Dr. John Dongas

Had to leave 1 star for review to be published. Fact. My dad had a defibrillator and pacemaker from this doctor. My dad was hospitalized on Dec. 20, 2022. My mother asked that Dr. Dongas be consulted on the case. We were assured he was, yet we never heard from him. On Dec 4 my dad died. On Dec 5 while sitting in the funeral home, my mom received an appointment reminder call from Dr. Dongas’s office for my father’s upcoming appointment. They apologized and were unaware of my dad’s hospitalization or death. So much for being consulted by his fellow Duly Medical Cardiologists at Silver Cross.

Dr Dongas explained & answered all of our questions very thoroughly. We were very satisfied & less stressed because of his thoroughness.

Dr.John Dongas is very arrogant when speaking to his patients. After sending my husband to another hospital for another opinion, he did not agree with that doctor and told us not to set up another appointment with him. Reporting him to DuPage Medical did not help. A survey was sent to DuPage Medical also. He needs to be reported to the Medical Board. He will set a bad reputation for Silver Cross Hospital.

Dr. Dongas has been our family's cardiologist for years. When I started to have symptoms, I can tell you that at least 3 other doctors told me it was "my age and change of life." Well, no. It was a severe issue that, had I not seen Dr. Dongas, would have caused a massive stroke. His bedside manner is matter-of-fact. He doesn't sugar-coat. He tells me what I need to know, I ask questions, and he answers them. I felt that my heart was in good hands; I'm "fixed" now, and I recommend him highly.

Totally dismissed my mother's condition and instead of looking at her history based his opinion on episode of a two week hospital stay.

Horrible bedside manner. He questioned my past diagnosis from other Drs, stating that I shouldn't be this way if I have that problem. I have gastroparesis (not what I am seeing him for) and he told me I couldn't have that cuz I'm over weight (which is not true). He said loose weight & get off medicines (which instated because of how I felt- but I was thinner when I started them)
