The BEST Dr. Great team at the office (shout out to Debbie!)

I am so fortunate to have been under the amazing care of Dr Ruggiero since my diagnosis in 2012 up to his retirement in 2021. He and his fantastic team Chris, Debbie, Rose, Brenda and all the other staff members created an atmosphere of warmth and caring which helped me throughout my medical journey. Although I was being treated for a serious and scary condition, my visits to Dr Ruggiero's office were filled with kindness , support, and positivity. I never waited long to be seen and no matter how many people were in the waiting room I was always welcomed quickly and warmly. Dr Ruggiero exhibited incredible knowledge, patience, and understanding in explaining every aspect of my medical treatment and condition. His supportive attitude helped bolster my spirit and encouraged me to remain optimistic over the years. I wish Dr Ruggiero every success in his new career and I know that the medical community will be better because of the participation of Joseph Ruggiero, MD.

My sister was under his care for end stage pancreatic cancer. He treated her with chemotherapy and radiation.. unfortunately she was not a candidate for surgery. I did not find that he showed much if any compassion. During her 2 years with him it was not his practice to call her and see how she was progressing or if she needed any services. His manner was … if they don’t ask he didn’t tell. Her last couple days under his care I had to demand that he give her pain medication. She cried for two days while his response was that he would refer a hospice nurse To assess and provide her pain needs. He finally called in the pain medication. Dr. Ruggiero is a knowledgeable, compassionate and empathetic physician.

As an oncologist, Dr. Ruggiero was my Dr,. 20 years ago during my recovery from a whipple operation. As a hemotologist, Dr. Ruggiero has been my go to person when I needed blood work or tranfusions. I will miss him in now that he is retireing, Good Luck to him. Bob Berger....

Dr. Ruggiero's been my oncologist since my diagnosis in 2017. I wish I could give a higher evaluation than 5 stars. He was always completely updated on every aspect of my condition and treatment, always straightforward and reassuring and available to answer all questions in comprehensive, comprehensible detail. His staff is the best I've seen from the receptionist, to the phlebotomist to the chemo nurses to his administrative assistant. All knew my wife and me by the second visit, greeted us by name and, astoundingly, we never had to wait. By that I mean my total wait time over the 3 plus years may have been 10 minutes - for all visits combined.

Dr Ruggiero is the most caring intelligent nan. I will miss him

Dr. Ruggerio is simply amazing. He has a huge caring heart and makes you feel as if you are part of his family. He is very professional and knowledgeable in his profession. Dr. Ruggiero is an incredibly kind, gentle, and caring person. Explains everything in detail, from diagnoses to treatment options, always has time for questions or discuss concerns, very caring. His staff, Debbie, Chris, and everyone in between are the most caring and dedicated team I have ever met.

It’s easy to rave about Dr. Joseph Ruggiero. He does everything you want your Doctor to do—he listens, explains everything, and includes you in your care. He is as invested in your care as you are. That makes you a better patient and finally, thank God and Dr. Ruggiero, a healthy one!

Dr. Ruggiero has been my oncologist for 35 years. I was diagnosed with Stage 2 breast cancer. I had a brutal round of chemo and Dr. Ruggiero was so caring and understanding and that made me feel better. More important, he made me feel safe. Almost a year later due to his expert skills, he discovered I had a recurrence. That time I had to undergo radiation. I continued to visit him a few times a year to check on my recovery. I live on the Upper East Side of New York City. I could go to any one of the outstanding hospitals. I chose to stay with Dr. Ruggiero and NY Presbyterian Hosp. Because he discovered the recurrence I believe I owe him my life. All his outstanding skills aside, he is a hell of a nice guy. He was the good news in my bad news situation. Dr Ruggiero is very thorough, and friendly all at the same time. I never feel rushed and he always spends time with me and answers all my questions. And is never distracted.

Dr Ruggerio and Debbie have been readily available to help us when my father was diagnosed with stage 3 colorectal cancer and he had always up to date with the treatment and Debbie has always been accessible to help schedule the many different appointments that follow thank you words can’t express the gratitude we feel

My visit was and always is very professional and pleasant. Dr. Ruggerio is a man and doctor with a huge and caring heart for his patients. He treats you like family and thoroughly explains everything to you.

It has been 25 years since Dr Ruggiero treated me for breast cancer. He is the most compassionat and caring dr I have ever had at the age of 81 that's a lot of doctors. I highly recommend him to anyone who needs an oncologist. Ethel Schwartz Bock NYC 12/17/18
