Dr. Jeffrey James Elston

My primary care physician recommended Dr. Elston, and I found him to be helpful, very knowledgeable, and attentive. He wanted to know everything about my symptoms, ordered necessary tests, and was quick to follow up. He answered the phone himself once when I called! As a retired RN, I also found his office nurse friendly and efficient. I would highly recommend him.

Very Good Doctor

If you are expecting one of those Doctors from a TV series that hold your hand and tell you all is going to be ok, Elston will not be your doctor. He is a very intelligent and experienced doctor and will not hesitate to tell you the truth about what is going on with you. No false hopes, no holding hands and maybe no therapeutic talk from him. What you will get is someone knowledgeable in the inject of autoimmune diseases, that does not sugar coat your disease and has a good and conservative plan to test you. All he asks is compliance. He saved my life and for the past 18+ years has been my doctor. He has never gave me false hope nor prescribes useless medications. If you are not able to follow his treatment plan then don’t bother to go to him. He gets frustrated because he cares for his patients’ well being. This is not a paid advertisement.

The worst experience I have ever had with a doctor. Jeffrey has no business being a doctor, especially since he seems to hate it so much. He is rude, disrespectful, and condescensing. He completely disregarded everything I said and my symptoms. He kept questioning my referral and didn't even look at my medical notes from my referring doctor. I been trying to get an app for WEEKSSSSSS. They continue to said no fax with require documents was received (a complete Lie). They asked for referral forms, even thought my insurance did not required it. MY primary doctor wrote a note, which they received. My primary doctor faxed the documents endless time, I was even present when I saw fax confirmation coming in. So it goes to tell you the staff on this office does a very poor job. Even worse they do not pick up their phone calls nor they return voicemails. NEVER!!!!!! I left many before I could even get on hold with anybody! When my mother called to schedule the app for the 10th time. She was treated awfully, all because she has a thicker accent. MY mother speaks 2 languages. I speak 3 and IM A NURSEEEEE IN THE USA!!! So how disrespectful it is comments such as "make sure you bring a translator". One the appoitment was given the doctor itself was asking for a note from another doctor saying why I need to see him. Well lets break it down this way, when you have abnormal labs, and a doctor sends you to an specialist is because is outside their scope, correct? THE WORST EXPERIENCE with a doctor. I went with my mom cause she doesn't speak english very well and he was talking to us like we are doctors already and was criticizing our PCP when she is amazing and actually knows how to treat people with kindness. I tried to give Dr. Elston the benefit of the doubt and was under his care for over a year before I found someone else. I saw his poor reviews online but was desperate for a diagnosis and to get my symptoms under control so I went to see him rather than doctors with better reviews and longer wait lists/demand. Pros: In my experience Dr. Elston investigated my symptoms, diagnosed me, and provided a standard treatment plan. Cons: Poor communication, unprofessional, disorganized, unempathetic… further details below if interested: -Dr. Elston has poor pragmatics. In the first appointment he literally told me when I was or wasn’t allowed to talk (“this is how this goes… first I ask everything I want to know, you answer all my questions, and then you can ask things at the end.”) I don’t personally hold his lack of communication skills against him but they did have consequences to my level of care and true medical costs. -The whole time he thought I had a specific hepatitis (because I had the vaccine and the test shows antibodies). He withheld my care because he couldn’t read this test correctly. I had to pay to see infectious disease twice for them to say this was fine and get it in writing before I could receive care-this costs time, copays, and damage to my health waiting. -He doesn’t explain his rationale or conclusions which ultimately doesn’t empower the patient and leaves you questioning his conclusions. -I had to take an FMLA (during covid under his recommendations) and he literally no-call no-showed one of the appointments he made with me in which I had a deadline for updated paperwork and gave me no notice. -I’ve had to ask 4+ times for medical records. -His “staff” (the office is run by him and his spouse) actually apologized at least twice during my care because during stressful office moments (rx faxes not going through, rescheduling appointments, etc) they literally yelled at me and were unprofessional with me despite my lack of involvement. -Because it is just the two of them they are always behind (often waiting 1-2 hours in the lobby even for virtual appointments), never answer the phone, and typically fail to respond to requests regarding medical care. I hope this helps you make an informed decision. Dr. Elston will provide the bare minimum of care and legally cover himself in every way. You’ll leave feeling confused, upset, and just below the level of disappointment from all the appointments with the doctors that have told you nothing is wrong. Best of luck in your care. As previous reviews have stated, Dr. Elston is quite curt and matter-of-fact during visits. Sometimes it can be hard to answer a question or ask a question before he jumps in and fills in the rest for you. Sometimes that is the nature of people with a high degree of knowledge. He is not your therapist. However, after seeing him for several years I can tell he really does care about patients and if you ask the right questions and listen, you can get some good insight into the latest research into rheumatology. Jan runs the whole office solo and is a saint. I don't know how she does it. Patience is required when calling the office and having to leave a call-back message. If you are, she will go above and beyond for you.

