Dr. Jon Clinton Helman

One of the best dentists in South Lake Tahoe, who, unfortunately, is retired. He changed my life and my mouth with his incredible humor, skill with the needle, and plain good advice: "don't let anyone do unnecessary dental work on you". When I was much younger, I had not seen a dentist in many years and could not afford to go, so the good Doctor let me pay over time. He did a deep cleaning of my teeth and halfway through asked where I went to college. "Why, UC Berkeley, I said". He said, "That's what I thought, and the evidence is here that you ate in the co-ops, because I just fished out one of their fossilized food crumbs!". Dr. Helman was/is the best dentist in South Lake Tahoe with the most professional staff. He was frank, honest, and endlessly self-effacing; the best qualities in a doctor. I will never forget that he told me his greatest wish was to provide free dentistry to those in need. A humble man with great skill.
