Joseph T Santoso

I was diagnosed with cervical cancer in 2011 and had surgery, radiation, and chemo. It reoccurred in 2013 (Stage 4) with additional chemotherapy which resulted in a clear scan after all treatments. Cancer reappeared 3 years later on my spleen with additional chemotherapy. Through everything total, i have had 108 bags of chemo and never got sick. During chemo treatments i would keep my electrolytes up by drinking 2-3 sugar free Propels. I also did this daily. I also kept my immune system up by exercise and supplements (such as Juice Plus), and also kept my faith strong. Also, in my diet i used no sugar with the exception of Stevia. I have been cancer free now for over 4 years. Dr. Santoso, Mary, and the entire staff have been amazing during this entire time.

I was diagnosis with uterine cancer and had trouble walking, short of breath due to a large stomach. It fell to my knees. I could not walk long distances. Unable to walk stairs or go to the park with grandchildren. He was able to do my surgery and remove my extra stomach. I was so scared, but he was so kind and encouraging. I am now able to walk, take care of my blind sister and help raise my grandchildren. We go to the park and I know he has added 10 years to my life. I would recommend him to everyone. He is an angle from God.

On January 26th 2023 I lost my life twice if it wouldn't have been for the advice of doc Santos I wouldn't be here to tell my story today.I had just came out of surgery for a c section when my uterus hemorrhage and I lost 100% of the blood in my body and I was given over 10 blood transfusion he also has to go back in for another surgery because there was still some small amounts of bleading from my uterus. Doc Santos and his team are most definitely my guardian angel and I thank God that they where put in my life so I think them from the bottom of my heart for giving me a second chance at life and I want take it for granted ????????????

Dr. Santoso saved my life. I had uterine necrosis after a traumatic birth experience. I kept telling my local ob/gyn that something was not right. Things progressively got worse each day until I could no longer function. My primary care doctor finally insisted that I see another ob who immediately sent me to Dr. Santoso. He was very kind and made sure that I understood everything that was happening. I am certain that Dr. Santoso listening to me saved my life. A wonderful doctor and surgeon !

Today I sit in remission, exactly 4 months after my diagnosis. Dr. Santoso kept it straight up with me. My cancer was aggressive and my treatment would be too. He had a plan of action and I followed his lead. I am so very thankful for him and he knows what he is talking about. Whatever questions you have about your cancer and the treatment, he will assure you that he has heard and seen it all before. Thank God I don’t look like what I’ve been through. There are not enough words to describe the fantastic care we received for the last year. Not only is Dr Santoso an amazing doctor who will fight as hard as you, but he listens, even when you don't make any sense. His staff are one in a million, trained by the best, like family you've always known. No one is ever prepared for this journey or realize all the extra trials that come with the cancer, but above all the medicine such, you going to need a man, a doctor, a team, like you will find here. I came in through the ER with pain. I went to my PCP twice begging for help. I went to Methodist Hospital downtown. They were no help. Dr Santoso immediately figured out I had ovarian cancer and did surgery and he must have gotten everything because I never showed evidence of disease after but I did 7 rounds of chemo. After, I was allowed to stop chemo. He did a reversal as promised 12 months after. He saved my life. He’s talented beyond imagination. He found the problem when others didn’t. He kept his word on every point. Of course it was hard, sad at times, & scary. But I am alive because of him. I beg you to do what he says. He can give you more time. He can give you more. Get help, please. Ovarian cancer is so hard, but he can guide you to more life. It’s all worth it. I believe God led me to him. Please don’t give up. Let him help you. Dr. Santoso is very knowledgeable and he Is warm and caring. The fear of having a fibroid tumor in your body is scary. I waited to have the surgery because of work and being the head of my household with every one depending on me. My body was giving out on me I had to get the surgery and Dr.Santoso gave me the peace of mind that I could do it! My fibroid tumor weighed 10 pounds and I am so glad I had the courage to remove it. I was discussing with a young lady that I had a hysterectomy and removed a 10 pound fibroid tumor and she shared with me that she had a hysterectomy and they discovered a mass in front of her uterus and a small cancer tumor hiding behind her uterus! Ladies please take time to take care of yourselves. We take care of everyone but we must take care of ourselves to continue to take care of the ones that we love. Dr. Santoso and his office from the front desk check in to the nurses that prep you for surgery . are a wonderful group.