This man is arrogant and insensitive. I had this experience and so did a neighbor. I would not recommend him and I reported him to the medical board.

He didn't like any of the answers I was giving him and he made me feel like I was on some sort of interrogation. He kept interrupting me and correcting me. He would get so frustrated if I didn't remember names or the exact amount of time or dates of prior testing at the Mayo Clinic, x/rays and testing. I felt like I was being tested by a professor rather than treated by a physician with compassion. I have a complex condition and he was irritated with me because of all the history. I felt like I had to prove everything to him. I consider myself a very patient and thick-skinned individual but he had me feeling incredibly nervous and anxious with his questions and his tone. He made me take off my shoes and socks and just stood there and watched with his nurse as I struggled to comply from a very high and uncomfortable position then made me walk down the hallway. I swear I'm not even scratching the surface here. It was horrible. I don't understand how this person has a medical license or any patients at all. NEVER going back. He put down all my physicians and told me that they do know what they are doing. I should have read reviews before going to this Doctor. I almost got up and walked out. I should of! Dr Elston is the worst doctor I've ever been to. He was very rude and condcenting, may me feel very uncomfortable and stupid. I was in his office about 3 hours before I saw him. His secretary or what ever she is not much better than him. Dr order all these test. When I went for my results I didn't even understand what he was saying (don't ask questions because he acts you should know all this). Good Business

I get incredibly nervous going to dr offices and Jan was so warm and welcoming and calming. She was and is delightful. After one visit, she makes you feel like they know you whenever I’d call. Dr Elston is direct, and very knowledgeable and listens to you.

dr eliston is as rude as everyone says he is. he said to me. "never mind your lupus. you have hepC and i believe you have cancer too." damn. horrible bedside manner. thats not how you wanna here you have or could have cancer. i went to the first doctor and yes. i had hepC. had it treated and i thought since he was right about the HepC even though i had no symptoms i may as well go to an oncologist just to be safe. sure enough. i had colon cancer. never had any symptoms. i have been cancer free for a year now after two years of treatment. basically as much as i hated him i owe him my life.

I read the reviews but in desperation scheduled an appointment anyways hoping things might be better. No such luck. I was sent for test after test with never any review of ANY of the results, no physical examination, and extremely rude and berating when talking AT me. There is no with, I was told that he would be the one doing the talking. Good luck getting an answer on the phone, that will most likely never happen, and be prepared for very long waits no matter how empty the office is or what time your appointment was scheduled. Go if you must, but be prepared for the worst.

If I could leave one star I would. My appointment was at 11am and He did not see me until almost 2pm. Apparently they go to lunch from 1-2 and those of us in the waiting room just sit there. In addition he never examined me much less gave me any clinical information to help diagnose why my bloodwork was so whack. He is an abomination and blight on his profession. His intake person, Jan, was the only highlight, but she appears taken advantage of and abused to me.

When people reach the point of needing to see a rheumatologist I think it's safe to assume they are in some degree of discomfort. They are seeking answers and relief from various debilitating conditions. This "doctor" offers nothing but ridicule, sarcasm, and no hope for any relief from suffering. He is an absolute disgrace to the medical profession. Do yourself a favor and run, do not walk, out of his office and seek help and answers elsewhere. You will not find it here.

