I have been a patient of Dr. Carroll's for over 6 years now. He is knowledgeable, straight forward (which I appreciate), listens to all my concerns and takes all possible options into account. The staff at his office are always helpful and they truly care about your health. After being diagnosed with infertility, Dr. Carroll reached out and got me an appointment with a fertility specialist in 2 weeks time when the wait time for new patient's was over 8 months.

Dr. Carroll is phenomenal. I have met no one like him in all my years of experience with medical professionals. Even though I transferred to his practice late in my first pregnancy looking for a non-C-section happy OB, Dr Carroll is not simply a “naturalist” but a pragmatic, highly experienced, straight-shooting, and caring professional and person. I transferred to his care due to concerns about unnecessary medical interventions at my prior OB practice (and subsequently found out that my former OB actually said “off the record” that she would perform a C-section at every delivery if possible!). His orientation towards letting the body do what it does best but not buying into every natural myth (delivery was formerly one of the most dangerous experiences for women in every century before this one, after all) allowed me to ultimately trust his judgment at every crucial point in our delivery. Since having two sons (without pain meds but with some “interventions,” like puncturing the bag of waters when we hadn’t progressed past 9 cm for a few hours), I can say I honestly would try to have another baby sooner if I thought he was going to retire soon. He is the least awkward for discussing uncomfortable subjects, never in a rush, encourages all your questions and listens to concerns but is not reticent about his hard-earned perspective on delivery “fads” (e.g. recommending petocin post-delivery to minimize the chance of hemorrhage but ultimately allowing my decision to forgo it, but not budging on the requirement that I have a fetal heart rate monitor at all times when laboring in the hospital so as to ensure my baby was not at risk). While I agree that sometimes his staff (reception in particular - not his nurses) seem brusque or overworked, there’s no price you can put on having a medical professional in your corner, whose judgment you can trust when the chips are down. Dr. Carroll is phenomenal. I have met no one like him in all my years of experience with medical professionals. Even though I transferred to his practice late in my first pregnancy looking for a non-C-section happy OB, Dr Carroll is not … More

Called to make my first apt. Expecting in December so I’m early on. They couldn’t get me in for over a month, even with having a high risk pregnancy in the past. After agreeing to schedule the appointment 5 weeks out, she informed me that fathers were not able to come to appointments until the 20 week scan. This is a huge moment in both of our lives and being a female with a male doctor it seemed weird that he wouldn’t want my partner there. After asking her the receptionist to cancel my apt, she said “ok” and hung the phone up on me. During our few minute interaction, she asked me to “please hold” multiple times while she took other phone calls. I obviously didn’t see the doctor but after my interaction with her, I’m glad I didn’t. She didn’t even say bye, they’re non accommodating and they seemed overbooked. As a nurse, this is not how I want to be treated as a patient. Called to make my first apt. Expecting in December so I’m early on. I would follow this man anywhere. He’s probably the best doctor I’ve ever had. He delivered my second baby and what an incredible experience compared to my first. I had no complications and he was with us through until the end. I give him ten stars.

Dr. Carroll delivered two of my kids and helped me with a breech presentation in getting baby to turn with MFM. I have been referring my own chiropractic patients to him and they are all very happy! Thank you to Dr. Carroll, Sara and the entire team!

I saw Dr. Carroll for most of my second pregnancy with no major issues until he became defensive and hostile with me at 37 weeks when I asked about his office’s masking policy during COVID (after two staff were unmasked or not fully masked in proximity to patient areas). When, after a fairly unproductive conversation where he did nothing to reassure me or make sure I felt safe in his office, I eventually started crying and said I needed to leave, he berated me for “harming my baby” if I “stormed out”. While upset, I did not storm out and I am still in shock that he would treat a patient so badly, especially one in late pregnancy. Now, I am faced with finding a new doctor with 3 weeks till my due date. I feel extremely let down by his lack of professionalism and profound lack of compassion or empathy.

