Excellent High risk OB doctor

Love how he puts me at ease during the office visits. One of the best docs in NYC

This doctor is inhumane. I went in for an ultrasound and he kept saying I lost the baby and just hadn’t passed the tissue yet and he’s not even my doctor. The ultrasound tech brought him in to discuss the findings. My actual doctor not once mentioned me losing the baby, she sent me in for more testing because she thinks I’m just early in my pregnancy. Stay away from this heartless, inhumane doctor who shows no compassion for others.

The most thorough and knowledgeable doctor there could possibly be. His down to earth demeanor makes me at ease. Clearly the best Ob/Gyn or Hi Risk OB I have ever known.

The two encounters I had with Dr. Ilagan both left me in tears. The first time I met with Dr. Ilagan after being referred to his care, he had not fully read my chart and suggested a radical change in my care without realizing a huge, relevant part of my medical history. Both appointments were rushed and he was unwilling to fully answer questions. He also made hurtful and irrelevant comments about my weight. I did not feel safe in his care.

Dr. Ilagan was extremely nonchalant and not comforting while having a high risk pregnancy. His appointments always seemed rushed and he was very dismissive of symptoms. Do not go to Dr. Ilagan

Women who are dealing with a high-risk pregnancy and anxiety should not have to endure these experiences with someone who is supposed to be a source of healing and understanding. Get a new doctor if you can because you have a right to advocate for yourself freely and ask as many questions as you want. Particularly as a woman of color. Dr. Ilagan is outstanding! He took me in as a transfer patient at 21 weeks pregnant and I couldn't be more grateful. He is kind, patient, has great bedside manner and is very knowledgeable. This was my first pregnancy and I was very anxious, however, he made me feel very comfortable by answering all my questions thoroughly and providing me with the utmost attention and care. We had our baby boy in August via a caesarean delivery, and Dr. Ilagan made sure both the baby and I were safe and healthy! Dr. Ilagan is outstanding! He took me in as a transfer patient at 21 weeks pregnant and I couldn't be more grateful. He is kind, patient, has great bedside manner and is very knowledgeable. This was my first pregnancy and I was very anxious, however, he made me feel very comfortable by answering all my questions thoroughly and providing me with the utmost attention and care. Dr. Ilagan is very expert in high risk pregnancy (one of the best MFM doctors in NYP). We met him during our 3rd trimester for fetal growth scan. He pointed out our risk issues and took action with reasonable plan immediately. Even he is not our primary OBGYN, he followed up our case very closely and guided us through how to manage our situation with a very conservative mind set. We truly appreciate his guidance and his support during our last few weeks in our pregnancy.

I never met such a horrible human being let alone a Dr. We unfortunately got to know him when after being pregnant for 8 months we were told that our baby is no longer alive. After being admitted to the hospital and getting induced and then painfully waiting for around 24 hours with nothing to look forward to, we go to know Dr. John Ilagan. He was not my Dr. but he was the Dr. on shift. Our first glimpse of him was right when his shift started, he was very nasty to the very devoted nurse. A few hours later my husband rightfully asked that I should be seen only by the Dr. on call and not the bunch of residents that kept on coming in, then the trouble started. Dr. Ilagan came in looking like he had just been disturbed from his peaceful nap on shift. He angrily said he can't check me because I'm not letting him, in truth I was just jumping from pain but he called that not letting him. He kicked out my father (who came to be with me so that my husband can get some rest) blaming in on covid, (even though all the other doctors and nurses allowed it because of the special circumstances) all because we woke him up from sleeping on his shift. Instead of showing any sympathy to someone who's giving birth to a stillborn he just made the whole painful experience much harder. It's a shame because I really liked my own Dr. and would want to use him again but as long as Dr. Ilagan is in the same practice as him we won't. My husband and I are so grateful that we have chose Dr Ilagan as my primary OB/GYN doctor throughout my pregnancy. Dr. Ilagan and his team worked with us per or request for a successful VBAC delivery.

Dr Ilagan is one of the best Dr and specially for high risk pregnancy. I had a wonderful experience with him when I had my high risk twins pregnancy. With the help of God and him I was able to reach full term, have a vaginal delivery and healthy twins. I was also impressed with his prompt response to my email each time I had questions or concerns. During my pregnancy I sent him once an email late at night expecting to get a response in the morning as it was too late, but I got a response from him within 5 minutes that night I was so impressed. I will always recommend him to anyone who has a high risk pregnancy because he is one of the best caring Dr to go to. I’m and will always be grateful for having him accompany me through my pregnancy. Worst bedside mannor of any doctor and incapable of communicating with patients. Interacted with him during an ultrasound. Plainly told us there were cysts on both of our son's kidneys. Not only was he wrong, did not discuss what that might mean for our son, the possibility that he was wrong, and what additional testing/imaging was required. Left thinking our son was not going to make it and thankfully my OB straightened that out, but still caused 24 hours of intense stress for no reason. We were dreading that he would be on call during delivery. Of course, that happend! He rushed my wife into a c-section claiming it was an emergency. Told my wife "don't you care about your son, you need to decide right now." Did not allow us to consult another doctor or have a conversation about continuing with labor. Then had the nerve to plainly list out all of the risks with a c-section, including death for the mother and baby. Stop and think before you speak! Doctor John Llagan is a very good doctor, very patient and professional.

I had my first visit with Dr. Llagan recently, and he had to deliver hard news to me. Obviously not what I was expecting, however, he did so in an incredible comforting and professionally manner.

my first time having a male OB/GYN and I couldn't be happier with the experience with Dr. Ilagan. this is my first pregnancy and he made the entire visit pleasant and super informative. I'm so happy he will be with my partner and I throughout this journey and delivering our first baby.

I went to see Dr. Ilagan for a consultation as requested by my regular OB/GYN. I had a video consultation and he was simply great! Dr. Ilagan listened to all my questions and concerns and gave his professional opinion to me. In a city where everything is pretty much rushed, he is definitely a breath of fresh air. We went to Dr. Ilagan for a send opinion since I had had 4 miscarriages in 18months. It was the best decision we made. From the moment we had our first call, we have felt calm, reassured and feel as if we finally understand everything. I look forward to continuing with Dr. Ilagan and his team.

Working with Dr. Ilagan for a high risk pregnancy (advanced maternal age) during the pandemic was reassuring. Regular televisits minimized exposure during the beginning of the the COVID-19 outbreak but important in-person ultrasounds and testing took place regardless in a timely fashion. Dr. Ilagan was there for my delivery, which made the whole labor and recovery more streamlined. He has always been open to taking time to address all my concerns with a friendly but professional attitude. I loved having Dr. Ilagan as my OB. Not only was he an extremely knowledgeable doctor, he had a great bedside manner, listened to what I wanted, and did everything to give me the safest delivery. He was super responsive to all my questions and concerns. My daughter was delivered safely and heathy because of him. I highly recommend him to anyone who is high risk.

Really incredible experience starting from the sweet scheduler, Nicole to my visit with Dr. Ilagan. I never expect nice bedside manners from my Drs, I get the long hours and being on call and the job drains you. BUT Dr.Ilagan is BEYOND sweet, caring and knowledgeable. I swear this profession was the man’s calling in life. So excited for my pregnancy, I feel like I’m in great hands.

Dr. Ilagan is an experienced and knowledgeable high risk pregnancy OB who provided the absolute best care for me during a difficult pregnancy. He was very available to answer questions and remained calm and professional always. I cannot say enough how grateful we are for his care.
