Dr. Javad Parvizi

I was very fortunate to hear about Dr, Parvizi from a former patient of his who performed an extensive search throughout the metropolitan area in her quest to find the best surgeon to fit her needs. My first meeting with Dr. Parvizi proved to me that this man was so confident in his ability to perform the surgery I would need and confident in the outcome that I was in the right place. He was honest and told me he would make his surgical decisions once he got inside and saw what was going on. Fortunately he was able to perform the least INVASIVE PROCEDURE which makes the recovery with no restrictions music to my ears. I felt as if I was the only patient in the hospital as everyone was focused on me and my care and comfort. Dr. P has given me a bright future to look forward to. Unfortunately I was not able to give him the hug he so well deserved as he left for vacation. Thanks so much.

I kept coming to him with so much pain. I let him know my primary dr had me on prescription Vicodin just to sleep . He kept dismissing me saying everything on the mri reports always came back fine . Then finally after like over a year of when I first saw him , it might have been even 2 years, he popped in the actual mri cd/ disc and saw I had a labrum tear this whole time . I can’t believe someone with his expertise wouldn’t think that the person reading the mri may have missed something , and the report is wrong . He did the surgery . It went very well , but he seemed weird about me still being in a lot of pain . I think it was just because my labrum was torn for so long that my nerves n muscles were fried . I even figured it’d prolly take some time after being in that much pain for it to calm down . Anyway , awhile later ( way after my follow up appointments were done ) it calmed down n felt great . He’s a rear surgeon , I’d let him do actual surgery on me again , he’s just bad diagnosing it . Like I said , all the times I went there, he trusted the report n never looked at the disc n kept sending me home with a torn labrum ( which is a super painful injury ) and then gave me the feeling that the surgery didn’t work because I still had pain a few months after surgery ( everything just needed time to calm down because it was hurt so bad for so long )

I have seen Dr. Parvizi for years. He always takes time to go over my x-rays in detail and talk about when surgeries would be right for my hips and my life. A superb doctor.

You will not find a better surgeon. I got two new knees, and a new life. Thank you.

Courteus and Professional service Dr Parvizi takes time be thorough in letting patient understand knowledge of procedure expected. As well as professional mannerism.

I went to Dr. Parvisi for a joint replacement after a history of 14 previous surgeries and a serious joint infection. Dr. Parvisi took precautions post-surgery to mitigate the risk of infection. I am 4 weeks out and doing fantastic. As well, he cleaned up the scars from previous surgeries and the new line is so fine I can hardly see it. He is an exceptional doctor in every way - his knowledge, his bedside manner and care are 5-star. I am so grateful for my new knee and glad that I chose Dr. Parvisi to complete this surgery.

Saw Dr Parvizi after another orthopedic provider unable to diagnose my condition. Fortunately for me I don't need surgery but he was able to pin point my issue and make recommendations. My sister in law had surgery for hip replacement and she did superb. She recommended to an elderly friend in her late 80's who had hip replacement with Dr Parvizi and was home within 36 hours from surgery and is doing excellent. He is a phenomenal physician. Very caring and excellent bedside manner with expert surgical skills. I would recommend him highly.

Dr. Parvizi is excellent. Not only him, but his entire team. His hip replacement was easy and relatively pain free. I was up and walking and riding a bike very quickly. I highly recommend him.

Dr. Parvizi is NOT qualified to do this procedure. I had a PAO done by him and was still in excruciating pain. Every time I would return, he would say my surgery was a success and just blew me off. I finally went to BCH to see an actual specialist in the field and they said my pelvic cuts were not healed (NON-UNIONS) and that's why I still had pain and was unstable. I had to have a surgeon at upenn correct his mistake and am doing much better. I know several other young patients who had their hip preservation surgery done by Parvizi and he botched them and left them!! He should not even be allowed in an operating room!!! This was my second opinion (Penn Ortho was 1st). Rothman and especially Dr. Parvizi made me feel SO relaxed about my hip replacement I decided to go with him. Everything was explained, all questions answered, and I now know why Rothman and especially Dr. Parvizi are held in such high regard.

