Dr. John Robert Donaldson III

I had a fantastic experience and would highly recommend his services!! Great doctor overall. Dr. John is excellent, kind and thorough. It is clear that he is very knowledgeable about all aspects of his field, and he genuinely cares about his patients. I had never been treated by a psychiatrist before and was very anxious… but Dr. John was very warm and welcoming, and made the process comfortable for me. He is truly a godsend and has helped me so much. Thank you!

Dr. Donaldson has been my mother’s psychiatrists for over a decade and we have nothing but a positive feedback about his services. To start, he is a great listener and cares genuinely about my mother’s well being. And one of the biggest plus is that his office offers phone appointments which I find very convenient given my mother’s condition and age. I also appreciate the prompt response I get back from the office to any of my questions. I am so happy I found Dr. Donaldson for my mother and I can’t imagine what we would be going through as a family if it wasn’t for Dr. Donaldson’s great care.

Dr. Donaldson is an unprofessional. He wrongly diagnosed my sister and myself as bipolar (by the way…we are also his daughters) throughout our teen years which caused trouble and tumultuous behavior on all ends. He is unethical, irresponsible, and I believe his license should be revoked. Of course we were never actually officially considered patients or treated in an office, instead we were psychoanalyzed and prescribed medications without any second opinions in our very own bedrooms, to make matters even worse! On top of that, “Dr” John singlehandedly ruined the life of my older sister by putting her on heavy anti psychotics she simply did not need during her early 20s, which caused a series of mental breaks and episodes that would otherwise have been avoided. This is just the top of the iceberg. There are so many more fallacies with the way he views psychiatry. Please do not go to him for help, he will only worsen your condition, gaslight you and waste your money. Take it from one of his four children!

Brilliant and ethical. He bases his recommendations on his vast knowledge of medical research and his many years of experience. He also listens and cares. What a combination.

Dr. Donaldson is wonderful he’s been my doctor for six weeks now and will come visit me in my apartment and he immediately answers my phone calls!Monterey is blessed to have this Good Doctor!

Hes the best Dr Ive ever had

Very friendly and good first few visits, but last visits very distracted unorganized and also sharing very inappropriate personal information... He has changed almost like a new and different person. Made me very uncomfortable.
