I have left numerous voicemail messages over a 3 month period with NO response whatsoever. It's a shame as I felt a personal connection to Dr. Tirino and felt she really cared. I would not refer this practice to anyone.

Dr. Tirino has treated me for two plus years now. I consider myself so lucky to have found her. She is professional, introspective to your medical issues at hand, timely and caring. Her kindness and empathy exemplify a pursuit of excellence. I highly recommend Dr. Tirino and her services to anyone seeking support, counsel toward healing or advice. Five stars, she should have 10 stars if there were such a measure of providing care.

Nope. My personal advise is avoid her. After a 2017 consultation for a minor 15% hearing loss in one ear she said a stepedectomy surgery would improve the hearing in that ear. The loss was BARELY noticeable really but I was interested in improving it as I was having a hard time comprehending customers in large meeting rooms. She explained that 95% of people have improvement and 5% have no improvement and there was no risk to additional hearing loss. She recommended the surgery based on only her using a single diagnostic tool of a tuning fork stuck to the back of my skull to rule out nerve damage. Did surgery and had major worsened hearing in that ear to a 80-85% loss! THEN she ordered a CT imaging to see what root cause was and turns out my original hearing loss was due to superior canal dissonance (SCD). SCD based loss cannot be improved with a stepedectomy. She never once said there was a chance for reduced hearing! When I pressed her about it she said there was no “protocol” to do imaging first before surgery (I talked to two other well respected ontogologists in ATL and they both said a CT first is a must and when I google I find several hospitals have online posted protocols that a CT to rule out SCD is a must first step). She then had the gall to offer me a hearing aid for $2600 cost! I have a dramatically reduced quality of life and wish I could sue her but Georgia medical laws protect the doctor in cases like this. All I can do now is warn people to use my experience as a cautionary tale and tell people to insist on a CT before surgery. Nope. My personal advise is avoid her. Doctor is fantastic, I couldn’t ask for more. The low score is for no one calling you back, not transferring referrals over properly. When you have severe vertigo and hear loss issues, it’s of utmost importance to get everything cleared up. I had to baby sit the office which just shouldn’t happen. I understand she is one of the only specialists in Atlanta, but me calling and calling, and never getting a return call is very disappointing. Doctor is fantastic, I couldn’t ask for more. She seams to really care about your conditions, and for most ear conditions she could be a great help( maybe)? But if you suffer from Meniere's disease. severe vertigo 3 to 4 times weekly and severe tinnitus Do not take her atomic recommendations. She treated me as a drug addict when the only only thing that helped my vertigo was vallum. Found a doctor that understood the condition and knew the course of treatment prescribed 2 mgs. three times daily and so far 9 months free of vertigo and also offered the option of steroid injections instead of total disruption of ear balance Almost went with recommendation of gentamicin. Second opinion has been a blessing. Maybe she will understand the condition some day and not treat you as a drug addict but know the help it can bring to her patients that suffer from Meniere's.

I have had a 35 year history and multiple ear surgeries with Mass Eye and Ear, Zane Lipsy in Dallas and others, so it was important to find not just an excellent practitioner/specialist In Atlanta, but one with compassion, ability to communicate, listen carefully and offer encouragement and experienced wisdom for my healthcare needs. Dr. Tirino and the staff were welcoming, saw me as a person and demonstrated excellent care and concern. Highly recommend.

In early 2016, my husband went in to see Dr Tirino for surgery. She assured him there was a 99 percent chance that his surgery would be successful and that he would be able, for the first time in his life, to hear bass sounds. He went in for surgery and ended up with spinal fluid leaking out of his nose, completely deaf in the ear that Dr Tirino operated on. We were in the ICU for a week as spinal fluid poured out of his nose. It was absolutely terrifying. In the first hours after the surgery went "wrong", I googled my husband's genetic disorder, the reason for his diminished hearing. He had an x-chromosomal disorder, very rare, but an obvious one (from looking at his different bone structure), and one he absolutely disclosed to Dr Tirino. In five minutes of googling his surgery plus his chromosomal disorder, numerous articles came up saying that there was no chance of this surgery being successful. Zero. Not the 99 percent success rate she quoted to him. She denies not researching it but if she had, she wouldn't have done a zero chance surgery, right? My husband was then deaf and at 50 percent hearing in his other ear. He could no longer hear clients (he was a therapist) or his newborn son. He was disoriented in space due to the hearing aid he had to wear that redirected sound. His quality of life diminished. He was dead within a year. He went from very happy to extremely depressed, then dead. His name was Andy. In early 2016, my husband went in to see Dr Tirino for surgery. Dr. Tirino performed a cochlear implant surgery on me. She did not follow the manufacturer recommendations and did not listen to me when I repeatedly tried to give feedback that something was wrong. Eventually, 3 years later, another otologist discovered that she did not insert an implant correctly. I had a revision surgery with another surgeon and it was discovered that my ear had extensive damage as a result of her faulty insertion and placement. I strongly recommend avoiding this clinician and seeking somebody that listens to their patients, takes their feedback seriously, and follows the manufacturer guidelines for how the implants should be inserted. She didn't. Dr. Tirino performed a cochlear implant surgery on me. I suffered from an eardrum rupture that would not heal. I had a tympanoplasty (ear drum replacement) in August. After a frustrating month of constant draining, pressure, irritation and hearing loss after the surgery, the original doctor suggested I see Dr. Tirino. She was super busy but did her best to find a spot to redo the surgery. She is incredible! She was very through, discussed all my options and discussed the post operative recovery to perfection. It may sound trivial, but her incision was literally perfect. It lays flat, isn't sensitive and is hardly noticeable and I am only 1 month post-surgery. I cannot say enough how much I appreciate her attention to detail and kindness. I suffered from an eardrum rupture that would not heal. I had a tympanoplasty (ear drum replacement) in August. Dr. Tirino used to be a caring doctor but I guess after seeing her every 6 months she decided she doesn't have to care about the patient anymore. My last visit was indeed the last with Dr. Tirino, after being accused of being addicted to the drug she prescribed, telling me I need to see a psychologist because I am depressed (not depressed just frustrated with how I feel), and she didn't believe I was out selling the drugs that helps me cope. All of a sudden Dr. Tirino doesn't feel the need to help the patient, she just wants the patient feel worse than when they walked into her office. I left her office crying because I have never been looked down upon as I had been with her. Since she went out on her own I guess she can treat patients like crap. Patients beware, Dr. Tirino can turn on a dime. Good luck to everyone.

