Dr. John Terry Dearborn

I’ve had 2 knee replacement surgeries. Dr. Dearborn is the best at preparing you for what is to be expected and getting you on your feet right after surgery. He takes care of business. They don’t come any better than him.

I am early in my post operative period, just over 2 months after bilateral total knee replacements. I was back at work in my medical profession six weeks after surgery walking without a cane or walker. Would highly recommend the entire team

My experience with Dr Dearborn was exceptional. From his office staff to the hospital staff, they were professional and polite. I have struggled with knee pain for years, several repair surgeries. Dr Dearborn was flabergasted to find I was still riding horses with my knee. After my surgery, there was very little pain, was in outpatient PT in 2 1/2 weeks, my PT was pleasantly surprised in the protocol and with that I was horseback again in 7.5 weeks! Thank you for giving me my life back.

Dr. Dearborn replaced my left knee. I got a staff infection and had a second surgery three days later. It has been swollen and in pain for four years. My new Doctor, stated, "this kind of movement is not normal at all, it is almost like "you are walking on stilts" each step. He determined the polyethylene spacer in knee joint is too thin, replaced it with one 4 cm thicker. Now I am pain free for the first time in 4 years. I placed this rating on another site rating doctors and Dr Dearborn lied to the public in his response stating "he has no patients in Idaho." He knows well I live in Idaho. He has my records. He told me I could even drive home keeping it iced and taking short walks every hour or so. He sent me the bills to my Idaho address just fine. Think about this one. He gets business selling the public on his Christianity. Really, then why lie to the public denying your mistakes and making me pay for the second surgery out of pocket when the Staff infection was his fault.

I had both knees replaced five years ago by Dr. Dearborn. He and his entire staff are excellent. I highly reccomendation this fine surgeon who also has great communication skills with his patients.

I had a total knee replacement on Sep. 14th 2020 by Dr Dearborn and am extremely happy with the outcome! On Dec. 20th I played a round of pain free golf, first time in years. I highly recommend the Dearborn institute, the whole staff’s highly professional from the start to the finish.

As you can see by his replies to patients with problems that they are exaggerated or fictitious, Dr. Dearborn takes no responsibility when his surgical outcome is poor. I have had to have his total knee replacement revised by another specialist who said I never should have had the problems I had. My mobility is severely limited and my range of motion compromised. Also if you are looking for a surgeon with compassion and warmth, Dr. Dearborn is not that surgeon.

Best surgeon for knee replacement. I had both knees replaced at the same time and was walking without a Walker 2 weeks after surgery.

First week of visiting home nurse some couldn't believe I had a hip replacement when I was walking. ! He is the greatest needed no after care. Best SURGEON ever !!!!

I had my TKR a year ago Nov. Went all the way from Portland OR to Fremont CA. If I had to do it again, I would. Cannot say enough recommendations regarding Dr Dearborn. Amazing surgeon and a Gentle man, these are combinations not commonly encountered in the same individual. I know, I am in the medical field. His office staff, hospital crew are all excellent as well. In 2003, I couldn't walk more than 200 yds without guaranteeing I would need to take meds that night to sleep. I went to Dr Dearborn for a hip replacement. The surgery went well, post op even better. I was home for a week. It is now 2020. The hip is still working great. If I have to have it redone, I will travel from TX to CA to have Dr. Dearborn do the follow up. My experience with Dr. John Dearborn was exceptional, and better than I had anticipated. His skill and ability to communicate with his patients is remarkable, and his staff his extremely competent and most professional. I feel fortunate to have been recommended to his firm for my hip replacement, and would recommend him to any and all who seek such care.

Had a knee replacement about three years ago. Everything is perfect. Very satisfied.

If I could give more than 5 stars I would. Hip replacement is a major operation and Dr. Dearborn and his team make it so easy and painless. He is a true master of his trade and a very compassionate and incredibly responsive person. As a 56 year old male, I still marvel at the fact that I was able to leave the hospital the same day, using only a cane! I am 4 weeks post-surgery today and I feel better than I have in many years. Also, Kelly, one of his PAs is an amazing and knowledgeable person. I realize that there is a lot of discussion about mini-posterior vs. anterior approaches, but I couldn't be happier with my result! I had total right knee replacement in Nov, 2018. Dr Dearborn took time to explain my knee problem, the recommended procedure, and answered my questions. Pre and post op care very comprehensive. He has a complete team. As I reside out of CA, he made sure I have the appropriate people to see, and a full follow up until I have completed the necessary PT and am back to normal. Dr Dearborn also has an excellent front office staff. Everyone Is professional, courteous and prompt in making appointments, returning phone calls. I highly recommend Dr Dearborn without any reservation.

Dr Dearborn & Team...incredible experience! I had my left knee replacement...detail, caring, excellent Care!

Warning: Despite my good physical condition and excellent health, I have yet to recovery from the TKR performed by Dr. Dearborn in Sept. 2014, and never will. Trouble began with a massive hematoma in the surgery site within the first week. His post-op follow-up was very poor. I have subsequently suffered the pain and expense of two further surgeries to repair, and ultimately to remove and replace the prothesis placed by Dr. Dearborn. At no point has he taken any responsibility for my problem.

I'm afraid that John has lost his personal touch with his patients. My follow up has not been good. At 12 weeks, I was told by his PA that everything looked good and that where I was at 12 weeks was as good as it was going to get. Really? I have called twice with some questions and never received a call back. I haven't had any contact from the staff since the 12 week appointment (took 10 minute after a 3 hour drive.) I like Dearborn as a person, but his operation has gone downhill.

Had bilateral knee replacement in July of 2015 and it was 100% successful.

I just had my second hip replaced with Dr. Dearborn. I had a right hip replacement done two years ago with perfect results, and now am almost two weeks out since my left hip surgery. I literally have to remind myself to take my cane. The biggest problem is that you tend to feel too good and have to remember that you are recovering from major surgery. I thoroughly researched this physician prior to scheduling. He is without a doubt the best!

Dr. Dearborn is the best there is! My physical therapist said that his knee replacement patients heal twice as fast as other doctors' patients. He also fixed my hip replacement that had been botched by a doctor at Kaiser. He is not only a fabulous doctor, but an amazing kind and generous person.

Conduits for miracles from heaven that give us our lives back. That’s exactly how I feel about Dr. John T. Dearborn and his exceptional staff at IJR after experiencing two hip joint replacements within 8 weeks of each other in July and September of 2016. This man is not only a stellar surgeon, but a person who genuinely cares deeply about you and how he could enhance your quality of life. I am well on my way to once again walking 3 miles in 45 minutes – a perfect cardio work-out!

Honest, upstanding surgeon who is very skilled and has assembled an amazing team. When things get rocky he hangs in there with you. Some other reviewers seem to be projecting disappointment for rough recovery courses on Dr. Dearborn himself. My advice would be to go into surgery with realistic expectations. Talk to Dearborn or someone that you can trust if something goes sideways.

Nice guy.

Dr. Dearborn performed a knee replacement on my right leg. I had nothing but extreme pain, swelling and after a year of agony I was forced to have the knee Dr. Dearborn put in replaced. He was attentive before my surgery but as soon as I had a problem he refused to see me and wanted me to speak only to his P.A. I would NEVER recommend him to anyone. When I finally did get to see him he literally just shrugged his shoulders and said "It happens in 5% of cases" and walked out of the room!