Dr. Parvizi is outstanding in terms of knowledge, skill, “bedside manner,” and every other quality that distinguishes a superior physician. I have been his patient since about 2008 and would not go to anyone else for ortho issues within his specialties or to a colleague he recommends for issues outside his area. As I told him, he is one of my two favorite (and best) doctors I’ve ever had, the other being my primary care doc. Even though I have no medical training, I am one of those people who does my own research etc to be informed about medical issues that affect me and my loved ones, and I ask a lot of questions. I have encountered doctors who have talked down to me or seemed impatient with my questions. Dr. P. has never done that. From my first visit to the present, he has treated me with respect, dignity, and has patiently answered every question I’ve asked. He is also exceptionally accessible and responsive. I was in real need of getting my knees replaced so it was suggested that I go to Rothman. My first visit was with Dr. Parvizi. Such a pleasant, soft spoken Doctor. He explained everything that would take place. So I scheduled my operation (both knees). that day. From the operation to my visit yesterday I feel so secure with this office. I found Dr. Parvizi to be camling and caring. He did an awsome job on my knee replacement. Little to no pain, went home the next day. Was able to work my way back to a pain free life and back to work in 3 months!!!! If I had to get the other knee done I would choose him again! Dr Parvizi and I have been on a long 10 year journey together trying to preserve my hip as long as possible. I can’t sing his praises enough. After many years, multiple surgeries, and many visits of me crying in his office, I’m the best I’ve felt in 10 years! He caught my hip dysplasia diagnosis after many others missed it, and had he not I probably would have been in for MANY more surgeries and issues. He is kind, professional, and compassionate. I have never felt so dismissed in my life. I was told if I were 30 or younger he would do a surgery (which would be extensive) and I’m familiar with that procedure. But due to the fact that I am 45 a total hip replacement would fix my issue easily. So I said OK! He said But we can’t do it. I asked why and he told me that there isn’t enough arthritis to warrant it. My spouse and I looked at each other confused. I said So if I were 30 we would just fix it with this other procedure but since I’m too old for that I need a total hip replacement to fix my problem. He said yes. I said We’re not fixing it because the X-ray doesn’t show a lot of arthritis. He said yes. I said Ok well I’ve been literally dragging my leg around since May 21st and I’m in excruciating pain. I’ve had the injection, I do not like opioids and I’m allergic to NSAIDS. In tears I asked what am I going to do. He said I don’t treat pain I do surgery. Then he left without another word said. I’m in the medical field and I went to see this man because of his bio, which impressed me. I feel like maybe he’s a little too impressed with it himself. You’ve lost your humanity sir. I am celebrating my 7th anniversary with the wonderful hip Doctor Parvizi gave me. He did an amazing job and chose parts for me that feel completely natural. I never think of it as an artificial hip, it feels as natural as the one I was born with. I've already gone though a metal detector because I've forgotten about it! I just had an FAO procedure with Dr. Parvizi and I don't think it could have gone smoother! I had spoke with a few surgeons and felt the most reassured by Dr.Parvizi. He answered my many questions thoughtfully and empathetically. I had felt rushed by other surgeons, but he really took his time to explain things in a way I'd understand. His staff was always personable and timely with their responses to me. The procedure itself was so seamless and pain-free. I was in and out of it quickly with no hiccups and felt very well taken care of. Dr. Parvizi, the nurses, and physical therapist were very communicative making sure both me and my partner were informed of what happened and what was next, as well as frequently checking in to see how I was feeling. They worked with me each hour to make sure I was responding well to the surgery and able to start my recovery. I was able to leave later that night with clear, thorough instructions. It's been over 2 yrs since I had my hip replaced,, results were incredible!!!,, I had the right replaced replaced by another Rothman Dr and it was done posterior. The anterior approach Dr. Parvizi used was night and day better!!!.. From the healing time to reduced pain it was so much faster to fully recover. The return of strength alone was incredible.. I came to meet Dr. Parvisi due to having a botched Knee replacement from another doctor. Dr Parvisi had to remove my first replacement and also take care of my infected knee! After a round of antibiotics he installed my 2nd knee. He has been working hard to help me recover and answers all my questions . He is a very polite man and listens to all my concerns . Dr. Parvizi was amazing! He was professional and pleasant during the entire process. I think about him everyday as he gave me the ability to return to all of my activities and sports.
