Great bedside manner, very thorough and friendly staff

My husband and I have both been patients of Dr. Skolnik for a number of years. I can speak to how I truly appreciate Dr. Skolnik's thoroughness and knowledge as a clinician along with his upbeat, caring and relaxed bedside manner that serves to make any appointment so much easier and pleasant as his patient. The office staff are all genuinely kind individuals who are on top of every detail and responsive to any needs or questions you may have. They could be the model example of how a medical office should operate. Although we have dermatologists closer to where we live, we will gladly continue to travel 2 hours to receive consistently expert care from Dr.Skolnik! I am NOT at all surprised by the number of positive reviews. My appointment was for my son who has a rare skin disorder which Dr. Skolnik actually diagnosed a year ago after two other dermatologists misdiagnosed it. We waited for about 5 minutes, and at the actual appointment Dr. Skolnik took the time to explain everything to us and allowed me time to ask the list of questions I brought with me, since I was very nervous for my son. He is an excellent listener and every time we see him he makes us feel as though we are the only patients he takes care of. He is thorough, professional, personable, and has a great sense of humor (he always makes my son laugh really hard and puts him at ease). Highly recommend him and his practice. I am his patient too. I’m surprised by the number of positive reviews. My appointment was for my son who has a rare skin disorder that can flare up from time to time. We waited for 25 minutes and the actual appointment could not have been more than 4 minutes. Dr. Skolnik was clearly in a rush - I could barely get a word in or ask even one question as he continued to talk over me. He left to bring in some cream and apparently that was the end of the 4 minute visit - this was made clear since he placed the cream in the room and “finished up” our appointment with his body in the doorway. When I finally thought I had an opportunity to get a word in, I asked a clarifying question and he said (while still in the doorway) “I told you this 3 times already, but I’ll tell you a 4th time” - 1) not true and 2) NOT how I want to be treated by anyone - ESPECIALLY a professional doctor. Give me a break. Side note is that the women in the front desk are lovely and helpful. The 2 stars go to them. I’m surprised by the number of positive reviews. Dr. Skolnik is the most thorough, empathetic, caring and professional Dermatologist I've ever seen. I scheduled a visit for a growth on my leg, Dr. Skolnik came in assured me right away it was a mole, but insisted to have it removed because of future concern. He then proceeded to check my whole body and found three more he was concerned about. I felt so good after leaving that visit, reassured and so confident in Dr. Skolnik's professionalism and care.

Literally one of THE BEST doctors I’ve ever had. I drive 40 mins to go see him and he ALWAYS gives me time to ask lots of questions because he cares about me. My wait has never been more than about 15 minutes. He chitchats with me and asks how the rest of my family is (he sees all of us including my husband and three kids). He removed 2 moles from me last fall, one of which turned out to be in the early stages of skin cancer, and did a beautiful job stitching them up (now I have the rest of my life in front me because he caught the early skin cancer). I’ve never written a review before but I felt like I had to for Dr. Skolnik. He’s THE best, and we tell all our friends and relatives to go to him.

Literally one of the worst doctors I’ve ever had. You drive 40 mins to go see him and he won’t even give you 30 seconds to ask your own questions because he’s “got to move on”. He keeps you waiting 40 mins till he sees you. He chitchats with the front desk ladies instead of seeing his patients on time. He removed 2 moles(I think to make more money), did a horrible job stitching them up (now I have scars on my body for the rest of my life). I’ve ever written a review before but I felt like I had to for Dr. Skolnik. Do not go to him.

I came to Dr. Skolnik about 6 or 7 years ago upon recommendation of my primary physician. Previously I had been treated by another dermatologist who I thought was providing good care. Once Dr. Skolnik examined me I learned there were several issues involving basal cells on my face that needed a much more comprehensive treatment plan, including MOHs surgery. Because of Dr. Skolnik's diagnosis this serious condition was discovered and dealt with before it became a life changing event. Since then Dr. Skolnik has monitored and managed my skin care exceedingly well. He is a learned physician who makes me feel genuinely cared for. His bedside manner is excellent; I always leave in a good frame of mind because I feel I am being well taken care of and that my health is important to him personally. His staff is likewise courteous, efficient and caring.

waited 75 minutes to be seen, which is unusual for a dermatology clinic as the clinical care is straight forward and low risk. I suspect the MD overbooks his schedule to maximize revenue. Also, be prepared to provide your credit cards for their files. If i had known this ahead of the visit, I would have gone elsewhere.

Dr. Skolnik actually makes going to a doctor a fun and pleasant experience. He is super friendly, easy to talk to, thorough, and he takes the time to answer your questions and explain things so you understand. With procedures that might seem scary to my kids (or me!) like having a mole removed or something frozen off, Dr. Skolnik is so good at putting the patient at ease - he's got an excellent bedside manner. Dr. Skolnik was kind, personable, professional, and overall fantastic! He made the whole family feel at ease, even the baby sister. We also loved that he took insurance!

