I would absolutely recommend Dr. Fernandez to family and friends. He spent so much time with me explaining my allogeneic stem cell transplant due to CMML that he was late to his own awards dinner. He was thorough, caring, concerned, genuine, honest, and you can tell he's just a stand up guy, as well as a great doctor. He took something extremely scary and made me feel like we can accomplish this, especially since his average of surviving a transplant is 25% higher than the national statistics.

I wanted to ask Dr. Hugo Fernandez a simple question and he shut me down and totally snapped at me in front of other waiting patients stating he hadn't had lunch and he's leaving. My son is 22 years old he was diagnosed with Mild autism at the age of 2years. We miss our pediatric doctors. We went to see Dr. Hugo Fernandez and we thought he would be a good fit for our family. But the second visit after a year was horrible. Doctor Hugo Fernandez had a horrible attitude towards my son and me. He was upset because we did not do all the test he asked of us. I was in the middle of legally becoming my own sons full guardian when we first visited this doctor. And had so much to remember with very little time. So the blood work never got done. It takes so much emotionally to take my adult son to draw blood that we needed more time. However, Doctor Hugo treated us disrespectful on this second visit. And refused to sign paperwork that was important for my sons needs. He said he had no time to sign the paperwork and after being in his office for over three hours waiting on him to take care of us. I have six years and six moths that I received a bone marrow transplant and Dr. Fernandez helped me all the way through. There are no words and money to thank Doctor Fernandez and all his group and all the staff that work at Moffitt Cancer Center. I have my life back and I will be thankful with them for ever and ever and I wish them the best in their lives and in their careers. God bless them all..!!

Dr. Fernandez is the most caring, compassionate, and competent doctor you will find in the area of bone marrow transplant. This is not a job for him, it's a mission. Even the nurses are in awe of him. He gives you the attention you need and takes his time to answer your questions. The Moffitt BMT clinic is available 24 hours a day. He saved my life!

In the late 90's, at Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center in Miami, Dr. Fernandez cared for my wife. She's no longer with us, but I believe Dr. Fernandez bought her over 6 years of additional lifetime to be with us. It's all about buying time, and he did a great job!