My Journey started when I ended up in the ER on March 19th 2022 where I was told that I had a massive Large Tumor, I then went to my Gynecology Dr, and was Told how this oncologist that he would recommend me to, so I Landed in this office of Dr. Santoso and there he gave me one on one attention, I felt so comfortable because normally people are afraid when they feel that they are in a space where their may be cancer and for me, I felt the same but the care and treatment and laughter that I received from Dr. Santoso was amazing along with his staff, My Journey has not ended here because I have found a family where I can always come back to and I'm forever grateful. The hospital visit he came to see me and I was over blown by kindness. Thank You So much! Hey yall! I had a truly amazing experience with Dr. Santoso and his staff! I was initially referred by my OB, Dr. Duncan-Cody. I was so nervous mainly because Dr. DC had been my OB for 10 years. My first appointment with Dr. Santoso changed all of that! The wait time almost didn't exist. I was called to be seen with the first 5-10 minutes! After a few visits, I made an educated decision on a particular surgery. Dr. Santoso and his nurse, Angelica provided me with all options available along with a wealth of knowledge on all options. The week of surgery, I "googled" my surgery (worst mistake ever). This led me to almost back-out of surgery 3 days prior! I called the office and was seen within days! Dr. Santoso and Angelica both calmly eased my anxiety and nervousness about surgery. Surgery day came and although I had some anxiety, Dr. Santoso's comedic and calm nature saved the day again! I'm sharing my story to help other women who are nervous or anxious. Hope this helps!

When I visited Dr. Santoso, it was the last thing I wanted to hear. I had 10 cm mass in my ovary. My regular obgyn was not comfortable doing the surgery. She couldn't tell if it was benign or not. So she referred me to Dr. Santoso. AN oncology surgeon. My fear and anxiety went through the roof, but I knew no matter what, I had to follow up and face whatever this was. By the grace of God (and my ancestors) it was benign. My body gave me signs prior to going to the doctor that something was wrong. Back aches, bladder issues, but I ignored the signs. As I said, I am grateful the mass was benign. Seeing Dr. Santoso put my mind at ease. He is a caring doctor.

My first visit with Dr. Santoso was great. I was recommended by my hometown OBGYN and this was the best recommendation ever. On my first visit I felt welcomed and in good hands by his great bedside manner. He was very patient and explained everything detail by detail. I would highly recommend Dr. Santoso for any women that's in need of an OBGYN.

Five years ago, I was sent to Dr. Santoso because I needed testing. He diagnosed me and I had Stage 4 cancer. Five years later, today, I am cancer free. I am so blessed and thankful to God and Dr. Santoso. Trust in the Lord and Dr. Santoso.

Everyone at Baptist Women Caner Center was amazing I was treated with the upmost respect and with care not to mention the staff was concerned about me. After my surgery they called me daily for one week to make sure that I was doing ok and I was just thankful never experienced that with other medical teams. I am grateful for my co-worker for providing me with the information for this God-sent physician. Dr. Santoso provided excellent service for my sister. My sister is not a cancer patient that needed a surgery. My sister’s primary doctor was impressed by all of the areas in which Dr. Santoso specializes. One of the main reasons in which she was impressed with Dr. Santoso is due to if there where any problems that weren’t detected before the surgery that could arise, an oncologist would know exactly what procedures to take without hesitation. Dr. Santoso has one of the best personalities and he genuinely cares for his patients. Also, the complete team of Dr. Santoso can be described as absolutely awesome! Dr. Santoso reviewed, explained in detail, and provided all the information that was gathered in my sister’s medical scans. It was a surprising outcome with locating two extremely large mass in my sister’s pelvic and abdomen area. Dr. Santoso saved my daughter’s life 4 days after her uterus rupture when she gave birth to her second child. I am forever grateful to him! He is also a very caring man and amazing bedside manner.

Dr Santoso treated me for clear cell ovarian cancer starting in 2014. Seven years later I am still cancer free. I went through six rounds of chemo. Each time I went for chemo I saw Dr. Santoso. I've hear from other ovarian cancer patients throughout the country who only saw their Gyn-Onc occasionally. Most of their visits they only saw a nurse practioner. Dr. Santoso always took time to see me and discuss my status. He is extremely kind and caring with his patients. Chemotherapy is never easy but he made it better. When I started having peripheral neuropathy I thought it was just something I had to tolerate, but he changed one of my chemo drugs so that the neuropathy actually decreased. I would recommend him to anyone with a gyn. cancer.