I've been going to Dr. Skolnik for many years, driving 30-40 minutes just to be seen by him. I've always struggled with acne and it wasn't until I began treatment with Dr. Skolnik that I started to see my skin change for the better. He is a great doctor and very kind person that cares about his patients.

Dr. Skolnik is such a great dermatologist. He genuinely cares about you as a patient and always addresses my concerns. The care I have received in his office has always been high quality. Long wait time!

Dr. Skolnik is amazing, no one else compares to his knowledge and bed side manner. He treats everyone with class and as if they're his own family. His front desk staff is not very nice, tactful or helpful, they will cut you off on the phone if you're trying understand or ask a question. You feel as if you're bothering them. When the phone is answered they do not introduce themselves. One staff member cut me off, told me to hold on and another woman picked up the phone. I had no idea who I was speaking with or why I was transferred. Not very professional. Also, while they are behind a window and in an office you can hear their personal conversation and some of which isn't always comfortable to hear. My son and myself were sitting in the waiting room listening to the staff complain to what sounded like a patient or their family member. I wanted to say something but we were called in. Dr Skolnik is a thoughtful knowledgeable specialist. I appreciate his bedside manner, knowledge, practicality and punctuality. I would not hesitate to refer anyone to him. He is absolutely TERRRIFIC.

Dr.Skolnick has been amazing with my daughter. Instead of handshakes he high five's, which put her at ease immediately. He is optimistic ,warm and incredibly kind. I love this dermatology practice. I have been bringing my three kids here for 15 years. They are knowledgeable, kind and hugely effective at treating the standard dermatology issues like acne to the more challenging issues like psoriasis. My first experience with Dr. Skolnik was when we brought my son to him years back and his positive attitude and way of making patients/parents feel relaxed was so refreshing. Wonderful doctor and wonderful practice. Dr. Skolnik is one of the few dermatologists I have come across who cares more about treating and preventing skin cancers than doing cosmetic procedures, which would probably bring in more money for him, but you can tell that this practice is all about keeping your skin healthy, rather than making money, refreshing to see in this day and age. I had some issues with my insurance coverage and their billing person, Lynn, was able to help me through it and got everything paid by my insurance- no easy feat and it took her a lot of time. My whole family have been treated by Dr. Ira Skolnik of Family Dermatology, p.c. whether its acne, mole checks, cysts etc. he is thorough, kind, funny, honest and most of all professional. I recommend him to everyone that asks me for a dermatologist. I also feel that he really cares about my family and our health. I would give him 10 stars if I was allowed to.

I had showed up earlier than my appointment time to see Ira Skolnik. I waited over 45 minutes after my scheduled appointment time to actually see him and the girls at the office can attest that I was very patient. Once in his office, he talked the entire time. Hard to get a word in. He writes me a script, and then proceeds to tell me how I should come in for a cancer screening. Okay Ira, my skin is dark with 0 moles. He then tells me dark people get skin cancer. You can see the dollar signs glistening in his eyes. Even if I had cancer, I wouldn't want a greedy money hungry doctor like him to take me through treatment. He'd probably do every unnecessary procedure to put more money in his pockets. At the time of my appointment, I gave them a credit card and explicitly told them, you will need to call me first before charging because I maybe quitting my job soon and money won't be available. I met Dr Skolnick for the first time today and everything I heard about him is true. He is knowledgeable, passionate and informative, friendly, compassionate and kind. His staff is accomadating and friendly. I could not ask for a better experience. I highly recommend him and his staff.

We have been going to Dr. Skolnik for 15 years. We love this practice and highly recommend it. Dr. Skolnik has seen us through all kinds of dermatology issues through the years (simple and complicated!). I appreciate how he gives us his undivided attention on each visit. I have heard some people complain about the wait time but the care you receive on the other side of that wait makes it totally worth it. My kids are all adults now but they insist on coming to Concord to see him.

I've been a patient of Dr. Skolnik for over 15 years. You would be hard pressed to find the true quality of service, knowledge, technique, and compassionate and friendly demeanor both he, and his office staff offers. When you know this is one doctor you can actually look forward to seeing, you know you've found the right one, and this is why I choose to travel 45 mins to his practice location. Dr. Skolnik puts my teenager at ease and is always positive. A visit to his practice is not scary, my 15 year old is captivated by Dr. Skolnik's energy and enthusiasm.Dr. Skolnik has reworked his schedule on several occasions to fit emergency cases for my 12yr daughter for which I am very grateful. The staff are wonderful/accommodating. We have visited other larger practices but do not get a sense of good all round clinical care - this office offers excellent clinical care but in a fun setting.

