeded. Living was improbable, walking doubtful but Dikos did it.

I had an accident in Oct 2015. He did 2 surgeries on me. One to stabilize my ankle, the next was to add the plates & screws. I told him at the 6 month visit I was still having pain. He said to me that the pain is something I may have to just deal with & scheduled a 3rd surgery to remove a screw to hopefully give me more movement & relieve some of the pain. This surgery did nothing to help. I was still in a tremendous amount of pain. I called his office, left a message explaining I was still in pain when I walk. His nurse called me back and said again he said that I would have to just deal with it. So, later on I decided not to just accept a life of pain. I went to another doctor for a second opinion. I'm so glad I did because I found out that my ankle was rolling when I walk plus a pin had came loose and was floating in my skin. He tried a cortisone shot to relieve the pain. That temporarily helped. He ordered me a brace to stabilize my ankle until my 4th surgery. I have had my surgery and I found out that my bone was like swiss cheese. I had tons of dead bone he had to scrape out. He did the bone fusion surgery but still have the risk of losing my leg. Very satisfied with my knee replacement surgery. Doctor and hospital Staff were excellent and were focused on a quality outcome for me. Pre and post surgery directions and advice, including follow-up were clear and made me feel confident in the process.

seemed to answer your questions and not rush you...did not offer much up front information about issues, problems that could go wrong. Also made it sound like this was not a big issue breaking my foot and did go through time line of when patient could sart doing differently things...ie try to put weight on foot,wear boot with crutches, without crutches or walker. I was unprepared and work just the boot to soon and ended up messing up any progress that was made and having to start all over.