I was having terrible headaches for over a year and I eventually said something to my PCP. Scans revealed "something" either on or in my skull. After much debate and a long journey through Neurosurgeons and ENTs, I came across Dr. Tirino, I was weary and scared. She immediately put me at ease by identifying the issue right away and assuring me that I was in the right place. The feeling of that moment is indescribable. She identified my issue as coming from a cholesteatoma. Surgery was scheduled and she was AMAZING. Her beside manner is gentle and calming. My stitches were tight and perfect. She even wrapped my head in a bandage and tied it off in a cute little bow because she knew I would have to wear that head bandage for three days and I might as well feel a little bit pretty doing so. It was such a sweet personal touch that actually made me feel good in the hospital. She was available and extremely responsive when my husband texted her a concern post-op. She called to clarify and put him at ease. Dr. Tirino is amazingly skilled, calm and thoughtful. I couldn't have been more pleased! I was definitely in good hands. My experience first on Cape Cod, then at Mass Eye and Ear, and I saw 2 doctors there but they couldn't figure out what was causing my loss of cerebral fluid, and they said if anyone can find out what was happening it would be Dr. Smullen (pre Tirino!).She was soothing, caring, and friendly, after surgery I was fine. Dr Tirino opened up a new world to me by correcting my hearing difficulty. Her caring attitude was evident from my first appointment to the present. Her followup has been excellent. She has always taken the time to thoroughly explain each procedure. Although I need to travel some distance to see her, it is more than well worth it. Her staff mirrors each aspect of Dr. Tirino's practice. If I could give her a 5 plus rating I would.

I recently visited Dr. Tirino. Although I showed up 10 minutes late for my appointment due to the weather conditions (I had called to let the staff know that I would be late). I waited in the waiting room for over an hour. I then waited again in the room. Only to find that Dr. Tirino had not received a copy of my test results - so she needed to contact the lab and have them faxed over. She then proceeded to spend no more than 10 minutes with me. I was charged $90 for this visit.

I first met Dr. Tirino two years ago. I had been seeing other doctors regarding repeat episodes of severe vertigo, hearing loss and being off balance. I had been diagnosed previously by my ENT with Meniere's Disease. Because the vertigo episodes were uncontrolled by medications, I sought the help of Dr. Tirino. She listened as I told her my complete past history which was 30 years with Meniere's symptoms. She offered me two courses of action. One was Gentamicin injections in the inner ear which could help, but could also allow the inner ear to grow back and cause more bouts of vertigo later. The second option was surgical removal of the labyrinth. This surgery would nearly guarantee a stop to the vertigo. It took me 5 minutes to decide on the surgery. That was done in November, 2013 and I have not had another episode of vertigo since. I am so thankful for Dr. Tirino's wisdom, advice and expertise. I am no longer taking any medications for Meniere's Disease and I am able to function nearly normally in life. The feeling of being off balance remains even after several rounds of vestibular rehab therapy. However, I no longer am limited in what I choose to do or what I choose to eat or drink. The labyrinthectomy has freed me from the bondages of Meniere's Disease and the traditional treatments for the disease. Thank you, Dr. Tirino. I have recommended you to many other people following my successful surgery. I first met Dr. Tirino two years ago. It is difficult to understate the value of someone who helps you through a difficult time in one's life like I had when I suddenly lost hearing in one ear. I was physically and emotionally down, but Dr. Tirino walked me through the process step by step and I now have a new Sophono hearing device which has brought back a quality of life that I thought that I may never have again. I am certainly not a great judge of a surgeon's ability; however, from my perspective of going through her surgery (which was a non-event and that's a compliment) she's brilliant. I recently ran into a friend at a party who was raving about the doctor who had rebuilt her eardrum (I believe that I have that right) and I was raving right back about Dr. Tirino. Then, we suddenly realized that we were talking about the same person! I could not recommend Dr. Tirino more.