A friend accompanied me to my first visit and we both had a great first impression. He spent a lot of time talking to me and was great at explaining anything I had questions about. He was very knowledgeable, kind and patient. I would recommend him to anyone needing a rheumatologist. Also, his office was terrific at getting me an appointment right away.

I booked an appointment months ago and reading the reviews I gave it a benefit of doubt by making this appointment. They never answer the phone nothing but voice mail. Finally after weeks I finally get a phone call from a Very rude lady saying I dont have an appointment there.I did everything they asked and had My Dr send over my referral and records. I wish I had read the reviews here before I ever called this place, because everything they said happened on the phone calls, happened to me! The woman who answered the phone sounded irritated and was rude from the get go. My primary had referred me there and sent over my medical records as requested (before they would even make an appointment). I have been having joint pain for a few months and my doctor did as many tests as they could and were unable to find the cause. The woman asked me "why were you referred to a rheumatologist? Just so you know, we don't treat fibromyalgia." I said I wasn't diagnosed with anything, that they are trying to determine what is causing the pain, hence the referral. She put me on hold and Dr. Elston got on the phone. He too was rude from the get go. He belittled my physician and his PA. He said I would have to call them and have the DOCTOR call him so he can have a DOCTOR to DOCTOR conversation ( in other words, the PA couldn't possibly know enough to refer me) to tell him why he was referring me to a rheumatologist. Then he asked me again, "Why did they refer you to a rheumatologist?. I said well, I'm not a doctor, but I can tell you I have been having joint pain for ... I took my 84 year old mother to her new scheduled appointment on a Friday at 12. We get there after a 30 min drive and the office was closed. I knocked for about 5 min because I could hear music and people inside. They never opened the door. I did a google search and saw someone else's post regarding the office closing early on Friday. I left several messages and not 1 call back which is a good thing after seeing all of the negative reviews. Find another Dr. This is unacceptable! I would highly recommend Dr Elston to anyone with auto immune disorders. He is very patient, caring and truly will find the right regimen to treat and improve your condition. I’ve been seeing rheumatologist for over 26 years & finally found the perfect Dr. Thank you Dr Elston Team!!!

I was diagnosed and treated for rheumatoid arthritis. I have since gone to another rheumatologist and have found out that I do not have RA. I am happy about that, but I want others to know that this doctor is dangerous to the health of all who see him. The doctor I saw who said I do NOT have RA went to Johns Hopkins University, one of the top hospitals in the US for RA care and treatment. Dr. Elston gave me some pretty poisonous medications to treat an illness I DO NOT HAVE!

Rudest, most uncaring doctor I have ever seen. I also don’t believe the positive reviews. This guy is in the wrong business. He should work for the IRS.

Unfortunately, I read these (mostly) negative reviews of Dr. Elston before making an appointment with him, and I decided to move forward with him anyway since he was also the only RA who was in-network for my insurance. I assumed others might've just had personality clashes with him. But, after having been through 3 appointments with him I would strongly urge people to be prepared for feeling disrespected, condescended to, badgered and overall baffled by this doctor.

Dr Jeffrey Elston was my Doctor in Omaha Nebraska & he was amazing! The first Doctor who was able to help relieve my asthma symptoms.

Well today October 15, 2018, was my wife first visit with this MD. She called me right away after leaving the office. She stated this doctor is rude, has poor bedside manner, does not explain in plain language and yes that he is very condescending. That been said, she highly advise any new patient to be ready for a rude visit. To bad we did not google this doctor before today’s visit.

I believe every one of the positive reviews on here are fake. There is no way they are talking about the same Jeffrey Elston. He is rude, manipulative, condescending and makes you feel like you are stupid. He walked into the room sideways while talking to his assistant and at no time did he introduce himself. He kept his back to me & spoke down to me the entire time. Instead of asking me a clear question, he would word it backwards & then got mad because I couldn't figure out what he was asking.

