My child had a post-op appointment and the doctor did not even evaluate her or move the limb that had been operated on. Said she was fine. This is a surgery that will need to be followed for the next two years and did not give us any follow up instructions. He was also very belittling when we expressed our concerns. In the course of conversation he probably said “I’m looking at you and I’m telling you...” 15-20 times. Yet he never heard what my child or I were telling him. I have never had a doctor be so rude and degrading to a 10 year old child or myself. He also did not prep for her surgery like he said he would in the initial appointment when we had to switch to him. He said he would consult with the original doctor who performed the first surgery to make sure all tools would be in the OR room for the hardware being removed, however this was not done and they had to keep my daughter in surgery in additional 2 hours while they waited on the correct tools to be located. This man needs to do a little more prep work for his patients instead of referring to us as just a case! My daughter has gone to him for 8 years for her Perthes disease. We ❤️❤️❤️ him! He is very personable and thorough, making sure that not only the parents understand what is happening, but the child also. He helps them in having a say in what can be done for them and explains it in a way that they can understand, even if it means drawing pictures for them. This is a review of Dr. Schoenecker... He was the most informative doctor we have ever been to - across the board. My son has an atypical break, and he went through all the possible scenarios of treatments, pros/cons, prognoses with such thorough but clear explanation. As parents, we really appreciated him helping us look at this situation from all sides. Great ”bedside manner” and very impressed with his professional knowledge and problem solving. The office consistently overbooks at Vanderbilt and wait is hours. I have a child under 2 we aremade wait for hours and hours every visit and until i go in and have a fit. At this point my kids are rolling on the floors and lick everything cause there is zero entertainment for little ones and staff couldnot care less.
