Dr. Epstein was Okay; PA's were both exceptionally good; Office staff and telephone rates a zero. Two different visits could have been handled by telephone (appt to say I needed lab tests; 40 minutes of travel each way plus 30 + minutes waiting after appointment time for a 2 minute "you need tests"). Searching for a new urologist.

Called the office about severe left back pain and cloudy urine. Was told to come in and leave specimen. 38 hours and 4 phone calls later, I have not heard back. Dr. Epstein, PA John Baron, NP Katherine Gardner, and nurses offer outstanding "patient care" even during the busiest of times. Dealing with the intimacy of urinary issues and having a predominantly geriatric staff can be time and emotionally challenging for the care-giver, yet the AUI staff at the St. Augustine office do so with a professionalism that is comforting and compassionate. Great bedside manner and explained everything and answered questions.

My doctor contacted Dr. Epstein's office 10-days ago to set up an appointment for me. Despite a subsequent follow up from my doctor's office and a voice mail I left with his office, no response was received from Dr. Epstein's office. If this is the level of attention his office gives to patient's, don't waste your time with him. Many of his other patient reviews are not too flattering either. I think that he is very efficient. His office is usually busy when I'm there. So he may seem like he doesn't have time for all of his patients. But I don't think that's truly the case. He has been very good when it's come to my bladder problems and having emergency surgeries and such. He will talk to me about my conditions and does answer the questions that I have to the best of his ability.

Dr. Epstein is a caring professional. I trust my life with him and his staff.

Worst experience from a doctor ever. Flagler hospital was great. I was told to check in at 11:30 and surgery was at 1:30. NO problem. I was still waiting in the bed with a needle in my arm until after 3 pm and was told it would be another hour. I left in a hurry. Now I see why this doctor wasn't on time. Use this doctor at your own risk.!!!!

This office is extremely pleasant and the staff are very compassionate. I have been a patient of Dr. Epstein for nearly 20 years and he has also performed surgery on me. I have found him to be very knowledgeable and direct to the point, which may lead some to believe that he is too quick in his exam, however this doctor knows his stuff! He has been on the mark for every condition I have seen him for and I appreciate his direct assessment and expertise each time.

My mom saw Dr Epstein for a prolapse, he ran all kinds of tests when we returned he said he couldn't find anything. I asked what was protruding from her vagina. He said let me do a pelvic, I told him he did that on his first visit, he looked through her chart and said she has a prolapse, we told him yes that's why we came ! Then he said I'll operate and we said no you won't.

He has no personality and he was pushing exams much earlier than other neurologists I have been to.

Back on October 26th had a stone lodged where the ureter and kidney meet. On 10/31 I had to have a stent put in to drain my kidney and help with the inflammation. A week later I had the stent and stone removed. Every since I have felt horrible and have had kidney pain, cloudy urine and bladder issues. Well, last weekend the pain level in my kidney became pretty bad. I had many accidents along with Foul, cloudy, dark urine, fever, nausea... I called the urologist office on Monday and they told me they were sending an order for a CT scan. Flagler never received it so I ran over to get a hard copy. While there I asked if I could leave a urine sample since I live about 40 minutes away and she said no. I left and went for the $350 CT scan. I got a call Wednesday morning to come in for a Urine sample. Well I had a previous appointment for cervical spine injections that couldn’t be cancelled and I had to wait for my kids to come home from School- it’s not like it’s 40 minutes from my house Now it’s day 5 of a fever and my symptoms and I’m exhausted too. I make it to the office and tell the receptionist who wasn’t happy about my sample and she goes to the back to get a cup. I leave it and another woman takes it and says it will be 48-72 hours for the results. I mentioned that the woman on the phone (I’ll leave name out for now) said she could test for abnormal results and she told me to sit and wait. She came back and said it was abnormal. I was expecting antibiotics but instead she reiterated it would take 48-72 hours. I showed her how blotchy my chest was from the infection and how I have had a fever....she didnt care. It’s not Friday at 8:16pm and I still have yet to hear from this office. Speaking to 2 RN’s that are very good friends of mine and they both said that they should have taken the urine sample first (Monday) and put me on antibiotics after the abnormal result. My kidney is spasming but I found an old antibiotic RX of my hubbys that I Started taking a couple of nights ago. It has helped with the fever and accidents but I’m sure it’s not at it’s full strength or the correct antibiotic. It was this or the ER and I am not chancing the flu on top of my kidney issue. If you value your time, if you value good caring people, if you want an office to place your trust in... DO NOT COME HERE! There is just nothing good to say about this practice. From the unfriendly person who does not acknowledge you when you walk in or even say be right with you when you are standing at the counter. To the phone line not being manned, to the voice mail being full... to the $25 fee for your medical records when you have finally had enough and choice to go somewhere else... save yourself the aggravation and find a different Dr. In evaluating this business: If they have an office manager (doubtful) I would start by relieving that person of their duties. Then I would hire some friendly competent helpful people to at least say hello and seem semi enthusiastic about helping people. Then I would audit the phone system and see why nobody answers the phone and why nobody clears the voice mail. There is so much more here say.... but hey if they want to charge me for my own medical records.... why should I give them free advice on reviving a nearly dead practice. I give this place a year before the doors are closed... I think the fee for records are probably a very fruitful income stream for them as I bet patients are leaving in droves! I do not understand the negative reviews. I have been with Dr. Epstein some 15 years, He handled my Prostate cancer and all the follow up visits with complete professionalism and courtesy. All these years since I have been and continue to be cancer free. DO NOT GO HERE. I went here because I was suffering from prostatitis. You know what the "good DR E" diagnosed me with? That I had too much coffee. Too.Much.Coffee. On top of that, I had to wait 2 hours before I was seen.

