Joseph C Cheng

Don't see Dr. Cheng if on Medi-Cal. In early 2016, Dr. Cheng gas-lit me into thinking that the symptoms of my ACL graft failure were due to "weak muscles" and "synovitis". Six years later, I have severe osteoarthritis because the issue was dismissed. I might have received an accurate diagnosis if Dr. Cheng had thoroughly listened, taken more time with more tests, okayed an MRI, and/or not shown himself to be a patronizing guy who wanted to make a Medi-Cal appointment as quick as possible.

Dr Cheng, is an awesome doctor. He operated two knee replacement surgeries for my mother, one in Dec. 2020 and the second one was in Mar.2021. Both surgeries changed my mother’s life. She can finally walk, and sleep comfortably after over 20 years of pain. She is the happiest that I’ve ever seen in years, keep in mind she is in her 70’s Dr Cheng and his staff are great, friendly, respectful, and passionate of what they do. This is a great office Dr is caring as well as staff best irtho office in the east bay....

I would highly recommend Dr. Joseph Cheng for your Orthopedic care. I came to him with a failed shoulder surgery from a previous provider and a feeling that I would never regain use of my arm. He repaired my shoulder and set me on the right track to regaining my strength and performing my normal daily activities. His office staff is always pleasant and accommodating to my needs. I have referred several friends who have all raved about Dr. Cheng. I would highly recommend Dr. Joseph Cheng for your Orthopedic care. Always friendly and always helpful. I get my injuries taken care off.

Doc is good but staff sucks. Doc authorizes for both shoulders physical therapy but only left shoulder was authorized. PH office had to fix it. Incompetence.

Very friendly office staff, I had a bike accident double-meniscus and kneecap injury. He will try to do Physio etc. first, but I wanted the op. This was not an easy decision as I don't trust surgeons; I've had bad experience previously. I was so worried pre op. I'm a heavy hiker middle aged but think I'm young and slim. Walked immediately post op. I was a bit too active immediately post op against advice-swimming hiking cyclincycling actually fell full force on it again, but the knee was still ok. I hiked the French trail 10 miles within 6 months post op. non stop hiking since. He advises that I always use hiking poles, especially downhill. No hassle, no fuss. no unnecessary costs or frills, no painkiller, twinges but no pain post op, scars invisible. He will prescribe painkillers but I didn't want them. I did opt for the icdownhill and post op Physio. The cost after inaurance was about the same as a dental crown replacement. Really it is just down to him being a good surgeon. Took my husband for rotator Cuff injury. No surgery needed at present, shoulder healed on its own. Now taking daughter for Check/ advice. Dr. Cheng's office dealt with my insurance to promptly provide care, and always called to confirm appointments the day before. Dr. Cheng has an active lifestyle, and as such was understanding of my desire to return to athletic pursuits after my recovery; he also discussed my treatment with me at an appropriate level. Dr. Cheng performed an outpatient procedure to repair a torn meniscus in my knee. From medical consultations through post-op discussions, he has been enthusiastic, attentive, cautious, revelatory, and transparent in his care. A very good surgeon with a very likable personality.

Very good Doctor/Patient manner. Explained surgery process in detail. Results of my Knee surgery excellant.