Dr. Skolnik is without question the best dermatologist in the MetroWest area. He is calm, courteous, patient, and able explain in laymen's terms your condition/diagnosis and put you completely at ease as well. He erased all concerns I had and spent as long with me as he needed to in order to ensure he was thorough and that all my my questions were answered. If he runs late for his appointments, it is because he is making sure the patient before you is being honored. He is worth waiting for!!

Dr. Skolink makes you feel so welcome when you go for your visit. He really helped me out by completing what I needed in one visit instead of 2, as I am a caregiver for my Dad and time is very important. His front office staff is always pleasant and will do their best to fit you in!!

I agree with the person who says you feel like a number. The office is geared toward moving as many people in and out as possible. His treatment was not as good as what the generalist was able to prescribe. And his office policies are very mercenary. Do NOT give them a credit card number unless you have no issue with it being charged without your permission. This is an unacceptable policy in my book, as communications between office and insurance are not always perfect, but this office has no issue charging the patient whatever they deem correct. He sees a massive number of patients--the implications of which include long wait times, double-booked appointment slots, and Dr. Skolnik rushing in and out. He makes no qualms about his business model, and openly suggests that if you don't like it, you should see someone else...which is what I did. I really love this practice and this doctor. I have been seeing doctor Skolnik a couple of times per year for the last 7 or 8 years for mole checks and various rashes and skin conditions. The staff is very helpful and I have never waited more than 10 minutes to be seen. Once in the room, Dr. Skolnik takes his time to exam me and ask me questions about my health and, more importantly, takes the time to answer the long list of questions I always bring me with me. One terrific doctor. We’ve been his patients for more than 17 years. Followed him from his original practice in Marlborough, to his own practice in Concord that he opened it about 13 years ago. I asked my internist whom he would go to himself for a dermatologist, and he told me Dr. Skolnik. Then I asked my son’s pediatrician which dermatologist he would send his own kids to, and without missing a beat he also said Dr. Skolnik in Concord. When two different doctors tell you the same dermatologist, you know Dr. Skolnik must be good! He is thorough and never rushed, and his staff in always incredibly helpful with navigating our complex insurance plans. A word of warning about on-line doctor reviews: beware of knuckleheads who go on these websites and complain of “long waits”. They are most likely people who have mistaken this highly professional, first-class doctor’s office for the fast-paced waiting room they are used to at a barbershop. Truly exceptional dermatologist who is thorough and meticulous. I’ve been his patient for 10+ years, as has been my family. Front desk is always friendly and billing department is beyond wonderful. People who want a good dermatologist eventually go to Dr. Skolnik, hence he is VERY popular. I NEVER feel like a number, and I only get charged for what is my insurance deductible and nothing else, and neither does anyone else- ever. Due to an upcoming loss of insurance he completed treatment that was not scheduled. It occurred to me last week that I, my 4 children and favorite husband have been patients of Dr. Skolnik for 15+ years, before he opened his own practice. Over these 15 + years we have had dozens of visits, some for treatments and some for preventive health. Never once has a member of my family not been greeted with the most sincere welcome from Dr, Skolnik, always treated with respect and the very best care with a big smile and caring. We are fortunate to have Dr. Skolnik.

Asked my internist whom he would go to for a dermatologist, and he told me Dr. Skolnik. Then asked my son’s pediatrician which dermatologist he would send his own kids to and he also said Dr. Skolnik. You know Dr. Skolnik must be good- which he is! A word about on-line doctor reviews: beware of knuckleheads who go on websites and complain of "bills" or “long waits”. They are most likely people who have deductibles they don't want to pay, or confused a doctor's waiting room with the barbershop!

Dr. Skolnik came highly recommended to me by just about everyone I know (friends/relatives/co-workers) and now I know why: even though you may have to wait a little bit in the waiting room when you get there, when you do finally see him, he makes you feel like you are the only patient he has all day and he takes the time to listen to you and asks questions, and really cares. He never treats you like a number or just another patient: he makes you feel very reassured and that is why he is great

I have seen Dr Skolnik a few times over the years and I have found him to be friendly but not great at his job.. The women who work his front desk are sometimes rude and treat you like they are doing you a favor. Your appointments always start about 45 minutes after your scheduled time and the doctor rushes in and out in lighting speed. The office will charge your credit card without warning or previously billing you. I had to cancel my card after repeated charges appeared after my appt.

I can't say enough good things about Dr. Skolnik and his staff. I have gone to him for skin checks and mole removals. He is thorough and very careful while being friendly yet professional. Last week he took out two moles, had them biopsied then called me himself on Saturday morning to give me the results. His staff genuinely cares about the patients and treats everyone with respect and kindness. The morning after the procedure one of the staff phoned me to see if everything was OK.

