I had bariatric surgery 14 years ago. Because of his program I lost 182 pounds and continue to keep it off 14 years later. His comprehensive approach to weight lost is the reason I have kept the weight off.

He resolved a long-term esophageal/hiatial hernia condition dismissed by previous physicians. Great bedside manner and explanation of procedures and alternatives. Helpful, congenial staff.

Dr Pennings was on call when my husband came in with a life threatening condition. He did emergency surgery which saved my husband's life. He needs another different surgery in a few days and we have picked Dr Pennings to perform this one also. Highly recommend him. Great bedside manners. Takes the time to listen and reacts appropriately.

We had very close friends visiting us from Denmark. Michael arrived at our house in very serious condition with a perforated appendix. Michael's condition was very dire. Luckily Dr. Pennings was on call and performed emergency surgery in the middle of the night. Dr. Pennings literally saved Michael's life that night. Michael had to stay in the hospital for nine days and had amazing care by Dr Pennings and his staff.

Dr.Pennings was able to diagnose and fix a long-term problem overlooked by previous GP and Gastroenterologist. Explained condition and procedures to my satisfaction.

When it comes to health care for me or my family, of course, I hope for the best care possible. We are fortunate to have Dr. Pennings practicing in the greater Coeur d'Alene/Post Falls area. A highly qualified surgeon, Dr. Pennings and his staff provide exceptional care in a professional, yet personable and empathetic environment. Even in the most difficult of situations, I have found Dr. Pennings to be caring and thorough and I am grateful to have him in our medical community.

Dr Pennings was friendly and helpful, however they charged double what I was told and the procedure caused more harm than good. There was no follow up on my condition, only billing.

Saw the doctor for unknown bleeding and they were all great. The doctor sat for a long time to visit and explain instead of the rush 15 minute appointment times. It was so nice as have seen many doctors in my life and he was a first to take time in a relaxed visit. Plan to go back for a unrelated pain as with all have met, trust him completely.

Seems more concerned about money than patient care. Spends almost no time with you and seems annoyed if you want to ask questions.

I had hernia surgery last april,2015.My insurance paid for the majority of my surgery and I paid quite a bit up front the morning of my procedure.I have had complications ever since my surgery and went back to get injections in my scar area which helped for about three weeks.I was behind in my payments to the Doctors office by a couple of months and when I tried to make an appointment to find out why I was still in pain,the office staff refused to schedule me until I made a payment.WOW!
