Dr. Joseph R Steeger

I have been to Dr. Steeger several times over the last two months, very frustrated with my inability to breath. I am unable to do anything more than walking. I also have a very loud and dry cough. First, he didn't listen to my symptoms, but after my spirometer results, he saw that it was "real", which is an obstruction in my breathing and he ordered the necessary tests. The most frustrating thing for me is that he requires I come in and discuss each outcome of a test, including blood tests. I work full-time and this has really impacted my job. I have to get the test done, sometimes on site or off site, and then schedule a follow-up. And then getting a follow-up in a reasonable amount of time seems very difficult.?? I will admit he is trying his best to figure out what is wrong, but when you can't breath, waiting another week for him to meet with you after a test is really very stressful. It would be nice if he could call with the results.

Dr Steeger showed very little interest in my medical issues and the potential for my test results pointing to a disease process. His seeming disinterest prompted me to seek a second opinion. I’m so glad I did...Dr Steeger failed to recognize a very serious result of 3 Cat scans of my lungs over the past year and a half. I am now preparing for surgery in my left lung.

He makes you feel very comfortable and relaxed , answers all question in a clear manner so he don't have to repeat himself. Always enjoy my visits

We met Dr. Steegert when my husband was admitted to the ER at RWJ at Hamilton with an extensive blood clot in his leg. I consider myself a Dr. Snob, and I hold my doctors to a very high standard. Dr. Steegert exceeded expectations. He spent considerable time with my husband and I, taking the time to answer all our questions and providing us with information so that we could work with him as a team to determine the best path of care. I recommend him very highly.

He was too quick to make judgement based on age and appearance of patient. In this case he missed the boat on a very serious diagnosis by not really listening.
