If you respect your body, do not consult or have surgery with him. I had two surgeries with him, one which went horribly wrong, and which they did not disclose the damage done to me during the surgery. In fact they lied on the surgical report. I consider everyone involved with him in that surgery complicit. I suffered physical and psychological damage as a result of the last surgery he and his team did with me. I was supposed to be conscious during the surgery as well, but they didn't respect that, no doubt nectar they didn't want me to remember what happened to me during that surgery. I would give less than 1 star if possible. If you respect your body, do not consult or have surgery with him. Let me start by saying I fractured my fibula three years ago when I was serving in the military. I have been to countless appointments and have had dozens of images done, and for almost the first two years after my injury took place, I was getting told false claims about my ankle and my recovery... they told me that my fracture had healed after the first six months but I was still in pain and was having struggling to do many simple daily tasks and well as hard tasks. This continued for another six months when I was finally able to convince my doctors to run more test and sure enough after getting an MRI and a CT scan I learned that not only was my fracture not healed but it was only about 60% healed and this was a whole year after this original took place. I was then medically separated from the military eight months later still in pain and not being able to do many physical activities. I then started seeing the VA and got more images of my ankle and they had be try everything from the ground up again, including a bone stimulator, after months had passed and several appointments I managed to get a referral to be seen by a second specialist which is where I met Gregory C Pomeroy, MD. Mind you it’s been almost three years now and I was still having daily pain on a scale of three all day everyday, and I still had difficulty with most all physical activities. It was in March of 2019 that Gregory C Pomeroy, MD was finally able to pinpoint the cause of my pain and why my fracture wasn’t healing completely. I was then scheduled to get surgery done back in September of 2019 and not even 24 hours after getting my surgery done I was shocked to find out that the tension/pain that I was feeling everyday for three years was just gone... I couldn’t feel it anymore and this was not even a full day after getting my surgery done. Not only that but since my surgery was done my recovery has been remarkably fast and I have found myself being able to do more than what I was able to do in these past three years. I highly recommend that you see Gregory C Pomeroy, MD if you are dealing with any ankle/foot injury, he’s a great man and I’m thankful for the work he has done to get me back on the right track to feeling whole again. Dr pomeroy operated on my left foot I'm within a year the implant he put in failed. He refused to accept responsibility and repair the damage so I was forced to find a different surgeon and pay for the surgery again. At 70 and retired this created a huge hardship for me.

I had an appointment with Dr. Pomeroy three times in a year. This was for perineal tendinitis and severe arthritis of both great toes. He discovered that my Achilles and calf muscles were extremely tight and contributing to the tendinitis. I also have knee bursitis and it band issues. Anyway I had heard he was superior. I don’t doubt that. The visits are rushed, he doesn’t appear to listen and doesn’t explain what’s wrong. But is quick to tell you how it should be fixed. I am almost 2 years out and still have chronic foot pain, bursitis is finally subsiding and don’t have a life anymore. Planning on another visit. He also prescribed orthotics which have helped and haven’t helped. I’m still in pain and can’t do anything I used to. I’m so distraught. I believe he’s a great doctor and wish he could help me. The staff out front are not friendly! The wait is horrendous.

Brilliant dr!!!! I just had a reconstruction done on my left foot. Basically 3 surgeries all rolled in to one. After much research and talking to a lot of people I decided that there’s no one I’d trust more to do this surgery. I spoke with people that wouldn’t be walking today if it wasn’t for him and his name was even familiar and met with a positive reaction by a cousin who is a PT up in Bangor. He had my mother within seconds with his jokes before I went into the Er. He told me in March I would need my foot repaired soon, I thought I’d prove him wrong and left feeling confident that my new orthotics & pt would fix me. That man KNOWS his stuff! Exactly what he said would happen did and my follow up became my pre-op. I’m now almost 3 weeks out so my days are spent with my foot up but I’m healing really well and my scars looked amazing when I had my cast change. He even used a pre-existing scar that looked awful and made it look better!! Okay I’m going on now. :) He’s super knowledgeable & has awesome surgical skills. I just can’t say enough, clearly. I had originally gone to Dr. Asherman for an an injury on my right foot for nearly six months. He couldn't tell me what was wrong, and he sent me to physical therapy which in turn caused more unnecessary pain and caused an additional rupture of my Achilles Tendon my other foot. They made me feel like I was lying and told me I would have to live it because I was getting older and that stuff happens, at the age of 40?? In desperation, I decided to seek out a highly recommended surgeon, Dr. Pomeroy. In my first visit, I had a diagnosis in 5 minutes and he had me fitted for orthotics, and scheduled me for surgery. Above all, I finally had some piece of mind. The surgery and recovery were exactly what he told me to expect, and he was kind, compassionate, and confident. He was a pleasure and my surgery was very successful! He's a comedian and a genius! I have recommended him time and time again! Thank you !! I highly recommend him. I had ankle replacement surgery in 2012 and it was like having a healthy foot like I had when I was younger. I'm 75 and still playing golf and able to pivot on my left foot. I might not have been able to do that if I had it fused.