Today is a very special day. It has been 5 years since I had been diagnosed with ovarian cancer. The journey was hard, scary, and at times depressing, but with God's strength, the prayers of a multitude of family and friends, and with Dr. Santoso's excellent care and plan of action, I have been healed. Dr. Santoso is absolutely the best. I had uterine and ovarian cancer in 2015, and I am confident that I received the best care available. Our other physicians unsuccessfully tried to convince us, but it was Dr. Santoso who was successful. He presented facts, statistics, and what was an overall view of what is happening in the hospitals with COVID-19. His deep concern for our welfare caused us to change our minds. Dr. Santoso and his staff are the very BEST! I met with him today for my three-year post-treatment appointment. I have been a little apprehensive over the possibility of a cancer recurrence and felt I might need a CT or PET scan. He explained to me that, according to the NCCN Guidelines (2021), NOT having either of those scans is actually healthier for me (high amounts of radiation exposure that may lead to leukemia) in the long run since I’m not experiencing any problems related to my disease. He even shared those guidelines with me (and I’m providing them attached for anyone else who may be feeling a little antsy!). I feel completely safe under his care, and I totally trust his judgement. ✓ If you are reading reviews for Dr. Santoso, chances are you’re in the same emotional place I was a few weeks ago, completely overwhelmed with a diagnosis you don’t quite understand and terrified that you been referred to an oncologist because you fear the worst. For me, quite unexpectedly, a CT scan taken for a gastrointestinal problem revealed a large mass that appeared to be an ovarian cyst. Dr. Santoso put both my husband and myself more at ease as he made a plan for surgery with a positive outcome. He told us that there is no definitive test for cancer except a biopsy during surgery. The mass was not cancer but scar tissue had adhered itself to both ovaries, my bladder and intestines. Dr. Santoso knew exactly what to do. He performed the planned hysterectomy and skillfully excised scar tissue from major organs so that I could look forward to a healthy life. Yes! He is so amazing. I was so nervous when I was told I had to have a hysterectomy. However when I meet Dr. Santoso his smile was EVERYTHING he just so nice. GREATEST DR EVER! I was referred to Dr. Santoso and it was the best decision ever to go to him. The office staff was exceptional. Very Caring and were quick to respond to any calls or questions I had. I'm very overweight and Dr. Santoso advised me to lose weight for health reasons. I had already begun a life change in my eating habits. So this was good encouragement. Every visit when I had lost weight Dr. Santoso was very encouraging . When I went for my last follow up appointment I had lost 16 pounds. Let me tell you, Dr. Santoso was so excited you would have thought he won the lottery. I have never had a doctor that was so happy for me. He told me how proud he was and said he knew I could do it. This has made a great impression on me. At the end of visit, I told Dr. Santoso that everyone--from the young lady who checked us in at the desk, to the one who called us back and hurriedly whisked us towards an exam room, to the APN who introduced herself as she came through the door and proceeded to talk to us like she'd always known us, rather than this being our first meeting, right down to the good doctor himself, Dr. Santoso, who has been well-trained by his staff and--acted as though they hadn't seen people in decades and were creepily (in a good way) glad to see us. Getting ready to leave, I mentioned this to "Doc," he responded, "Well, we enjoy what we do." I felt then that I was where I was supposed to be...very courteous, very kind, very humane. My daughter and I agreed that they make you feel like they are gonna take care of you.

I've been coming for five years and he's always been the most wonderful doctor. He always takes care of all of my concerns. My visits have always been very quick. Staff has always been really great.

After receiving the news that I had Uterine Cancer, my GYN referred me to Dr. Santoso. My first visit was great and he explained all about my cancer. He did tell me that I needed to lose weight. So began the diet and delays to get my hysterectomy. I have a neck issue and the anesthesia team would not clear me until I had been seen my a neurologist. So after more tests and more delays, three months later I had my hysterectomy. I had to have the open abdominal kind. By the time I had surgery I had lost 26 lbs. Dr. Santoso was very encouraging during this time even though I was not always on my best behavior during some of our visits. Between the delays, Covid, and having deal with the stress of cancer and dieting sometimes it was just too much. At my post-op visit with Dr. Santoso he was so happy with my healing and continued weight loss. We don't always want to hear how fat we are but I always knew that he was FOR me, that my life was worth the continued work ahead.

I highly recommend Dr. Santoso. I was sent to him by my OBGYN. I immediately felt at ease with Dr. Santoso. He communicates well and he is very knowledgeable and experienced and his staff are courteous and helpful.

Wonderful staff wonderful assistants Best surgeon anywhere So Blessed to have a surgeon that God has Blessed with healing hands I thank God for Dr Joseph Knowledge and skills he is a gifted surgeon I highly recommend him for any female surgery required. He was my sister in laws surgeon 5 years ago she was diagnosed with endometrial cancer he performed surgery and she required no treatments he was an awesome physician In December of this year her cancer reoccured he was very honest and upfront He said there was only a 10% chance of survival but that he would do everything he could And that he did she went through intense chemo with many side effects she had a bacterial infection on more than one occasion she was hospitilized twice During this time he said if we wanted another opinion he would understand and that he would still be her doctor But we knew in our hearts that he was the one we needed he had to do a bowel repair due to complications from chemo During a scan he found that the cancer was shrinking and he said when I go in to do the repair if he could get the cancer he would and that he did With a 10% chance to survive in December We are happy to say that she is now cancer free Dr Joseph saved her life we are awaiting a coloscapy bag reversal And then hopefully it will just be follow ups by the way I loved giving him a hard time he sometimes is just too serious lol Wonderful staff wonderful assistants Best surgeon anywhere So Blessed to have a surgeon that God has Blessed with healing hands I thank God for Dr Joseph Knowledge and skills he is a gifted surgeon … More

Love Dr Santoso!!! He is highly recommended due to his professionalism, knowledge and wit. He is also an OBGYN doctor and was great in handling my issue with irregular bleeding. He gave me choices and he is very funny!! I recommend him to all of you!!

