Best Decision I have ever made. Dr. Dines is amazing and very easy to talk to. I had a total Shoulder replacement and after 3 months I feel great. I highly recommend.

In June of 2019 I suffered a fall resulting in a massive shoulder injury. I basically tore everything completely. Dr. Dines completed my surgery in early July at he Hospital for Special Surgery. Everything went very well and I was very happy with Dr. Dines and also HSS. Throughout the process, everyone involved made me feel cared for. Even the after-care and pain management were excellent. It is now early November 2019 and I am still in therapy, but my progress has been better than hoped for. My shoulder feels great and I am moving quickly toward being 100% again. My range of motion has completely returned and I am gaining strength very rapidly. I credit Dr. Dines' amazing abilities for repairing my destroyed shoulder so well. Even my scars are barely visible at this early time I cannot thank you enough Dr. Dines! Update: It is now February 2020. My "bad" shoulder is now stronger, better and more flexible than the "good" one. I couldn't be happier with the surgery and Dr. Dines. March 2022 update: The shoulder healed great and I had my other shoulder done by Dr. Dines. I tore the rotator cuff and bicep tendon on the other arm I am now 6 weeks post-op and progressing very quickly. Another amazing job by Dr. Dines. Could not be happier. Dr Dines is a marvel at his specialty e.g. shoulder replacement. I recently replaced my second shoulder. First one three yrs ago is perfection. . Can do everything a healthy shoulder can. Second shoulder was done four weeks ago and well on its way to match first. Plus should be said…….He is a nice guy.

Dr. Joshua Dines is very professional, an amazing surgeon, answered all my questions pre and post op. He performed my left shoulder decompression on 6/1/21 and I got my range of motion and strength back within 2 months. Incredible results! I will highly recommend him to all my family and friends. I had a bike accident and badly broke my shoulder with 3 displacements on 5/2. On 5/7 I had an Open Reduction Internal Fixation of the Proximal Humerus. Lots of screws and a big metal plate live in my shoulder now. Dr. Dines and his team did an amazing job and were there for me every step of the way during my recovery. I would email him when things didn't seem right, and he even called me on a Saturday afternoon after receiving one of my messages crying out in pain. He put me at ease, told me it was "normal" and continued to follow up to ensure that the new pain meds he rx'd were working. As I continued through my recovery and all subsequent visits, he was thorough and attentive. (He's like the energizer bunny but whenever I had questions, he slowed down to answer them all.) 3 months post- surgery and PT with Island Sports PT in Huntington and I rode my bike again yesterday! Would not hesitate to recommend Josh Dines and his wonderful team at HSS.

Dr. Joshua Dines, is an excellent orthopedic surgeon. He successfully completed an ACL reconstruction July 2016 on my right knee. Because of his precision work, I was able to get back into regular motion immediately. Before I had the procedure done, I visited with three different surgeons. I chose Dr. Joshua Dines because of his patience, candor, and record. All of the staff (Valerie, Carol, Linda) I dealt with were professional, courteous, proficient, and intelligent. It made the entire process easier! In a good way, I hope I never have to see him again! However, if I need a surgery that's in his field, I won't have to do any searching! I called the doctors office, I had a terrible injury while responding to a call (I’m a volunteer Firefighter) and destroyed both my shoulders. Unfortunately one of the best doctor in the country does not help folks injured on the job. I guess he has no time for someone hurt helping his neighbors. THANKS DOC ???? Dr. Joshua Dines is the absolute best! He is an expert surgeon with a great personality. He truly cares about his patients and getting you back to your favorite activities. I have had quite a few orthopedic issues and have been treated by some of the “top Doctors” you may see as you research. Trust me there is no comparison to Dr. Dines, he is head and shoulders above the others. He has surrounded himself with an incredible staff, specifically Brynn Aakjar, PA and Val DeStefano. If you do require surgery there is no better place than HSS. Do yourself a big favor and just call the office and make an appointment. You will be extremely glad you did. I had complications from recent shoulder replacement surgery and I went to Dr Joshua Dines for a 2nd opinion before scheduling follow up surgery. Dr. Dr Dines took the time to listen to and answer all of my questions and concerns. He then explained in detail, the nature of the complications and the type of surgical procedure necessary to make the repairs. His highly efficient and responsive team (Linda and Valerie) quickly got me scheduled for surgery at HSS and helped me navigate the insurance approval process. I am 2 weeks out of surgery, pain free and I already feel the difference in the functionality and comfort in my shoulder. I am over 60 and very active and while I am still early in the recovery process, I am very grateful to Dr Dines and his staff for helping me get back to the active lifestyle I previously enjoyed.

