Dr. Herring is a rarity. He is extremely knowledgeable and skilled, but he doesn't come off as arrogant like a lot of doctors of his caliber do. He is kind, compassionate and an excellent listener. He is very thorough, explaining your medical issues and treatment options to you in words you can understand. Sometimes the wait is a bit long, but it's because he is taking his time with his patients. And I'm thankful for that because I know he will treat me the same way. He is not scalpel-happy, he tries every treatment option possible before recommending surgery. He cares about you as a person, not just some number on a patient chart. He is one of the best doctors I have ever had.

After dealing with an ankle pain for four years, Dr. Herring has been the first doctor to thoroughly evaluate my ankle and provide a few different plans to move forward with repairing. Dr. Herring was easy to talk to and very kind. He took the time ask enough questions and answer any of my questions. So happy to have been referred to Dr. Herring!

The best foot/ankle doctor in Nashville, TN. He listens, schedules additional tests if needed and explains in detail his knowledge of the problem his patient is experiencing. His surgical skills are excellent and the outcome of his surgeries are outstanding. He has been my doctor for over twenty-five years and I am able to walk today because of his care.

This was my second injury and need to receive care from Dr Herring at TOA. Achilles tendinitis brought me in the first time. This time (14 months later), it’s plantar fasciitis. Dr Herring is very caring, intelligent and communicates well with his patients. Both times, he was able to diagnose my problem quickly after asking me a number of questions regarding the nature of my pain and taking x-rays. He communicated my treatment plan clearly, prescribed needed medications to reduce inflammation and pain and referred me for physical therapy. He clearly communicated what to expect and what next steps might be, if the treatment plan didn’t work. I feel like I am in good hands receiving care from Dr Herring and his staff and highly recommend him.

What a joke … I was referred to Dr Herring from a friend. I should of dropped it when I was told I had to submit my past surgery as well as surgery notes/X-ray etc in order for him to review just to make an appt. my current surgeon suggested to get in with a doctor as I may need more surgery. After weeks waiting I was denied an appt because he felt there was nothing he could offer but how would he know without seeing my foot and getting an MRI? Big waste of time! Dr Herring himself is fantastic. His support staff, however, is not. He defends his staff and doesn't realize how poorly their customer service is to his patients.
