Dr. Joseph Folsom Woodward

Dr. Woodward and his staff did an amazing job and were very efficient. Dr. Woodward has a wonderful personality and was excellent at explaining the process, as well as educating me on what was going on without talking down Dr. Woodward & his staff made me feel comfortable throughout my surgery. You can tell there was great attention to detail during the surgery and I healed very quickly. Good as new!

I had and still have absolute confidence in Dr. Woodward and other staff members. The office is great and puts you at ease. Reminder messages for appointments keep me on task and all the auxiliary departments are housed within the same building. Although I spent more time with his support staff, after talking with other orthopedic surgeons, I felt confident that Dr. Woodward was the surgeon to go see to fix the pain in my thumb and hand. As others have noted, Dr. Woodward made treatment suggestions, but ultimately left decisions about my care up to me. After working thru physical/occupational therapy and the use of Voltaren gel I decided to go forward with Carpometacarpal joint Arthroplasty. I am now a month post-surgery and I have a smooth scar, full mobility and NO PAIN in my thumb any more. My recovery wasn't nearly as painful and my rehabilitation wasn't as long as predicted. Dr. Woodward's surgery team was also , especially Dr. Leith. Citizens of Bothell/Kirkland and are so lucky to have an expert like Dr. Woodward on staff at Evergreen public hospital.

Office Visits: I came to Dr. Woodward because my thumb and hand hurt every day/all day. I had little grip strength and found opening jars etc. impossible! Office is soothing and reminder messages for appointments kept me on task. It is also nice that ancillary departments are housed within the same building. Interaction with Dr. W, (and some research,) reassured me of his expertise and experience. After working thru occupational therapy and the liberal use of Voltaren gel, I decided to bypass injection treatments and go forward with Carpometacarpal Arthroplasty. Dr. Woodward made treatment suggestions, but ultimately left decisions about my care up to me. Day of Surgery: Dr. W and his surgical staff all had excellent bedside manner and put me at ease. I was comfortable and excited about my projected outcome. Post Surgery: I am now a month post-surgery and I have a smooth scar, full mobility and NO PAIN in my thumb and hand.

Dr. Woodward did a carpal tunnel release surgery on both hands. It gave me immediate relief. The swelling and pain are not that bad. Ice and meds are enough. I suggest anyone with this issue see him. Also my surgery team was amazing! Corey has it under control!! My nurse Anna ♥️ ❤️ ???? ???? ????

Dr Woodward did an excellent skin graft on my right hand after Mohs surgery. He thoroughly explained the procedure to me prior to surgery and monitored the healing afterward. His demeanor was always friendly and listening skills were always accommodating and informative to my questions. I could not be more pleased with the overall treatment and results.

Dr. Woodward was amazing from the get go. I was under a lot of wrist pain. I had excellent support with diagnosis and the surgery that followed. I am in a much better state. Thank you doctor.

Dr. Woodward did a masterful job on by right hand. Prior to surgery he explained what he would do and how long it would take. Explained how long recovery and physical therapy would take. It has gone just as he said. I’m very impressed with his suture skills. It’s only been 6 weeks and there isn’t much of a scar. I have full range of motion and am just working on strength and flexibility. I give Dr Woodward a 12 out of 10 for both surgery and communication skills. I had a un bearable pain in one of my finger and i had kept it for several years. Then my primary care doctor suggested to get an opinion from surgeon and i met Dr.Woodword. he told me that I have a glomus Tumor and it needs to be removed. I was little skeptical first but then decided to go for it after getting positive feeling after talking to Dr.Woodword. One of the best doctors i have come across so far. He is very good at talking to patients with their situations and how it can be cured. Also give courage for surgery. My surgery is done now and I feel so good after so many years as there is not even a tiny bit of pain which i had suffered for years. Highly Highly recommended ???? I've had a hand surgery performed by Dr Woodward. I'm highly impressed with his expertise and professionalism. He is informed, to the point, caring and truly an expert in his field. During the initial consult, Dr Woodward nicely explained every single detail I ought to know - about the diagnosis, surgery, post-op care and so on. And then comes the day of my surgery which went real seamless and easy. Dr Woodward spoke to me right before the surgery to again walk me through all the details and care instructions and he also made sure to call my caregiver / family contact, to inform the status of my surgery after its done. I met Dr. Woodward about 3 months ago to look into carpal tunnel surgery. My case was a severe case and surgery was scheduled two weeks later on right wrist. Surgery and recovery were an absolute breeze. I had no pain at all and was excited for the other to get done. Today is Sunday and I had surgery 3 days ago and again no pain whatsoever. There is an amazing team of healthcare professionals at the Evergreen facility in Kirkland. I was impressed with my preoperative and postoperative experience. I had my surgery for dupuytrens disease last month my hand had continued to worsen to a point I was experiencing more and more problems. Dr. Woodward did an amazing job with the surgery and I experienced very little pain with my hand afterwards. Evergreen Hospital was the best and the physical therapist after were grand. Dr Woodward and his staff not only greatly improved my quality of life, they did it with competency, kindness, information, efficiency, and availability. I had a spiral break of my 4th metacarpal, right hand. Dr. Woodward put it back together with 5 screws. 90 days of therapy with Marie and I am 100% healed. 2 inch scar barely shows. Very pleased with the care I received and the results. 90 days ago I didn't think this was possible.