Dr Skolnik found and removed a freckle that turned out to be positive for stage 0 melanoma. He literally saved my life by this early detection and referral to an Oncology Dermatologist. He was originally my daughter's dermatologist and at a visit about 7 yrs ago convinced me to get a mole check. I'm so grateful that he did and because of that, the melanoma was found early and treated. I see him regularly and wouldn't trust my skin health to any other doctor.

My family has been cared for by Dr. Skolnik for over 10 years. He and his staff are easy to work with, accommodating, and caring. I appreciate how wonderfully Dr. Skolnik explains exams and procedures - he is clear and concise making it easy to understand. He provides easy to read discharge instructions and his office is great at following up post procedure to check-in on you.

Great Dermatologist. Get your skin checked and stay healthy!

Dr. Skolnik just may be the best doctor I have ever been to- for anything! Everyone I know recommended him, and I just found out that he is also the President of the Dermatology Academy of Massachusetts. No surprise there: he is thoughtful, kind, meticulous, and very generous with his time. Whenever I go in, he answers all of my questions (and I always have a lot!) and makes sure that I understood everything. He has been my dermatologist for about 2 years now. Seeing him is a pleasure!

I have never felt so disrespected by anyone, especially a doctor, more than I have by Ira Skolnik. In short, he removed two moles from my back and he swapped the samples accidentally. When I questioned him about the report from the biopsy and the physical description of the moles, he defensively told me that he didn't have time to explain the report and that I probably wouldn't understand because I didn't go to medical school. It was a careless mistake and an extremely disrespectful response.

Wonderful doctor, and equally wonderful office and staff. Very helpful and friendly. Dr. Skolnik figured out my skin problem in about 5 minutes (another dermatologist in Concord could not figure it out and wanted to do a biopsy- can you say 'run the other way'?) and Dr. Skolnik gave the right cream and my rash cleared up in 2 days. No biopsy needed- so didn't need to pay more (I have a huge deductible and the other dermatologist told me a skin biopsy could be a couple of hundred bucks!)

Amazing doctor, amazing office, and wonderful patient-care. Can't recommend them enough. One of the few doctor's offices left that really cares about patients. My husband and kids have all been patients for 15+ years! Dr. Skolnik is like family. We trust him completely with all our skin needs.

Family Dermotology is a professional office with staff that will make every effort to secure an appointment for you when needed, especially if you seem to need an appointment right away. The room lights up when Dr. Skolnik walks in the room. You feel the warmth with his big smile and professionalism as he acknowledges you with a warm hand shake, and then gives you professional advice and care as needed. At the conclusion of your visit, you’ve had all your questions and concerns answered.

Dr Skolnik is a top notch dermatologist! Our kids have been seeing him for over 5 years and we couldn't be more pleased with the results. Dr Skolnik is knowledgeable, professional and caring. He's got a great bedside manner, which makes us comfortable when asking question after question. His office staff is warm and friendly, and we are always greeted with a smile. We trust Dr Skolnik so much, we drive more than 45 minutes to see him! Without hesitation, go see him!

I’ve been seeing Dr. Skolnik on a regular basis for over 10 years. He has been an outstanding dermatologist. I originally obtained a strong referral from my primary care physician; he also has terrific credentials (both MD and PhD degrees from top programs) and has an outstanding communication style that makes me very comfortable. His staff is also very professional, friendly and courteous.

Have been a patient of Dr. Skolnik’s for many years and just found out about this rating website and want to tell everyone how happy I have been with him and his practice all these years. He is smart, kind, and always spends as much time with me as I need. I never feel rushed. He looks and talks directly to me, not at a computer screen like other doctors. He is fantastic. I plan on staying with him as long as he is in practice, and I think that will be many more decades to come!

Dr. Skolnik is a great dermatologist. He really knows his information and is very enthusiastic and upbeat. I highly recommend him. The wait time can be long, but I bring a book and find that it's very much worth the wait with the attention that he gives.

I have been seeing Dr. Skolnik for 2 years and would highly recommend him to anyone looking for a proactive, friendly, and professional doctor. He explains everything he does or proposes to do, and gives his patient time to think about it and ask any questions they might have. He is very proactive with treatment, which I appreciate. I always feel very confident walking in and walking out of a visit.

My daughters and I have been patients of Dr. Skolnik's for about four years. His breadth of knowledge and expertise always astounds me. I may go into his office worried about a rash, mole, etc., but by the time I leave, he has put my mind at ease by thoroughly explaining what the condition is, and a prescription for how to treat it. I have looked up Dr. Skolnik's educational background which is so far beyond impressive--couple that with his awesome bedside manner, and he is simply the best.
