Mr. Slama is an excellent doctor, if you are a trans person I recommend going to him, my surgery was very good, he explained everything I should be, I was well attended, and his team treated me very well , I am very grateful for everything

I love Dr. Slama! He has been so nice, genuine and patient with me from the day I met him. He has made every procedure as comfortable as possible and I go into surgery feeling extremely confident. The whole staff including nurses and reception have been wonderful to work and communicate with. I love the team they have! Thank you!

It take countless referrals ( 4) to have a consult with him . His attitude is very negative . He seems nice but is not helpful to trans patients . I wouldn't trust him if it was something important to you. go elsewhere .

I just cancelled my surgery with him after putting up with him, his ditzy secretaries, and and another surgeon who works with him in the operating room. One of his secretaries called me up less than 24 hours before my presurgery appointment telling me she wanted me to come in at eight in the morning to meet with him. That presurgery appointment was made a week in advance, so I had time to prepare. Then this ditz secretary of Slama's calls me up less than twenty-four hours before this appointment, which was scheduled for ten in the morning, telling me that I needed to come in two hours earlier see Slama. Slama and Robert Oates (the other surgeon who works with him)know I live in Marlborough. Getting into Boston requires a long commuter rail trip, and getting into the city can be difficult from that distance; especially at that time. When this secretary called me to "ax" if I could come in the next morning, I explained this to her and asked if there were other dates and times I could come in; this was such short notice. I asked if I could have this meeting with Slama the day before the surgery. She said that wasn't possible because it was too close to the surgery date. They could have notified me about this meeting with him much earlier. When I was initially told to consult with Slama, I was given his secretary, Suprja's, number. It took her weeks, weeks to get back to me! When I eventually had this meeting with Slama, which was at eight in the morning,(I had time to prepare that time since it was booked a while in advance)I asked if I would need to abstain from alcohol before the surgery, and he said he'd get back to me with an answer. He never did. I called one of his ditzy secretaries asking if he could get back to me since I hadn't gotten a response and was told he'd left the country. Couldn't he have relayed this answer I was waiting for through an e-mail or something? If you are an SRS patient and you are seeing Dr. Oates, you may be told to have a consultation with Slama. Slama never got to work on me, but I wouldn't recommend him. His staff seems inept and clueless. He seems like an inconsiderate jerk. I have found out that MassHealth will pay for out of state SRS surgery. You are not limited to Dr. Oates and Slama. I wish I'd known this over a year ago when I first got in touch with Oates. If you are transgendered and on MassHealth , you don't have to go through these two jerks.