Joe was a terrible Surgeon. He DID NOT preform a successful surgery what’s so ever, had me jump through hoops for 6 WHOLE MONTHS just to say that my bone hadn’t healed a single bit and that I would need another surgery. Aside from this, he is not personable in anyway, is very hard to talk to, and never once had me leaving his office feeling good. I dreaded seeing him every time and I’m writing this review to hopefully urge other people away from making them same mistake I did be seeing him and to see a better and more qualified surgeon in the area. Both wrists had severe carpel tunnel. After surgery, I haven't had any bad numbness or pain. One wrist was badly damages ars ago. Truly happy!!!

Dr. Woodward is a wizard! And his assistant. I had very limited use of both thumbs with extreme pain. He is finished with the left one and it feels fine. I look forward to him working on the right hand. You can't do anything without thumbs!

When I went in to Dr Woodward I had a little finger almost torn off at the joint and broken in three places. I thought he would have to remove it. He completely repaired it and I have full use of it because of him and his wonderful staff. I highly recommend him.

After suffering from arm pain and hands falling asleep/tingling I sought help from Dr. Woodward. I was diagnosed with carpal tunnel and we then proceeded with surgical release in both wrists. His expertise and skill paid off in hardly any pain experienced following the procedures, quick recovery times and excellent results, solving my prior concerns. Woodward & his buddies got my hand fixed up after an annoying cyst set up shop on one of my joints. The process was pretty easy, and they evicted the little guy without incident. My hand can do all its cool hand things again which is pretty sweet. I think the only negative was that it sometimes felt rushed, but it's also a pretty boring procedure in the grand scheme of what can happen to your hand. Dr Woodward and his team are remarkable. My hand and wrist healed really quickly compared to other surgeries I’ve had to have. I loved the pillow to help keep it elevated and it allowed for icing to happen while being elevated. I was able to sleep, I think that helped with pain management and healing. I was referred to this doctor by another Doctor within Evergreen Sport and Spine Care. I had to wait for almost a month to get an appointment while my hand was swollen and I was in pain to work. I arrived for the appointment, met with the nurse and waited for 25 minutes to see the doctor. He walked in, looked at my hand asked me maybe 4 questions, ordered a nerve study and said he doesn't see anything wrong and doesn't know where the swelling is coming from. He spent about 5 minutes with me and trust me I was not impressed with the monotone, uncaring attitude he had. I just received a bill for this office visit- $500 with the Premera insurance adjustment it comes to $302.39. I am sorry but I cannot justify $500 for 5 minutes & I am supposed to go for a follow up appointment with this doctor? My husband and I have been to many specialists and he has undergone 3 steroid spinal injections for his herniated discs. I have never seen such a ridiculous amount to be charged for a specialist office visit. I am going to discontinue my treatments/ follow ups with all of the doctors in this clinic. It feels like a money- making machine with doctors who do not even know what they are doing except just ordering tests and asking for follow up appointments to make more money. Highly dissatisfied! Dr Woodward discussed information with my husband after surgery that should have been only discussed with me. I call for help and he is always booked up and I get shut out. Not happy with his services.

I work for a private medical practice that does not take insurance. We refer our patient's to specialists all over Seattle and the surrounding areas. As insurance companies become more and more limited with who they contract with, it becomes more and more difficult to find doctors who take certain insurances. That being said, I have NEVER run across a medical practice that will turn patient's down because they are "outside of their service area" until now. I have tried to refer two of my patients who have Ambetter to Dr. Woodward and he and his office have been extremely frustrating to work with. My first patient tried to schedule and the first reason for the delay was that he needed to review a patient's records before seeing them. - Which, fine, a lot of doctors want to review records prior to seeing a patient. But, when he started asking if we were just using him as a second opinion, and his reluctance to see our patient because of it, that's when it started getting weird. After some persuasion, they FINALLY schedule our patient to be seen... Which, apparently, they did by accident. When I referred my second patient to their office they told him that he couldn't be seen because he lived outside of their service area. Mind you, both of my patients live in Seattle and Dr. Woodward is in Kirkland. This is why my first patient shouldn't have been scheduled. Fortunately/unfortunately, there was a new person who didn't know about the "service areas" and booked her appointment by mistake. Ambetter has very few hand surgeons available in their network and working around their system to have someone seen by an out of network provider is extremely complicated. Dr. Woodward IS contracted, but I'm going to go out on a limb and guess that the reason that he doesn't want to see those patients is due to the poor reimbursement rates. I also have the feeling that he has a bit of an ego, based off of my experience and the other reviews that I've seen. If you have Ambetter and are looking to schedule an appointment with a hand specialist, I would save myself the trouble and find another provider. Proliance Ortho in Bellevue is a great alternative and they have been very helpful, and their surgeons have better reviews. I work for a private medical practice that does not take insurance. I went in for a visit, I wanted to ask questions, and he reacted almost frustratedly, as if he had no time to speak with me at all. After the time I had to spend waiting to see him, I felt that his attitude was a little disrespectful.