I'm also very surprised this man is still in business. Worst doctor ever in my entire life! Condesending, mean, carekess and a total jackass. What happened the day I saw him he did hundreds of dollars worth of blood work to tell me that nothing is wrong with me and to go back-to my GP, didn't even care what was going on with me. And also implied I was a liar when I couldn't remember the name of the rheumatologist that I had seen previously. I described him and thinks it might be some doctor he knows. Next visit he tells me he talked to him and he said he's never heard of me, in a way that made me feel like I had lied to him and he had caught me. I was so mad. Staff is rude and condescending. Scheduling my first appointment was a pain in the butt. I called in July to schedule the appointment. I was informed that they didn't have availability until September but I was cool with that because their office had the earliest available appointment date that I could schedule out of all the places I called. When the desk clerk explained to me over the phone the paperwork that was required to schedule the appointment, she spoke to me as if I was a child or uneducated person. I was so ticked that I went to the office to speak to the manager in person. I normally don't throw my education around but I had to let both of them know that I am an attorney and can understand instructions quite well. With some hesitation, I scheduled an appointment for September 11th as a new patient. Fast forward 2 months later... Hurricane Irma hits and their office was closed on Monday, September 11th. I expected them to call to reschedule but they didn't. I called on Wednesday to reschedule. They took my information and told me that they would call me back. Never happened. I called Thursday and asked to be rescheduled and after a long hold the manager told me that they didn't have anything available until November. I asked her why would I have to wait another two months to be seen. She made it clear to me that her "current patients" were her obligation and I was not. I explained to her that all of her patients, current or otherwise, should be an obligation. I gave her the analogy that in the practice of law, a potential client is just as important as a current client. Yes, the obligations are DIFFERENT but I would never make a potential client feel less important than my current clients. I try to meet the needs of everyone especially during a time when a natural disaster has hit. That is the time of all times we're supposed to be loving, understanding, cooperative, and considerate. We're talking about MY HEALTH and if my health isn't important to you from the outset then I know it won't be important to you later. She essentially hung up on me. I called to make an appointnent with this office and after the phone call alone I know I don’t want to go in there. They close at noon on Friday. I had been trying to get a hold of them for over an hour and then they finally answer the phone at 10 minutes to noon. The woman on the phone answered the phone already sounding irritated. She told me she there is was no point in setting up an appointment if I didn’t have copies of my daughter’s blood work, medical records, etc. I explained that her blood work is over 3 years old and I would expect that they would want to order new blood work. She said they want the old blood work and they wouldn’t be ordering new labs. Basically, she was rude. She was dismissive. She was unhelpful. She made her office sound lazy because they would rather I bring in seriously old blood work and labs, than to actually give me an appointment and do a brand new full work up. It took weeks to get an appointment, and then when I arrived, I just sat there until the person in the office came out to speak with me, this was after about 20 minutes. Once she was done, she had me follow her into an exam room. She then asked several questions and said the Doctor would be in soon. I was not sure if she was the office staff of the nurse as she was doing both jobs. Once the Doctor came in, he looked at me and ordered bloodwork, ex-rays, and neurologist visit. I booked my appointment with LabCorp, and when I got there they could not figure out what tests were ordered. They tried calling, to no avail, and the phone answered by stating the voicemail was full. This was all day. LabCorp then tried to fax the information and they kept getting a rejection. Needless to say, I never got my bloodwork and I was not able to get through on the phone either. I then called to have my x-rays scheduled, and was not able to as the ICD codes were not listed on the referral. I then tried calling the office, and got the message "the voicemail is full"...so frustrating...I then called my primary Doctor and told her about my experience, and I have now been referred to a different rheumatologist. Condescending, rude, treated me like some sort of criminal with my medical history. Staff never answers phone (there's only 2 people). Doesn't respond to requests for refills or my medical records. Worst experience!

This was, without a doubt or exaggeration, the worse experience with a doctor that I've ever had in my entire life. This doctor was rude, dismissive, condescending and confrontational. He didn't like any of the answers I was giving him and he made me feel like I was on some sort of interrogation or trial. He kept interrupting me and correcting me. I don't understand how this person has a medical license or any patients at all. NEVER going back.

