Reviews for Dr. Joseph A. Habis
Highly recommended! A doctor who listens!
Horrible, friend almost died
El Dr. Habis es excelente Dr. ha visto a mi esposo por muchos años y estamos super satisfechos con su servicios. Es muy profesional y muy competente. Gracias Dr Habis. Isela Talarico
Amazing doctor. He is awesome. So knowledgable, responsible and super attentive. Thank you so much Dr Habis,
Dr. Habis is one of the most uneducated and incompetent "professional" person I have ever dealt with. I graduated from one of the most recognized European medical universities in Europe. I practiced there as a general physician for several years. Unfortunately I wasn't able to continue my career in US for other reasons. In accordance to my experience from back there and dealing with Mr. Habis he should be displaced from the profession due to his overall lack of experience, lack of the medical knowledge, lack of empathy, and due to the way how he abuses the medical system. He charged me (my insurance company) $800 for a visit which last 10 minutes and providing me with recommendations I actually recommend to him. He usually charges $400 for online meetings lasting 10 minutes resulting with "hard to understand opinions". In several cases and according to his diagnoses/recommendations my health might be exposed to serious danger. I 'm ready to start legal action about him.
He’s been my doctor for about 10 years now, he’s never too busy to find out what’s going on with me or to send me information. He’s patient and kind and everything you look for in a doctor.
Very responsive and helpful.
My first experience was during covid so it was a over zoom to get my prescriptions renewed after switching over from Kaiser. The twelve minute call was billed at $583 which seems high. Subsequent calls to the office have been very challenging to reach a human. A follow-up call/visit to renew an ambien prescription was going to cost somewhere between $150-550 - the office couldn't narrow it down more than that. And needs to happen every 3 months. This office seems more focused on revenue generation than patient health.
Surprise $575 new patient fee that was never disclosed beforehand. Long wait, no resolution of relatively minor issue. Spent less than 5 minutes with me after very long wait. Awful.
While he's a competent doctor, the office is a mess. You get put on hold forever trying to schedule an a appointment. Getting a prescription refilled is a hardship. The office is set up as a factory, and a not so well run factory. Charles Louer San Anselmo.
Impossible to reach, doesn't return phone calls, charges $400 for office visits.

BE ADVISED! This is only my experience and may not be what others have encountered with this practice. In January 2019 I was charged $867.00 for a first time office visit with Dr Joseph Habis. I scheduled this visit strictly for a prescription refill as my former Primary Care physician had retired and I was in need of a quick refill. At no time was I advised that a first time visit charge would be incurred, or that the total office visit of ~10 minutes with Dr Habis would be $867. Absolutely ludicrous and shameless. The reason I am writing about this now (10/19) as I had called the billing department and left messages 9 times these past 9 mos, and just today spoke with a billing clerk (Kelsey in Dallas) about this first time visit charge. As she described the first time charge, she also was unable to delineate the difference in cost between a first time charge and an existing patient office visit charge. If you schedule an appointment with this doctor/practice be forewarned.
I am going to copy the review of the previous person with the exception that I waited 90 minutes. I basically agree with everything those who left negative comments here, as I can identify with the same issues other patients had. First, he always makes me wait for an hour, even when I see there are no patients waiting in the reception area. So, the staff cover for him and say he is busy with other patients; but I often see him standing with his laptop on a counter talking to new doctors/trainees. I think his main function at Prima Medical Group is to train young doctors and then he sees a few patients in between when he feels like it. Last time I was visiting him, he first sent in a nurse to get some medical information and to take my vital signs. Then after 45 minutes, a young doctor/trainee came to my room and then asked the same questions and after I complained about all this waiting, Dr. Habis finally showed up for 5 minutes. What a scam !

If you schedule an appointment with this doctor (and perhaps this practice/UCSF Physicians Group/Prima), please remember to ask what the visit will cost ahead of time.

Dr. Habis was late for our appointment by slightly over one hour. During the appointment I was treated with incredulity, and at one point he condescended to me.

I’ve been going to Doctor Habis for over 10 years now and he’s always taken good care of my health. Everything from a herniated dusk to stomach viruses contracted overseas; he’s always been there to help me. Friendly and to-the-point, Doctor Habis is a great primary. I trust him and would recommend him to anyone in need of a primary doctor. Thanks!
Great Doctor! always willing to listen. very passionate about his patients.

If I could give ZERO stars I would! Absolutely the no bedside manner at all! Didn't introduce himself to me or my wife. The proceeded to insult me regarding my condition, then paraded me around to his colleagues without first asking me if it was ok for them to come into my exam room! Was this a prank or what!?!?! Could not believe he was an actual doctor, seemed more like a clown to me!
Dr. Habis failed to diagnose cancer at a stage where it could have been treated.

Dr Habis must have been absent in med school on the day they taught bedside manner and concern for the patient. I'll be changing primary physicians right away. Definitely see him if you enjoy being treated like a cog in the Prima Machine.
