Dr. Janet D Geiger

If I could give this person a zero, I would. Almost 16 years ago, I gave birth to twin girls who were 5 weeks early. We saw a physician at the group where Dr. Geiger had previously worked, Laurelwood Pediatrics. My young son had been seeing one of the founding doctors in the group. We started seeing Dr.Geiger when our regular doctor did not have an appointment. So we continued seeing her with our twin daughters. She seemed very nice and so it seemed ok. But nice does not equal competence. My twin Alexandra was diagnosed with a heart murmur by Dr. Geiger. She kept telling me that it would “pass” and to continue bringing her in to be checked. I brought her back to the office a few weeks later for a check and Dr.Geiger listened with her stethoscope and stated “well it’s still there” after listening to my daughters heart for the murmur. She then stated she was going to get someone else to “have a listen”. She was going to get the founding partner of the group to listen. She returned with a younger doctor because the other doctor was busy. He then listened to her heart and then looked at Dr Geiger and they did not say anything for a few seconds. They then stated “ we think it will pass”. Four days later my daughter passed away at home. We donated her heart and discovered by accident that she had a defect that is common in premature babies, It would have been caught and corrected at Lebonheur hospital has this incompetent person had the intelligence to send us for further testing instead of playing a guessing game with my child’s life. My other twin was immediately taken to Lebonheur for testing after my father-in-law’s former resident got her in to see a pediatric cardiologist. She wore a monitor for 6 months due to problems that were not detected or diagnosed by Dr Geiger. Do yourself a favor and find someone who is competent to care for your children. Rating or commenting on this type of behavior cannot touch the pain she caused my family with her negligence! If I could give this person a zero, I would. I will definitely give 5 stars ( I agree the front desk was not not very friendly when we went there) . My 2 kids saw Dr. Geiger from 2009 until 2017 until we moved out of Memphis. She is a very nice and responsible doctor. My kids loved her. Today I need some immunization record information after I have not seen her for 2 years and she replied in 10 mins. My son has been her patient since he was 6 weeks old. He ADORES her. There are not enough positive adjectives to describe her: caring, a good interrogator, fantastic listener, probing diagnostician, invested in his emotional health as well as his physical well being, takes as much time as needed with him. My son is now 18 and we dread the day we have to leave her care.

Dr Geiger is a very passionate and caring doctor. Very informative and knowledgeable. The front desk is a little unprofessional MOST of the time but the doctor is amazing

Dr Geiger is a wonderful doctor. She is throughout and conscientious. I have been grateful for her medical guidance for more than 10 years.

I absolutely love Dr. Geiger. The problem is her staff. They are the most discourteous people on the planet. If you like to be talked over, laughed at, and hassled, then, by all means, go here. If only you could reach Dr. Geiger directly. But no. You have to go through the awful people at the desk. After over 4 years of going to River City Pediatrics, I have requested my child's records and am going elsewhere. I absolutely love Dr. Geiger. The problem is her staff. If you enjoy rude, discourteous staff, who will talk over you and not be the least bit helpful in scheduling an appointment, then this is the place for you. While Dr. Geiger is wonderful, I would not send my worst enemy here. The front desk staff is just that unprofessional, which does not bode well for this practice. After 4+ years, I have asked for my child's records and will be going elsewhere.

Staff is rude. Dr. Geiger is awesome.

She is such a wonderful physician. I would recommend her to anyone that's looking for a pediatrician for their child. My daughter absolutely love Dr. Geiger!