I went to a few doctors with my initial symptoms. They tried to treat the symptoms, instead of finding the cause. Dr Elston took the time to look at my symptoms, family history, and my personal thoughts. He immediately sent me for the necessary tests and was able to diagnose my specific type of Arthritis. He was able to walk me through the process of getting me on the correct medicine to manage my Arthritis.

Since changing doctors and going to Dr. Elston I have been able to get off taking Prednisone every day! He treats me like a person and takes time to listen to what I have to say! His office staff are very nice and helpful. I can't say enough good things about this office! There is quite a long wait time for new patients but it is well worth the wait!

Dr. Elston and his staff have been very considerate of my health. Dr. Elston listens to what I have to say and replies accordingly. He has the knowledge and experience to know what he is talking about.

I've been seeing Dr. Elston for more than 10 years. I have found him to be very thorough and helpful. His staff is courteous and kind and have always gone above and beyond to help me. My appointments usually run right on time and the office is always clean. I would definitely reccoment Dr. Elston to anyone.

I have been going to Dr. Elston for about 4 years. I really appreciate his kindness and consideration in treating me for a difficult disease. I feel like I have a say in my treatment and even though I have endless questions, Dr Elston answers them fully. Jan, his office manager is amazing. She has booked appointments for me when I am sure I would not have gotten them if I called on my own. She always gives me copies of the reports I want and the perscriptions I need. I would recommend them

I would highly recommend Dr. Elston to anyone! He has been my doctor for over ten years and I would not trust my care to anyone else. I have a very difficult to treat RA and Dr. Elston has always taken the time to go over all of my options with me and listens to my opinions. We decide on the medications together. He answers all of my questions (which can be considerable at times). I feel he genuinely cares for me and my comfort. His office manager, Jan, is amazing. She always goes above &beyond

Today 01/02/16 became the worst day of my life, the night before I was not able to sleep due to health issues that I’ve been having, and I was waiting for the next day to be checked by Dr. Elston Jeffrey who was supposed to see why I am feeling like this , which became a nightmare when I go in, everything seemed normal , the receptionist behaved normally and took my info as a first visit patient . Later on I was called by the Doctor’s Assistant whose name I was not able to get , but she is a small blonde lady , about 5´6 with a hatred filled look approached me and talks to me very aggressively about some issue they had with my insurance , I try to talk to her and explain but she never allowed me to speak she was just being rude and nasty and that there was no way the doctor was going to attend me . So for this I ask her what is her problem and why this attitude and asked to speak with the doctor about this, who later came out with her , who referred to me in a sarcastic way , stating that the only way he could see me was if I gave them 300 $ otherwise I should leave , and once again I told him about this lady’s attitude and he hugged her and in a wicked smile he told me she is the best , was when I was shaken by these people and he said in English and Spanish goodbye goodbye good luck , literally kicking me out . I was with my 19 yr old son who felt very affected by this could not believe what was going on , we could not understand how this heartless , unprofessional , inhumane , cruel people run this medical office, after this episode my breathing problem worsened , I was left dazed and sickened , I regret deeply not reading the reviews beforehand because I just checked and they all claim a bad moment and experience at this place . Every review is telling the truth. I wish I would have listened. My doctors office hadn't sent over my medical history paperwork and I have a concussion, so my memory is jumbled. When he asked my to tell him things, I had seen so many doctors/specialist that I'd start mixing them up or jumping. My medical history is very complicated and long due to a rare genetic condition. He just seemed so annoyed I couldn't list every doctor in chronological order and by name. He then proceeded to ask me why I was there, as my condition isn't treatable and you just treat things as they happen as a result of the condition. When I told him previous doctors had told me to set up care with a local rheumatologist since specialty hospitals are far away, he just again asked why. He legitimately made me feel like a confused child who was wasting his time. My condition specifically is noted for patients having anxiety with doctors, if he was familiar with it, he should have known his tone, body language, choice of words and overall attitude did nothing but make me feel like I was wasting time in his office. I have been a patient of Dr. Elston for over 10 years, and I am very happy with his continued treatment of my RA. It is a disease without a cure but under Dr Elston’s care the progression of my RA has been slowed and the symptoms have been calmed. Both Dr Elston and his staff have always been very professional and have gone out of their way to make me feel like they care about me as a person and not just as a patient.

