Dr. Gouldman saved my life. He’s an excellent surgeon whose competence and care kept me alive.

Has helped me out more than most Drs have. He has treated me for neurogenic thoracic outlet as well as fixed 3 non unioned ribs that were fractured in a motorcycle accident. He also helped me with the severe intercostal nerve pain by using cryoabaltion on my intercostal nerves to help control the pain I have had as well as remove scar tissue from the accident. He is the best of the best!!

Dr. Gouldman may be a good surgeon but his bedside manner was awful. He treated me as someone beneath him very cold and uncaring. He even saidVery rude things to me. I would avoid him for any future surgeries in fact I did

Doesn’t appear knowledgeable or confident in his field. Did NOT meet our expectations, in the least. Expect to wait over an hour, as he runs late with appointments. I can’t begin to express our disappointment with him as a physician. Definitely will be getting a second opinion.

Wonderful surgeon. Would definitely refer him to others. Knowledgeable and explained everything to me/husband. Answered questions and did not make us feel rushed. Surgery went exactly as explained. Follow up visit in office went perfect as well. Best part of Dr Goldman is he is very kind and smiles all the time.

Dr. Gouldman is extremely professional, careful to diagnose and absolutely well respected with his colleagues and patients. I had to be referred to him through another orthopedic doctor and even then, (because the surgery I needed to have is uncommon), he scheduled me to have a second opinion with a specialist of thoracic neurology which he highly respected and knew for a number of years from Johns Hopkins) When he received the evaluation back from Dr. Empting, agreeing that removing the 1st rib is the first step in releasing compression of the nerves, (by the way, I need to mention that the 1st rib was broken with calluses formation) The surgery went very well. I appreciated the time he spent with my family after the surgery and the details which were performed during the surgery. It’s been 4 1/2 months post op and I’m am so glad that I had that rib removed. I still have other problems in the thoracic area and we are slowly working on “waking up the damaged nerves from the compression before the rib resection. I highly recommend Dr. John Gouldman, in fact, I plan to be going back and get his professional opinion on the next step in “basically reconstruction” of the thoracic neuropathy, sternoclavicular joint repairs and the winging scapula. Dr. Gouldman came looking for me after he'd been forwarded my scans from an ER visit. He had his admin call me to come in to meet with him. After there, he advised my husband and I that it was in my best interest to let him operate on me to repair a hiatal hernia. Against my better judgment, I did and I feel like that was a mistake as I lay here now recovering from the operation. He misdiagnosed me. He didn't realize I didn't have a hiatal hernia until after he'd already made an incision. Long story, short..I have approximately 3 weeks left in recovery because I've already completed 4 wks. However the area where he made the incision and worked to locate and repair a hiatal hernia is still swollen and still very painful. It was painful to breathe for the 1st 3wks of recovering (a problem I'd never had). Unfortunately after the operation I became a number because he'd made his money off me during surgery. Although he and his staff admits I will be sore, its not unusual that the area is still swollen and painful for another 3wks or so..they refuse to write me any additional meds for the remainer of my recovery. The 1st script they wrote were about a 6 day script, the 2nd script was was a 4 or 5 day script and the last was about a 3-4 day script. You do the math. I called their office for a refill and they advised me that they would need to refer me to a Pain Specialist doctor if i needed another script. What kind of sense does that make?? He's the person that operated/cut on me unnecessarily, so why do a pain specialist doctor need to write a script for something that he has done. I want be going back.
