Waited for 1.5 hours after my appointment to see the doctor

Everything was good

Very friendly and expressed concern and knowledge about my condition. Seemed inesterested in information I volunteered about my current situation:) I really felt his concern and interest.

Love the doctor but too many patients and extremely long wait. Office had standing room only which was unusual with an hour and half wait. Glad my next visit isn’t until next year.

When I see DR. J. CANALES, I am always impressed with his patient care. He is prepared, alert to my presence and Dr. Canales listens to my concerns, answers all my questions and let's me know and be a part of planning the way forward for my continued health directions. He's the kinda Dr. I have been looking for to be my cardiologist! George Logan

Explained all details about my heart catheter procedure to me in a simple down to earth language that I understood the details and my options if he had to do further treatment. I've previously waited 2 hours past my appointment time and I won't put up with it anymore. Today, 30 minutes past my appointment time, I decided to reschedule. If I have the same issue again, I will not go back. It is a shame too, because the doctor is great.

This was a great experience. The office staff has excellent customer service. Though I do agree with the call backs not being in a timely manner. But Dr CANALES is amazing. I would recommend this office!

I would rate Dr Canales a 4/5 stars himself but his office staff a 2/5 stars. No one ever calls you back when you leave a message when they clearly state will call you back within 24 hours. I have tried 3 times with no luck. We had appointment for my mom. On our most recent appointment, we get there and receptionist said the doctor had an accident and will be out at least 2 weeks. No one called to inform the patient prior. That's how the office is run. We finally went to Heart & Vascular Institute and much better managed. I did not have a good experience AT ALL with Dr. Canales. I saw him in late June about my tachycardia and he said it could be because my body is ready to reproduce now. I thought that was an odd explanation because I am 27 years old so my body had been ready to reproduce for 11 years now so why the change all of a sudden? Also at the time, my next was swollen and a doctor friend of mine told me the issue could be with thyroid so I asked Dr. Canales if he could look at my neck/thyroid. His response was "I am a heart doctor not a neck/thyroid doctor" so he didn't look at it. Didn't he go to medical school?!?! So he could've looked at it. I saw an endocrinologist and sure enough the tachycardia and heart palpitations were from hyperthyroidism. I will never go back to see Dr. Canales and I recommend others don't see him either. From the time I got to the office to the time I left everyone was extremely friendly. Dr. Canales made me feel very comfortable he took his time and listened to me. First let me say that my review is not related to my treatment by Dr. Canales. He has been great. My complaint or grievance is abut his front desk receptionist. I had an appointment with Dr. Canales for 1200, 23 April 21. I arrived for the appointment at 1145 a.m. Upon arrival the receptionist was on the phone. When I got to the window she half-heartedly touched the sign in log. I signed in and went and sat down waiting to be called to be checked in. The office wasn't very busy with patients. There was me and one other patient waiting. After the receptionist got off the phone she was leaning back with her hands behind her head holding a discussion with another staff member. During the conversation with another staff member another patient entered the office and approached the front desk. The receptionist greeted her and asked if she had an appointment and processed her in. I was still waiting. As I mentioned the office was not busy. my name was before the lady that was processed. After processing the lady after me I was still sitting for about another 5 minutes. I then approached the receptionist and voiced my concern. It is my considered personal and professional opinion that this receptionist needs training in interpersonal communication skills and racial sensitivity training. I had a previous incident with her on my last visit at the office. On my last visit I came to pick up a prescription that they called me and told me it was ready. The receptionist told me to have a sit. I waited a total of 38 minutes for them to give me my prescription. The receptionist handed me the prescription and I took it and then she stated condescendingly, "say thank you". She appears to be a hateful person. Dr Canales is a knowledgeable, caring and attentive physician. He pays attention to detail. He listens, the mark of a good Dr. He is patient and presents himself in a very good frame of mind.

He has great ratings for a reason. He's a wonderful caring doctor. He listens and provides the testing and procedures that are needed. My blood pressure was out of control. He took needed action to determine the cause. It took a few visits but we succeeded.

If you have heart ???? concerns, you will gind no better Doctor anywhere. Dr. Canales was knowledgeable, concerned and quick to diagnose, arrange proper treatment, introduce excellent medical providers for his team and explain the process step by step. In my cases a bypass was needed. Dr. Canales called on other talented and knowledgeable providers to aid in my care, but he never failed to check on me and encourage me daily. This was my first visit to see Dr. Canales. I came away well-informed and considerably less anxious about my condition than I was when I arrived. The delivery of good medical care provided by a team working together closely is something that is taken for granted by some people. He is a real patient oriented dr. His experience and expertise is up with the best, and yet a patient would never know this unless they looked at his back ground..Better yet, he was willing to come see me while in the hospital on a cell text from my PCP...

I am a very private person who NEVER goes to see a Dr. I felt very comfortable talking about my near drowning situation with a male Dr I can honestly trust concerning my Heart since I have a stent, and any personal health issues. THANK YOU Dr Canales for seeing me as a New Patient.

Had a great visit with Dr. Canales. In my opinion, he is one of the greatest cardiac doctor in San Antonio.

Dr. Canales is a wonderful doctor. The last time I communicated we did a video chat. I was very nervous, because I have never done it before. But he made me feel like I was in his office. I don't care how you communicate with him he is always very cheerful and concerned.

I knew this Drs. Office Building as my PCP was there prior to Canalas/Price who over the office. I also knew Dr. Price before when he replaced Dr. Mathur. My PCP Dr. Kypuros texted Dr. C. while I was still in the hospital, and told me I would like him. I was changing cardiologists ( former didn't do hospital visits)...Dr. Canalas trained at Washington U in St. Louis, and I took my hospital nursing at Barnes which is part of Wash U...Both Drs. are just so good in explanations, are people drs. which is why I would refer if asked.