To let you know how great I think Dr. Elston is--I refuse to sign up for any health insurance unless they accept Dr. Elston. I have been going to him for over 15 years. I cannot tell you how much I trust him. I know he keeps up on the latest news on arthritis. I have been seeing Dr. Elston for many years, and have nothing but good things to say about him and his staff. They are professional and courteous, and accommodating of special requests when needed (i.e. urgent/last minute appointments, dealing with insurance, etc.). Most importantly, I trust Dr. Elston's knowledge and skill; he correctly identified and treated my condition (psoriatic arthritis) that went untreated/undiagnosed by other doctors for years! Dr. Elston has been treating my Mother for 8 years now for her severe RA and she has received excellent care. Dr. Elston is very thorough and is not quick to dispense medication without lab work and full investing symptoms. If your looking for a Doctor who cares about the patients full history and helping his patients this is a Great Doctors. Jan is the officoffice manager is also very efficient.

I have been seeing Dr Elston for my sacroilitis for about 10 years. After being misdiagnosed by several primary care doctors, Dr. Elson was finally able to give me a correct diagnosis and some much-needed relief. He always listens to my concerns and is thorough in following up on them with additional labs/X-rays that may be needed. The office manager, Jan has always been helpful and friendly as well.

I have been a patient of Dr. Elston for over 16 years. After initially trying a few rheumatologists, once diagnosed, I felt safe in his care. He was able to get me on regiment that would take several years of tweeking to meet my individual needs. For several years now, Dr Elston just monitors my condition and my appointments are fairly short. However the times I was in extreme need of care, he would spend as much time as needed. His office mgr Jan works tirelessly for him and his patients.

I saw Dr Elston back in 2015. He walks in and with head down says "what can i do for you". Never a 'Hello'. Within 5 minutes he was arguing with me basically calling me a liar because the neuro guy I saw initially did not note that I had neuropathy. i was shocked at this display of unprofessionalism. I was desperate and ended up seeing him once more to get blood results. He said I was an interesting case and gave me some prednisone. I never went back.

I have a lot of chronic pain from arthritis. Dr Elston has been very thrall on looking for the cause and how we can fix it. Sometimes he will stop and repeat what he has said to make me think. That's good I want to understand what's going on. He has a staff of 2. They have to backup each other and they do a great job.

I have been seeing Dr. Elston for several years. He diagnosed me with psoriatic arthritis, and he has helped me find the right treatment for me. Dr. Elston tells you exactly what the issue is and what needs to be done whether it's CT scans, blood work (which he monitors closely), or physical therapy. He gets right to the point and that is what I want in a doctor. His office manager, Jan, is friendly and very helpful. She's comforted me through my tears when I was having insurance issues.

I went to see Dr. Elston because he was the only choice my insurance offered. I read the bad reviews and thought I would give him a try anyway. I thought, I've been a nurse for a long time, I can handle it. I was wrong. He is by far the rudest, most arrogant physician I have ever met. I would give him negative stars if that were a choice. I do not know why he is a doctor, he obviously hates people.

Dr. Elston has been an excellent and very caring Dr. who has helped me greatly. He is very kind and caring. He has gone above and beyond to insure I had the best care.

Too bad I can't rate him a big fat ZERO. He is the worst doctor I have ever been to. And he is supposed to be a "Specialist?!". He talks down to you, and is more demanding than helpful. Very very rude and not professional at all. I will not go back.

I really wish I had read these reviews before going. Typically I do read them but for some reason this time I did not. Having said that he definitely lived up to his reputation. Not only did I wait 2.5 hours before he even saw me then he berated me and called my primary doctor a quack for sending me to him in the first place. I was horrified and in tears from how he was treating me. I also had just had surgery 3 days prior and had my gallbladder removed so I was already in a tremendous amount of pain. His front office staff is the Only thing good about this place Chloe was great very sweet, but I will NEVER go back to see this doctor I say that term very loosely.
