Dr. Murphy and his PA Sabrina are the best. My total hip replacement went exceptionally well and I was home within seven hours. The aftercare provided is also exceptional and they are there for you whenever you need them.

Dr. Murphy and his medical team, notably Sabrina, are skilled professionals who treat patients with respect and their full attention. Dr. Murphy discussed my condition with care and knowledge, fully understanding my concerns. My hip operation -- postponed twice because of Covid -- was overseen by a multitude of people who worked together like the Rockettes with the attention of NASA scientists. Dr. Murphy is a brilliant surgeon and a great leader. My surgery was completed on Valentine's Day and I was home that very night.

I knew a knee replacement was going to be part of my future. Like most people, I waited until the pain was unbearable, as the knee “shots”and OTC ointments, rubs and salves stopped working. After a few referrals from friends and relatives, I chose Dr. James Murphy to do the surgery. As his patient for knee surgery, everything is laid out for you ….. equipment you will use, prescriptions you will need, a total exercise video program you will follow to strengthen your knee and access to one of the team members with any or all questions. Lastly, the pain is minimal to none. Dr. Murphy is definitely the best “knee guy” around.

10/10! Dr. Murphy made it so easy for me getting a full hip replacement. Actually sits and talks over everything before and after surgery and answered every question i had, really helped calm me down for this procedure. I wish i had this done years ago. Finally able to walk again!

Dr Murphy explained procedure clearly. I was able to understand what he was doing and have confidence in him.

An excellent surgeon with no drama. He was there to answer questions and tell me what to expect before , during, after surgery. He talked on the phone to my caregiver as to my progress. I am back to doing all my routines, hiking, swimming, etc without pain.

I could barely walk for years, my hip pain was so severe. Dr. Murphy reconstructed and repaired my hip, which was a hot mess. Goodbye. deep, deep bone pain. Hello no pain. I had surgical pain but I knew that that pain was short term. Covid19 set me back several months, but now I feel normal again, finally. Thanks Dr Murphy.

I went to see Dr. Murphy for severe hip pain and had a bad limp , i had an x ray taken and showed that i would need a hip replacement to get back to normal. Dr. Murphy did the surgery and i now feel great , himself and his staff was great before and after my surgery. Dr. Murphy did a wonderful job .

Dr. Murphy and his staff are some of the most professional and friendly medical professionals I have ever met. Very patient, explaining everything, answering questions quickly and in plain english. My knee replacement surgery went great, just sorry I didn't do it sooner!

Dr Murphy’s takes his time to explain the entire process of anterior total hip replacement. His plan has been very proactive and positive right from the start. He answered any questions we had and did not rush our visit with him. He’s the only Dr that assured me I would be back to running after recovery. His plan of the amino acid supplements and Force Pre and post surgery hip exercises have helped me to be up and walking 2+ miles a day at 6 weeks post surgery. I have total trust in Dr Murphy. He is and always will be our Orthopedic Dr from now on.

He and the staff at the orthopedic center are all in. Welcoming, informative, caring and professional. The staff at Geisinger South were some of the best I have ever experienced. I had my surgery and went home the same day because of the Covid-19. A replacement of the right knee. Back to work in 2 weeks. I recently had my 6 week appointment following right total knee replacement, I am doing very well post-op. Dr Murphy is so pleasant yet professional. I have complete confidence in him as this is the second time that he has performed surgery on me. He showed me my X-rays & explained the results. He also assured me that if I needed anything that just to call. His staff is the best! I highly recommend Dr Murphy to everyone needing a orthopedic consult.

A huge shout out to dr.murphy and his staff!!! He preformed a revision on my knee after my replacement didn't go well!!! He explained his procedure like it was explained it happened and I am able to do most of my activities and especially riding my bike!!! My stay in hospital was good and even the food wasn't bad!!! Everyone preformed their job and was very professional!!! Thanks to all!!!!!!

I had extreme anxiety going into a total hip replacement. Dr Murphy and staff did a phenomenal job. He listens and really cared. I am 2 months removed from the surgery and have no pain. In reality, there was minimal to no pain after the surgery.. The anxiety going into the surgery was unwarranted. I would recommend Dr Murphy and staff to anyone wanting to live pain free. If I knew the experience was going to go this well, I would have had it done years ago. Thank You Dr Murphy I feel 10 years younger.

Found everyone very professional and caring

Total Hip Replacement and Dr. Murphy did excellent. It is almost 13 weeks since my procedure and I am walking without pain. Something I have not had in my life for years. I would certainly recommend him and the Geisinger South team to anyone considering Hip Replacement.

Excellent doctor and staff

Hip surgery was so much better than anticipated. I followed all of Dr. Murphy's rehab directions and recommendations. I walked a 5K just one month after my surgery. Hip is great! Dr. Murphy is great!

This was my 2nd knee replacement and both were successful. Any questions or concerns I had were immediately answered.Dr. Murphy was very friendly yet professional. I’ve given his name to several people. Hopefully I won’t need him again for surgery but if I di I’d be right back with him. He’s a true asset to Geisinger.

Dr. Murphy did knee surgery on both my husband and myself this year. He did an absolutely excellent job and he ended five years of knee pain for each of us. We had been injured in a car accident and never believed that we could be pain free again. But, due to Dr. Murphy and his rehabilitation team, we are "normal" again which is quite a feat being that we are 73 and 84 years old respectively. Need knee surgery...get Dr. Murphy. Have your rehab done at his offices because he will then be up to date with your progress. If changes or adaptations for therapy need to be done they are implemented immediately! Great teamwork.

If I can rate Dr. Murphy 10 stars I would. I suffered for over 10 years with a bad knee replacement that left my knee giving out on me and basically useless. He replaced my knee replacement with another knee and took extra care during surgery to make sure he gave me an internal brace by extra stitching. I've been able to bend this knee to almost the full extent and use it as if it was never replaced. Unfortunately my hip is now giving me pain and I know a hip replacement is near. I would not go to anyone but Dr. Murphy even though I no longer live in PA. I will make the trip north for this! Can't say enough about him.

Dr. Murphy is highly recommended by me. Before I had the parcel knee surgery on my right knee I could hardly walk and my quality of life just wasn't there. Oh and the pain was terrible. Now after the surgery I could walk normal and NO more pain! I also had the left knee done 5 weeks later and the same outcome. Now I have my quality of life back and will be able to play with my grandchild. Thank you Dr. Murphy!