I had feet issues. Dr. Pomeroy was recommended to me. I had to have my foot reconstructed. Dr. Pomeroy explain everything that needed to be done and answered all my questions in detail. He said I needed 24/7 care for 2 weeks and was very adamant that I did. And I am so glad he did. Everything has gone as he said through my progress. I just had my last visit and my foot is at 75%. I would have been further along but I was sick for 2 months this winter and slowed me down. I just need to walk more. He said if I have any question just call down to his office! I have to have the other foot done eventually and I will go back to Dr.Pomero. He has an excellent bedside manner.

I had an injury that another doctor fixed. I continued to have pain for many months, and finally someone recommended Dr. Pomeroy. What a blessing! He immediately was able to diagnose the problem, and confirmed for me that I wasn't imagining the pain. After that we tried other non-sugical options to fix the problem. We were unsuccessful there, so eventually I had to have surgery. 6 months later (and lots of work), I am walking with no pain at all. If you're looking for a doc that will coddle you, Pomeroy isn't the doctor for you. Dr. Pomeroy had a great attitude until he joined St. Marys. His staff talks openly about patients who complain. Staff was not happy about being transferred to St. Marys. Asked for assistive devices. Was told not necessary. "You will figure it out." Dr. Pomeroy was mad that I went to OA for care for hip and swollen knee on opposite side due to aircast. He didn't seem to care after I told him that. After surgery, care and attitude was poor.

Ok, if you're looking for a coddling bedside manner, go someplace else. BUT if you want a SUPERIOR surgeon to fix you, Dr. Pomeroy is the best. I loved him. He is boisterous, and he'll tell you what you need to do. If you're willing to work hard, your surgery will fix whatever the problem is. If you're easily affronted, or aren't willing to put in the time and effort it takes, than you really ought to go somewhere else. Once again, if you want the best, you want Pomeroy.

I could barely walk due to ankle arthritis from an injury 12 years ago. He explained the ankle fusion surgery & what the recovery would be like. He was direct & to the point. Everything he said was spot on. He said I would hate him before it was over as the recovery is long & painful. That hatred was temporary. My advice is to follow his instructions exactly! Biggest issue is that he didn't spend much time with me. He was in and out of the exam room in 5 minutes. And I told him I didn't feel completely healed and he just said yeah it's not because of how the scar looked. 6 months later... I still don't feel healed from a simple bunion and hyper mobility syndrome surgery. Had this surgery done by a different, less experienced surgeon the first time, and it went much smoother than with Dr. Pomeroy.

It was a very long 2 months in idle recovery but the result is fantastic! 6 months after surgery I hiked over a mountain in Rangeley, ME with my foot straight and no posture modifications to accommodate pain. 8 months after surgery I easily completed a 50 mile bicycle ride in the Dempsey Challenge. I can't thank Dr. Pomeroy and his staff enough for giving me my life back.

Dr. Pomeroy and his staff did a great job at explaining the procedure, recovery time, and the do's and don'ts after surgery. I did exactly what they said and the recovery went exactly how they said it was going to go, no issues. I would recommend Dr. Pomeroy for any type of foot and ankle problems.

I am having a great experience with Dr. Pomeroy. I instantly felt at ease with his expertise and humorous personality. I am actually having surgery in the morning to have my ankle repaired and I'm not nervous at all as I know I am in the best hands possible.

He was very clear about the requirements for successful recovery from my bunion and related surgery, and the restrictions necessary for successful recovery. He wasn't kidding - either about the restrictions, or the resulting success.
