I am very fortunate that my PT Serena Magnan at The Edge recommended Dr. Macy hands down upon my asking for a recommendation. Dr Macy and his team at Copley were truly amazing and I have already recommended the team to others.

Dr. Macy saw me a few days after I had a very bad ski accident. He determined that I needed total reverse shoulder replacement after assessing the x-rays. Dr. Macy took time to explain the procedure and what he would do during the procedure and first see if repair was possible. He answered all of my questions and made sure I was aware of the risks and benefits of this surgery. After less than 3 months I can participate in the sports I love like swimming, kayaking and biking. I am so grateful to have had this skilled surgeon be the one to make this possible.

I had Rotator Cuff and Bicep repair. The facility and everyone involved was excellent. I’m progressing great with goal to be back on the golf course by June. Thank You Dr Macy and staff. A job well done!

My surgery went quickly and smoothly and my initial recovery after surgery went well. Since my other shoulder is heading the same way. I would like to have Dr Macy do the surgery again.

If you are looking for a no nonsense straight shooter when it comes to shoulder surgery, Dr. Macy is your guy. He takes the time to explain what you can expect without looking at his watch trying to move on to the next patient. This is real important as shoulder surgery can be life changing so you really need to know how to cope post op. He actually called me the next day after surgery to find out how I was doing. He also took the time to answer a lot of questions at my 6 week follow up. If you are lucky enough to have Dr. Macy do your surgery, write down your questions prior to your consultation visit and I'm sure he will take the time with you so you can feel comfortable with your decision. The whole team at Copley was first class.

Dr. Macy presented options to repairing my left shoulder after thorough review of test results, MRI, CT scan, and X-Ray. He listened to my concerns and we agreed to reverse shoulder replacement. He and his surgical team fed an excellent job and the recovery has been remarkably fast and easy. Hi office staff provided excellent care and support. I highly recommend Dr. Macy and Copley Hospital.

Dr Macy replaced both of my shoulders. The results exceeded my expectations. I now have great range of motion with no pain. In other words, I have two brand new state of the art shoulders!

Excellent pre op care with explanations and review of X-rays. Dr Macy’s team is thorough, caring and skillful. I was in pain for 10 yrs and until I found Dr Macy, I would let anyone touch or operate on it. Postoperative care was thorough and communications were excellent. The Force program was especially creative and helpful during pandemic time. I highly recommend Dr Macy and have referred at least 6 people to him.

Dr. Macy performed rotator cuff surgery on my dominant arm in May of 2019. He had to place 5 pins due to the complexity of the tear. I have healed far better than anticipated with full range of motion forward, upward and almost full range behind my back. Dr. Macy's staff was also incredible. I was seen at the Copley Hospital and Waterbury offices with surgery performed in Copley's outpatient surgery center. The entire staff sent a thank you note after my surgery!!! The orthopedic team of surgeons at Copley came highly recommended many years ago when my daughter had a terrible leg accident. The team at Copley advised against surgery and instead recommended a PT course and consider surgery later. From personal experience with the larger, teaching hospital, their first course of action is surgery so I was doubly impressed that surgeons advised a wait-and-see. She healed very well with the only limitation being Flamenco dancing!

Dr Macy came highly recommended by a number of acquaintances that had him perform surgery on them, in addition to my physical therapist. He operated on both my husband and I and we couldn't have been more pleased with the results. He's not a hold your hand kind of guy, but very professional and knowledgable. He explained where each of us stood and let us make the decision if we wanted to pursue surgery. We recommend him highly.

I waited over 2 months to see Dr Macy. I came away feeling short changed. He seemed in a hurry and just generally came off like he was not interested. His exam of my shoulder lasted less than 1 minute. I had to tell him myself what was stated on my MRI report. He was very critical of another Dr I had been seeing. He may be a very good surgeon, but his people skills fell short. For me, I will not go back.