The staff are really nice and very pleasant, unfortunately the doctor was not there to see me and his P.A. wanted to schedule me for an unnecessary outpatient procedure; and i was going to meet the doctor for the first tI'm at the procedure. I think not, thank you. So, I went for a second opinion and my problem was found and solved with a 45 minutes test under an xray machine with a dye injected in my vein. No outpatient procedure needed, and I saved a couple of thousand dollars.

Dr. Epstein and his entire staff were exceptional for all three visits I have had since December 2017. From the greeting you receive from the receptionist, to the care and attention to detail from all the nurses, to the patience and cooperation of their checkout ladies, you could not ask for a better experience. I would highly recommend them to all friends and family.

If it weren't for Dr. Howard Epstein I would still be suffering with a major bladder and kidney infection that no one else could find after spending 4 miserable days in the hospital. Not only is treating my infection, but he was the one who discovered I have cancer on my right kidney. He ordered it to be frozen and now so far as I know the cancer is dead. He and his entire staff are among the most caring compassionate group of professionals I dealt with in some time. Thank You for caring.

I have only good things to say about Dr. Epstein and his staff. Dr. Epstein was caring, clear, and very informative about the options I faced with the diagnosis of prostate cancer. His recommendation was radiation therapy and I am now undergoing treatment. I will recommend Dr. Epstein to anyone that asks me.

Only doctor who would help, some of the staff is great and some is not but nurses listened when I had a complaint. I would tell everyone to give him a try, you won't be sorry.

The doctor is capable. I'd been to him before with a prostate problem. The staff on the other hand is a nightmare. The new patient coordinator Vicky is rude and completely unsympathetic. Instead of attempting to aid us in completing a referral, she did everything to discourage us. I suspect it may have had something to do with my wife being on Medicare. Several times she completely ignored our phone calls. The St. Augustine office needs a great deal of reorganization and training.

I would rather seek medical help from a veterinarian than this doctor, and you would get better service for appointments from a cable repair man.

Great doctor, got the facts and presented them to me in a caring manner, gave his professional opinion, listen to me, go exchange. I have recommended him to my family as well.

Healthcare professional. Very familiar with urology . Disorganized practice. Observing non professionals and professionals doing invasive procedures that required sterile technique, using non sterile material. Exposing patients to a sterilizing solution in exam room that is a carcinogenic. Substandard practice!

I haven't even seen the doctor yet. When trying to make an appointment by phone I was greeted by a staff member named VICKY who was extremely rude!!!

He was very friendly. He explain to me the procedure. Dr. Epstein was very professional. and conciensous. Nancy Mudry

I wouldn't recommend this doctor to my worst enemy. I ended up with sepsis and in ICU because he refused to take call. Then they expected me to wait over a month before seeing me for emergency surgery.

I would absolutely not recommend this doctor to anyone. I was a healthcare administrator for over 32 years, and have never seen a practice so disinterested in the care of their patients. I waited for over a month to get an appointment with the doctor that spent less than five minutes with me. I have a serious history being a liver transplant patient and need a doctor that I can communicate with and trust. Dr. Epstein and his office staff are absolutely not that practice! Sadly, only Uro here!
