Both Dr, Balbas and his PA are very professional and pleasant to talk to.I was able to get immediate pain relief, and walked out pain free!

My shoulder replacement was surprisingly easy on me. It's the sling that's rough lol. The care I'm receiving is excellent also. Wouldn't go anywhere else

Dec 28, 2021 Dr. Balbas repaired my torn Left Rotator Cuff. He was courteous and professional each time I saw him. The procedure was without complications and he subsequently sent me to Physical Therapy. PT went fantastic and I adhered to Dr. Balbas' and my PT teams instructions implicitly. Dr. Balbas is 5 Star in my book.

Fairly good. Getting ahold of someone when I had questions was impossible. I left 1 message the afternoon after my surgery and 2 messages with Dr Balbas’ office the morning after surgery because the pharmacy said they had never received my prescription. Wasn’t able to have any pain meds until almost noon the day after surgery and was in a lot of pain. Never even got a follow up call to make sure I had gotten them either. Other than the wait times past appointment times, and no follow up calls from the messages I left services were pretty good. Communication lacks big time when you’re not in the office and try to call. Had a billing question and called multiple times to get a copy for my Insurance and could never get anyone on the phone. I loved going to Tulsa Bone & Joint for my knee. Everyone was is kind and professional. no long wait to go back to room or after in the room. Paul checked me in and Mark is the PA. Working with Dr Balbas has been a great experience, I’m currently going through an investigational treatment for knee cartilage and Dr Balbas has done extra work in order for this cartilage in my knee to heal well, so far I’m 6 1/2 months out of my second surgery with Dr Balbas and with only 3 months left in the rehab process, i feel confident that i will return to collegiate soccer at the 9 month mark. Great online check in process the day before my appointment made it very easy when I arrived for my visit. The staff is very friendly and welcoming. Had a prelim visit and X-rays within 10 minutes. Dr Balbas was a real pro. He took time to discuss my symptoms, run tests, examine x rays and explain his diagnosis. He gave me a plan for moving forward including what to expect and how treatment might go. The conversation wasn’t rushed at all. It was an excellent patient experience. PS, while getting X-rays I could overhear staff helping with an older gentleman as he moved from room to room. They were being so nice and careful with him. It made me smile. Great job. Great so far. Investigative visit. No treatment. At this point if I disagreed with him it would be like disagreeing with myself as I drew same conclusions from xrays and recommendations for treatment. Felt like he’s good doctor to know and facility is good place to go.

He seems not to care or listen

I had high hopes for Dr. B. But in the end he ordered an MRI that cost me $1000 that was unneeded and then was unskilled or unwilling to assist with my health problem. He was patient and a nice guy but only offered scope or injections as options. I know there are more out there.

I went to Dr Balbas bc I had been in a cycling accident. I had broken my pelvis in several places but had what I felt was severe torn muscle groin pain as well but he refused to give me an mri. He said bones were more important and we’d do an mri at 3 mo. The first apptmt was the only time over the course of three months that I would see him and he wasn’t warm nor did I feel heard as an athlete. I felt dismissed. From then on I met with his PA Mark who he told after two months to let me know I could ride my bike again even tho I still had pain. I thought he knew what he was doing. I immediately injured myself so seriously by riding my bike that I couldn’t move for four days. Next month he again told Mark that he wouldn’t do an mri even tho I begged and told me to do 6 wks of PT instead. I was in 24/7 severe pain and he sent me to PT without knowing why. PT felt I had a torn labrum and I never went back to Balbas. After receiving my records, I saw that he had diagnosed me with torn labrum on my first apptmt. Never mentioned it to me and then sent me out on my bike! Negligent. By the time of my next sched apptmt with him, I had found a superb orthopedist in Dr Robert German, (McBride Hospital OKC) received an mri and had had labral repair surgery and had stopped the 24/7 pain. I am finally on the road to recovery. Dr Balbas caused me 4 mo of completely unnecessary pain and doubled my injuries and recovery time imo. I gave two stars bc his staff is really wonderful and so is his PA Mark. This is a long review but if you feel strongly and the doctor you have is ignoring you then go with your gut. Get a second opinion from someone who cares about you. I’m so glad I did. This is my first bad review but I don’t want anyone else to have my experience and I did call and have this conversation with one of his asst to explain why I wouldn’t be returning. Again, lovely staff. I’m the emotional cheerleader for everyone in my life. I always try to build people up. I wish Dr Balbas had done that for me. I could not do surgery at this time but Dr. Balbas helped me design a plan for the near future that would allow me to have the much needed surgery my x-rays show I need. Very good surgeon. Went above and beyond to tell me what he was goin to do. Just had surgery 5 days ago. So idk much about recovery yet. But he was running behind the day of surgery. He was very busy, and did not have to come talk to me before he was rushed back into another surgery before mine. To make sure I was ok and understood why the wait. Very kind doctor. Dr. Balbas was great. Diagnosed my issue promptly, got me into surgery quickly. Still in recovery stages, but I suspect the results will be good. Bruising was minimal (almost non-existent), there IS some lingering pain (let's be honest, structural repairs to the human body are serious, and we evolved over millions of years to be the way we are, so anytime we go digging around in there, it's going to hurt some). Pain management is acceptable. Staff was great, they were a good audience for my jokes, 10/10 would perform here again. *badumtiss* Remember to tip your nurses. Dr. Balbas was great. I went in on recommendation from another doctor for knee pain. Now I’m a Veterinarian so I’m kind of picky about doctors I want one who is like I am to my clients and patients . Wow a doctor who sat down and actually listened to the patient . Oh and did a great exam on my knee without killing me. He also understood when I said where I wanted to go for my MRI because it was less expensive (he did not judge) So far I would highly rec seeing this Doctor. Dr. Balbas and staff are simply The BEST to get and keep you up and running again. He has been my surgeon for both my total knee replacements and I cannot recommend him highly enough! Staff is terrific and attentive.

Dr. Balbas' PA-C, Mark. A. Cuthbertson, was very compassionate and had a great bedside manner. Dr. Balbas spoke with me for 15 seconds which amounted to "My name is Dr. Balbas, this is what you have, we are going to give you a shot and schedule you a 5 week appointment." Didn't shake my hand, didn't tough me and walked out.

Dr. Balbas is a wonderful surgeon who performed both shoulder surgeries in the past and recently, knee surgery. He is a gifted surgeon, his work is outstanding and the outcomes, along with physical therapy, have improved my life significantly! I am so proud that he is my doctor and I would have all members of my family go to him. He has great rapport with his patients and answers all my questions. I have great respect for him and his nurse, Linda! They work so well together and Linda is very kind, hard working and is patient. She took out some tough sutures for me and did it gently and with compassion. Dr. Balbas and Linda are a great time and I had a wonderful outcome with my surgery.

I had a reverse shoulder replacement by Dr. Balbas. My questions and concerns were answered and the surgery went great. The hospital staff at St. John Hospital in Broken Arrow were terrific. The staff at the Tulsa Bone and Joint were courteous. I was always seen promptly at my appointment time. I highly recommend Dr. Balbas.

I have been seeing tulsa bone and joint since I broke my shoulder 2 years ago they did excellent job on my care,I'm going to have KNEE replacement in January of next year it's the only place I go and highly recommend.
