About Dr. Hervey L. Kimball III
Reviews for Dr. Hervey L. Kimball III
Dr. Kimball is great. He has a very calming manner and explains everything to make you feel comfortable.
I have been a patient of Dr. Herve Kimball for many years. He has performed several different surgeries on my left hand and wrist (e.g. a joint replacement, carpel tunnel correction, wrist fracture repair), all of which were highly successful, as well as routine physical therapy follow-up and cortisone injections for a teigger point issue. He is about to do another surgery on my right hand. He is a gifted surgeon who also happens to be very intelligent, caring, and personable. I have recommended him without hesitation to others, including my cousin's son, who is scheduled for his hand surgery this month.
I am a medical professional and I came to see Dr. H. Kimball as a patient. I feel blessed to find this Doctor. He provided an outstanding care. He is very knowledgeable and very professional. Dr. H. Kimball is an extraordinary Doctor. I would like to say special thank you to him, his surgical coordinator Jillian Lemay and all his staff. You made big difference in my life.
I had a scheduled in person visit as a follow up to a steroid shot in my wrist for wrist and thumb pain due to arthritis. Since I currently have no pain, it was easy to change my appointment to a Telehealth call. Dr. Kimball, as always, was kind, friendly and efficient. He formerly operated on my right hand for a thumb issue and 9 years later I still have no pain at all in that hand. I wouldn’t see anyone else.
The doctor asked me to schedule an MRI and ordered it for the wrong arm Not sure if i trust the him or the admin staff
Very easy to talk with and very informative.
During my second opinion for carpal tunnel syndrome, trigger finger, and the beginning of Dupuytren’s syndrome, all in left hand, with underlying rheumatoid arthritis and within 6 months of an opposing right sided reverse total shoulder joint replacement, I agreed to a cortisone injection to treat the trigger finger in hopes of not needing that surgery if the cortisone helped. He injected the cortisone into the most painful spot in my palm, one of 2 Dupuytren’s nodules, this one at the base of my middle finger in my palm. It was excruciatingly painful and I screamed throughout the injection especially when I felt the nodule explode and break apart. I was very embarrassed by my reaction and apologized when he came back in the room. He complained to me that I had hurt his eardrums. He also inferred during the visit that hand surgeons don’t make enough money to pay their bills. He had absolutely no empathy for the pain he caused me and only complained about how he was hurt.
He was on time and explained my condition well & what he can do about it.
Dr. Kimball treated my wrist conservatively and without surgery, so when I broke my shoulder was happy to have an immediate go to. He saw me the next day and again so far has ruled out surgery. Happy to have someone treat without extreme solutions.

Dr Kimball has been great & I love the facility & staff.
Outstanding Doctor! Carpel release bilateral with great results. Excellent communication, efficient office staff and scheduling. Highly recommend Dr Kimball and Baptist Dedham!
Dr. Kimball is an incredibly gifted surgeon. He surgically fixed my broken wrist, and also recently repaired a ruptured hand tendon (a year and a half later) in a separate operation. Both operations were a total success, and I will now be able to resume all my favorite activities including guitar, golf, and gardening. Dr. Kimball has the best, most talented staff. One rarely describes a surgeon as brilliant, but in this case I would, as his diagnoses were spot on (when others by a different doctor were not), and his work a a surgeon went perfectly for me. Dr. Kimball’s mission is clearly to give his patients the best quality of life. I must add my occupational therapists following my surgeries were simply amazed at the tiny , scars I had after both surgeries, insisting they needed to know the name of my surgeon, as they had never seen scars so small. I inherently trust Dr. Kimball as a doctor and surgeon, and would highly recommend him to family and friends.

Dr. Kimball is skilled, patient, and caring. I highly recommend him to any patient needing hand surgery.
HERVEY KIMBALL IS A VERY COMPASSIONATE DOCTOR. HE HAD OPERATED ON MY MOTHER AND MY SISTER IN THE PAST, SO I'VE KNOWN HIM FOR MANY YEARS. THIS IS MY FIRST EXPERIENCE AS A PATIENT AND WHEN I NEEDED A HAND SPECIALIST I DIDN'T CONSIDER SEEING ANYONE ELSE. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND DR. HERVEY KIMBALL AND HIS STAFF.

Top notch surgeon! Wonderful care, great listener, honest, and fixed my elbow after having issues for 6 years and 2 previous surgeries! Highly reccomend!
I saw Dr. Kimball for a serious case of tennis elbow. I had been suffering for over a year, tried cortisone and recently dry needling. I reported to Dr. Kimball that my elbow felt worse after the needling and the pain was in a different location. He seems to ignore these comments, performed a very brief physical exam and described three available surgical procedures. He said they all had the same success rate and, upon my request, stated which one he would choose for himself. When I asked what was common among those patients who had successful surgery Dr. Kimball stated they all believed the procedure would work. I also inquired is an MRiI or other diagnostic tool would help identify the problem to which he replied no. Jump ahead to 6 months after the percutaneous procedure and I was still having significant discomfort which was limiting my daily lifestyle. I went to a new orthopedic surgeon who ordered an MRI to better understand my condition. The MRI results indicated severe

Jump ahead to 6 months after the percutaneous procedure and I was still having significant discomfort which was limiting my daily lifestyle. I went to a new orthopedic surgeon who ordered an MRI to better understand my condition. The MRI results indicated severe tendinosis, my original problem but also >50% ligament tear - which I think occurred as a result of the dry needling. I had both issues repaired surgically by this second doctor. Dr. Kimball failed to properly diagnose my problem and assumed I had tennis elbow which would heal with the minimally invasive procedure he performed. He treated me like the majority of patients who heal on their own or through the minimally invasive procedure he performed. IN the end, he was wrong which caused me to undergo his procedure which was useless and suffer from my condition for an extra 6 months. Dr. Kimball may be a fine surgeon but he failed at properly diagnosing and treating my condition.
Dr. Kimball and his assistance were wonderfully patient with my questions, thoroughly explain my conditions, and previous work that I had done somewhere else, and took care of my immediate wrist injury. I appreciate the time they spent with me and am glad I have someone, somewhere that will follow me that treats you like a person and not a number. I am not crazy about having the injury, but am happy I have found this practice! Thank you all! Dr. Kimball was the most insensitive healthcare professional I have ever met. He did not listen or try and find solutions to the issues I was experiencing with my injury or pain. I am studying to be a doctor now, and the sad failure here is Dr. Hervey Kimball's inability to listen to his patients. After over a year of working with Dr. Kimball with no help, I found my way to a doctor who was able to solve my pain. Even then, Dr. Kimball was not willing to communicate with my new physician.
Had broke my elbow pretty badly from an ice skating accident. He put screws/rods in and took them out a year later. Barely any scaring and as good as new. Extremely polite and informative throughout the whole process.

Dr Kimball is the only doctor in whom I have complete confidence. Dr Kimball is extremely competent, has a tremendous staff, and a phenomenal bedside manner. I had a tumor on my hand and realized I had to have something done. I put the surgery off for over a year because I had not met a doctor whom I trusted. A friend recommended Dr Kimball and, once I met with him, I felt completely comfortable that I was in good hands and booked the surgery right away. The surgical experience was great.