Without warning my situation in life changed. After visiting my local ER we were referred to Dr Joseph Santoso. They were able to quickly accommodate us into their schedule. Upon arriving for our appointment we were greeted by free Valet Parking, an attendant who had a wheelchair ready and helped us get where we needed to go. After we checked in his staff were courteous, kind and conscientious with a very short wait time in the waiting room. Dr Santoso is one of the kindest, most gentle people I have ever met. He knew my case, had studied my test results and laid out the options that I had. Following the morning consultation I had surgery that afternoon. Dr. Jospeh Santoso is amazing. I truly thank God for placing this surgeon in my life! About a month ago I went to get my annual physical, upon my assessment my abdomen resulted as abnormal, followed by an ultrasound that indicated a form of a large cyst, followed by a STAT CT scan which resulted in a massively large tumor (25 x 10 x 13) possible Teratoma Tumor. I was immediately referred to his office, still not quite sure what was going on exactly. All of this was happening very fast and Although walking by Faith I was still afraid. It couldn’t be determined if it was benign or malignant or where it originated from. I do know it pressed everything in my abdomen and appeared that my ovaries to possible my uterus may needed to be removed. He was upfront saying we wouldn’t know until he got in there but he addressed all of my family and I concerns and was comforting. His office was the first time I broke down crying and saw the image of my tumor. He explained everything to me with my options and his professional recommendations on how to proceed. His team and office staff was also very supportive and professional. Risk and complications all sounded scary with surgery and the thought of losing my fertility was also frightening. I’m a 25 year old female with no children but this tumor had finally been revealed. It explained symptoms I been experiencing for years. Dr.Santoso’s energy, professionalism, and spirit was amazing. The entire experience from beginning to end has been amazing! My surgery was not only a success , the midline abdominal incision is actually beautiful, and fertility was preserved! The greatest doctor you could be blessed with during a time where you’re not sure what the outcome of surgery may be. I didn’t have a traditional oncological surgery, but I had a serious surgery while giving birth as well as a procedure during pregnancy. I couldn’t have asked for a better doctor. Dr. Santoso’s kindness and compassion is outstanding. He explained things thoroughly and answered all of my questions and concerns. He always reassured me that I’m the patient and my feelings and thoughts were valid. He did an excellent job during surgery and I would make sure if any of my family members needed a surgery that Dr. Santoso performs, that they see him. I went in the ER at Baptist east and that is where I met Dr. Santoso, he is wonderful, caring, great sense of humor, I proceeded with surgery, he was able to get everything. Do not push things off and procrastinate when it comes to your health. I received very good news. I feel very comfortable with him. Dr. Santos is very sweet and very courteous. Casey (Dr. Santoso's PA) was very sweet. I feel very blessed and the whole staff is courteous and nice and I would recommend him to anyone.

THis was a follow up visit, and clarified the questions from surgery and was very attentive. I am very pleased with results.

I give Dr. Santoso and his staff 10 stars and that is not enough. I called to get my mother in law and appointment. I explained her situation, gave them her name and I hung up with them and called her to tell her what I needed her to have sent to them. They found her phone number and called her during our call and they had already seen her CT Scan and set her up and appointment for the next day. They went above and beyond their duties. Dr. Santoso explained everything to her and us. He and his staff were always their to answer questions and help us. I would highly recommend him and his office. Our family is forever grateful to them.

From the 1st visit, Dr. Santoso is so personable, informative, very trustworthy, visits from him and the other doctors was outstanding. Answered all questions in a very timely manner. The post op was very impressive, from the follow ups and my questions was taken care of very quickly. He has an awesome bedside manner.

Dr Santoso what a blessed an wonderful Dr the Lord has blessed us with, I used to be so afraid but when Dr Santoso an his staff walk in the room all my fears go away he gives good hugs an encouragement an he's so funny ,he's so caring. My first time meeting him in February 2018 ,he told me I'm here to help you an that he has done ,the anointing of his hands is healing, I just thank God for him, now I've gone threw internal an external radiation , almost done with chemotherapy I'm just so Greatful ,Thank you Dr Santoso an your staff a thousand times an more saving my life, I will tell anyone who is looking for the best oncologists, Dr Santoso is the best Dr for you...