OUTSTANDING! I've dealt with a partially torn rotator cuff for about 3 years, 2 different orthopedists, before I was referred to Dr. Dines. From the very first visit he told me exactly what I needed to do, and still respected my decision to do another round of therapy before deciding on surgery. After another round of unsuccessful therapy I opted for the surgery. I had surgery 12/26/18 and started therapy 1/7/19. Through consistent therapy and follow up appointments, Dr. Dines told me by July 4 I would forget I ever had surgery. HE WAS ABSOLUTELY CORRECT. My arm feels better than it has in years. Dr. Dines, his PA Matt, office assistant, and the whole HSS staff were amazing. I HIGHLY recommend.

Joshua Dines he had done two of my total shoulder replacement surgery right and left before him I seen another orthopedic did 23 surgery on both shoulders and both shoulders where in bad shape the total shoulder replacement surgery did not take due to my rotator cuffs where so damaged in both shoulders dr . Dines did a revision on righ shoulder in March what a great job now end of October doing left revision on shoulder dr . After severely injuring my shoulder training Brazilian JiuJitsu and wrestling, and after two (2) miserable failed surgeries preformed by another doctor, Dr.Joshua Dines preformed an allograft reconstruction rotator cuff repair on my left shoulder. The rotator cuff, labrum, and bicep were torn and shredded in what I had been told by other doctors was damaged beyond repair. Dr Dines, after an initial consultation, assured me that he would be able to get my shoulder as healthy prior to my injuries, or at least close to it. Soon after my surgery with Dr. Dines, I knew I was on the path to a full recovery. It's been 3 months since surgery, and although I'm not 100%, I'm at least 70 % back to original form, and feel I should be back to full training in another couple of months. This in spite of several doctors telling me I'd never be able to train JiuJitsu or wrestle ever again. In short, any athlete that has a severe shoulder problem, before giving up hope, should consult with Dr Dines. I thank God I found Joshua Dines as I was just about ready to throw in the towel!! We saw Dr. Dines to treat my 16 year old son who is an avid baseball player. Dr. Dines was extremely patient with us each time we were in his office (whether NYC or LI). He spent a great deal of time with us explaining our options and answering any questions we had. He allowed us extra time in his office to discuss treatment options privately with our son. He was very straightforward with treatment options and shared his experiences with other patients with similar symptoms to our son. We would highly recommend Dr. Dines. Dr Dines is awesome!! I had constant shoulder dislocations over 10 years but I am so glad I decided to see Dr Dines! He is amazing. He doesn’t waste your time, as soon as you arrive, you are called in. He explained everything and did a repair surgery to my labrum. There were no complications and the incisions are so small, and barely noticeable! I would definitely recommend Dr Dines to anyone. He has solid expertise and impeccable bedside manner. Overall a phenomenal doctor.

I am very disappointed in dr dines cursory post surgical assessment -surgical assessment and his disinterest in attempting to diagnose my post surgery concerns. I sincerely regret that I used dr dines as a surgeon. Dr. Joshua Dines had performed a total shoulder replacement of my left arm. The results were very disappointing. I was never informed before, or even after the surgery, that my tendon would be and was severed to perform the procedure. I felt I was deceived by Dines when I asked about the deformity of my bicep and was told it was due to atrophy, and the pain that I was still experiencing after completing the required therapy was due to needing more therapy. He ordered neither an X-ray nor an MRI to see what the problem was, which lead me to believe that he knew exactly what was causing the pain; the severed tendon. Both hemispheres of my bicep were functioning normally, pain-free, prior to surgery. If the tendon was in bad shape, as Dines claimed, it would have been painful for me to use my arm. My friend of over 70 years of age had the same procedure done by another surgeon. The severing of his tendon was NOT required. Was the tendonectomy / tenotomy necessary, or was it done for convenience and expediency, at my expense? It’s hard for me to believe that an experienced, highly recommended surgeon like Dines would perform a Tenodesis that would fail so easily, if one was done as Dines claims. And it failed before the sling came off. I’ve gone from being disheartened, thinking it was absolutely necessary to have my tendon severed, and that I might have inadvertently signed a consent form to have it done, to being very angry discovering that it wasn’t necessary. I highly recommend Dr. Dines. He repaired my son's labrum. Although he seemed rushed, he really did take time to explain my son's condition and walk us through the different options. By the time he finished, we felt very comfortable moving forward with the surgery. He did a great job. We were extremely happy with him and with HSS. Great experience! High recommend!

Very easy to speak with. Really seems to know his stuff. I had surgery for my torn meniscus on Monday. I went home on crutches Monday afternoon. But Tuesday morning, I was walking up and down the stairs in my house unassisted. I was driving by Wednesday and back to work today (Thursday). While I hope to never have to have surgery again, if I do, it will be with Dr. Dines.
