Dr. John Andrew Pumphrey

I always hate writing negative reviews for doctors. But Dr. Pumphrey is my grandfather's doctor and has been negligent. My grandfather has prostate cancer and had bloodwork done, the doctor never called him back with the results. My grandmother had to drive up to his office to receive the results over two weeks ago....and wouldn't you know, still no call from the doctor. My grandfather is an 85 year old veteran and he deserves better healthcare. If you are sending your loved ones to Dr. Pumphrey, rethink your decision. I don't want what happened to my grandfather to happen to you.

Dr Pumphrey is kind, knowledgeable and very professional. Nothing pushy about him and he takes time to explain issues and discuss alternatives. I recommend his services without reservation.

Saw him on a prostate issue, he prescribed a medicine and could not get a follow up with him on how the medicine was doing for over a year. Tried to call to get a hold of his nurse to get message to the Dr on my side affects. The answering service wanted to know why before they would even talk to me, why should I be discussing my personal medical with answering service, and then had to make an appointment wit a nurse practitioner. Decided this is not the type relationship I want in a doctor and cancelled appt and stopped taking medicine.

I got a call from this office to schedule a surgery. I called back 3 days in a row and had to leave a message with a person. I did not get a return call. The last time I was placed on hold for over 35 minutes. When someone came back on the line I was called by the wrong name (wrong patient) and had to ask for an apology. The rep apologize because I was upset, not that they forgot me. The doctor may be wonderful, but the office staff is horrible. I got a call from this office to schedule a surgery. All I can say is he is the best ! I don't like doctors of any kind, but to say the moment he walked into the room I knew he was different. So calm, caring and listened to my issues. Doctor Pumphrey performed laser scope surgery to blast my kidney stone supposedly into sand. Surgery was not completely successful as he reported to me. I ended up having repeat surgery 5 days later after large fragments impacted. After stent removal he did not prescribe medicine to help these fragments pass naturally. He became arrogant and defensive when I questioned him about this outcome. The office nurse Regina did not return my call nor schedule me for the CT scan Dr Pumphrey requested when I called in repeatedly with severe pain from these complications. This is review is bout dr.Shah and his nurse Sherri. Dr. Shah is awesome at his work. He tells you everything that he is doing and what he thinks should be done. Dr. Shah shows compassion and care for his patients. His nurse knows her stuff and she also rocks. She shows you care and compassion as well. If you are needing help with kidney problems I totally recommend Dr.Shah. He will take care of you in a respectful manner. I will recommend dr.shah to my family and friends for sure. Dr Pumphrey rocks! From initial exam to what would equate to a life saving diagnosis, his laid back manner and reassurance are exemplary. I appreciate his candor and insistence which paid off with what would be a life saving robotic prostectomy. Thanks! RR

Dr Pumphrey is truly a dedicated physician. I felt so comfortable and relaxed in his care. He is soft spoken and explains your test results and his plan of treatment in lay terms. I am 75 years old, been around the block a few times, and I cannot day enough good things about him.

I like him personally. I have already recommended him to a friend. If you have had any urological issues than you know that modesty has no place in this field. I was never uncomfortable, just another day for Dr. Pumphrey and his staff. I have contacted his office multiple times with minor issues, and expected return calls from his staff with directives from Dr. Pumphrey. He has called me back every time. That says a-lot in itself. His explanations were in layman's terms and specific. I understood what the procedures entailed and was comfortable throughout my experience. I am 45yrs old and this was my first time being admitted to a hospital. All of this was happening throughout this Covid scare. I was always comfortable and at ease. Thanks to Dr. Pumphrey and his staff.

Impeccable service by all staff, and genuine care demonstrated by Dr. Pumphrey during multiple appointments. This doctor has a great sense of humor, and the whole office rocks!

Dr. Pumprey was outstanding. He is an excellent surgeon. Dr. Pumprey is kind and thoughtful . He is the only urologist that could have done the very difficult surgery he did for my husband. We have complete confidence in him. Some of the hospitals he practices at don't have the "window dressing " but wow they have the skills needed and great staff.

Dr Pumphrey is an excellent doctor, very personable, and very thorough! I have bouts wit my prostate, and very pleased with his treatment! I even sent my 20 year old granddaughter to him, who has UTI issues!
