Dr. Hamid Salam

Dr. Salam is an excellent cardiologist. He’s inquisitive, thoughtful and accurate in his approach to treatment. He cared for my late husband for just under 10 years. My husband had severe heart disease, end stage renal disease and a complicating bleeding problem. He was in his 80s. Dr. Salam educated both of us in how to best care for him. I dialyzed my husband at home, and by the end of his illness, his heart was functioning at a minimal level. Dr. Salam was always a phone call away when I needed his input in the midst of treatment. Sometimes it was a marked drop in his blood pressure and I’d have to stop treatment, administer medication to reverse the problem. My husband’s heart was very delicate. I couldn’t have asked for more. Dr. Salam was always available. I have the utmost respect for him. And, I must say, he always treated us with great respect. He’s a great doctor and a gentleman.

Dr, Salam has taken care of me for the last 12 years and I truly believe I am still here because of his brilliant and amazing skill as a heart specialist. He is a truly caring physician who listens to his patient and responds to all needs. If I could give him 20 stars I would. He has the deep respect of everyone I know who has ever been blessed enough to have his care. Dr. salaam took care of my father for more than 10 years, he has been an excellent doctor for our family. Unfortunately my father passed away 2 1/2 years ago from other complications not heart related. Dr. salaam still takes care of my 82 year old mother and we are very pleased. Paul

He is a great Doctor saved my husbands life.Great bedside manners. I would recommend him to see my whole family. Actually he sees my daughter,sister and myself.

Dr. Salam has terrible bedside manner and seems to have little concern for his patients. He has made it apparent that his only goal is to profit by doing as many high dollar procedures as possible. Following up with his patients is not profitable, so this is not something that he does. Dr. Salam performed an angiogram on my dad without giving him even one minute of his time before or after the procedure. My dad spent a total of two days in the hospital without even one visit, despite repeated requests. When his problem was not solved, my dad went to a different doctor who found some irregularities that had not been addressed by Dr. Salam. The new doctor has been attempting to reach out to Dr. Salam to ask about the procedure, but unfortunately following up with another doctor about a procedure is not profitable for Dr. Salam, so he won’t bother.

He visited my husband in icu and I asked him how my husband was doing, he waved his hand in dismissal and continued walking.

Has the worst Bed Side Manner with his patients at St. Tammany Hospital. Came to Greet my family at my mother surgery which took 3 hours. and I was told all you need to know is she is ok and he walked off. Had no concern to tell us how the procedure went, why it took so long, was everything normal, did everything look good, how long were gonna be here for? etc. NOTHING. just the simple words that she is ok. out of someone whom has a PhD behind their name