First off, it’s JOHN Carroll. Misleading, as it’s a man not a woman. I really do not appreciate this. The Dr. listed himself on many other websites as Carroll. Their website is out of date, also. Not like it recently became out of date, it has been out of date for at least a year regarding their insurance acceptance. The woman that answers the phones, is pretty abrasive. Way to make people feel welcome, or even want to come here. Hard pass. First off, it’s JOHN Carroll. Misleading, as it’s a man not a woman. I really do not appreciate this. I found this Doctor through the public aid phone number and website only to be told by the receptionist the doctor had to look at my insurance and will decide on a decision weather he would like to see me or not. I waited 3 months later and called back only to be told by the receptionist that the physician has not looked over my insurance. It’s ridiculous I did report it to the public aid department so this office can be removed from their website. It has now been 4 months and nothing. No worries though I did schedule with a different physician I found this Doctor through the public aid phone number and website only to be told by the receptionist the doctor had to look at my insurance and will decide on a decision weather he would like to see me or not. Dr Carroll delivered my 1st baby about 7 months ago now, after some time thinking about my experience I still believe that I was given very poor care, 1st of all the staff is crabby, and cold, except for the nurse who took my blood, she was very sweet, I did not see Dr C at most of my appointments I was seen by Sarah, when I did we Dr C he was very short and dismissive, he did not take any of my concerns seriously, I was diagnosed with gestational diabetes, he did not care to see my blood sugar levels that I had been tracking, I actually had to remind him and the staff at every appt that I had GD, also having a history of depression I was high risk for postpartum depression, but was never checked for it after baby was born, he also did not recheck my glucose levels after either, and did not care to explain why, I had many complications during labor and delivery but I won’t go into details because there is no way of knowing who is really to blame for the things that happened, I am very disappointed in my postpartum care, he did a quick check down below at my 6 week postpartum appt and said see you in a year, I did not feel comfortable asking any questions or voicing my concerns as he would just dismiss them as he did during my pregnancy. I am currently looking for a new OBGYN to address Concerns that I still have 7months later. Dr. Carroll was recommended to me for a VBAC. I loved how he spends the time with you doing the ultrasounds himself and checks babies heartbeat himself. Very individualized and personable care. Always treated me with respect. Very calm and patient.

Dr. Carroll was a horrible doctor. I went to see Dr. Carroll on 4/20/15 for a yearly check up. I was told that I was fine. 5 months later I found a lump in my breast about the size of a golf ball. I contacted Dr. Carroll, saw him, he examined me again, and he sent me over to have a mammogram. I was diagnosed with cancer. I had two tumors in one breast, one in the other, and also in my lymph nodes. I had to have a double mastectomy. To this day I have never heard from Dr. Carroll which was my gynecologist. He never followed up with me about my test results. He never recommended a oncologist to see. NOTHING!! I never heard from him again. Shame on him. I would NEVER recommend anyone to go to Dr. John T Carroll especially if you are a woman of color. I feel that my medical care was sub-par because of my race. I honestly feel this way, because I can not imagine a doctor not following up with his patient that just found out that they had cancer. Being that he was the ordering doctor of the mammagram, I would think I would have received a call. I never through race into things ever, but I believe in my heart that this is the case. Dr. Carroll was a horrible doctor. I went to see Dr. Carroll on 4/20/15 for a yearly check up. I was told that I was fine. 5 months later I found a lump in my breast about the size of a golf ball. We had a confirmed procedure scheduled on a Tuesday morning at CDH. My wife and I took a day off work to attend this. We drove 40 minutes to get there and signed in. 5 minutes after the appointment was supposed to start we were informed he had an emergency and could not do the appointment. Understand emergencies but no one from his office had the courtesy to notify us (maybe incompetent or perhaps just apathetic). Regardless, we will be looking for a different doctor closer to home.

Dr. Carroll is an amazing doctor and a wonderful man. He delivered 2 of my children and was present for most of my labor (8 hours) as well as the delivery. He is pro-active and an expert with complications that arise during pregnancy and delivery--I experienced both. He NEVER rushes you and listens to all your concerns. My teenage daughter also consults with him as her hormones affect her mood. She feels comfortable talking with him about female things, which surprised me a bit.

I cannot say enough good things about Dr. Carroll. After being told that I would probably have to deliver my twins by c-section, I switched OB's and starting going to Dr. Carroll. It was the best decision I made for my pregnancy. He not only let me try to deliver vaginally, but he safely delivered my son (baby b) breach. He let me know that I have options and was willing to give it our best shot. I'm so glad I found him. He is kind, and very knowledgeable. His nurses are wonderful!
