Dr. Ka Wai Tam

Dr. Tam has a great bedside manner and is helpful when seeing him "in person" but his level of patient care ends there. The biggest issue I have seen over the last 5+ years being a patient of Dr Tam is his complete REFUSAL to ever respond to patient emails or phone calls. In this day in age responding to emails should be second nature. There's no excuse for him to not respond to someone's medical needs or questions. Unfortunately, you can be in the hospital on your deathbed and Dr Tam would not respond in any way. He honestly could care less what happens once you leave his office. As for the front desk staff at Foster City Medical, they are even worse. They are rude and extremely unprofessional. Either they will not give messages to Dr. Tam or Dr. Tam just doesn't care to return messages. If you want good patient care and friendly staff, go somewhere else.

Everything is fine when I can actually communicate with or see the doctor, but the front desk staff are rude and unhelpful. They don’t relay messages or requests to Dr. Tam. And it doesn’t seem like Dr. Tam or the rest of the practice are trying to rectify this shortcoming. I recommend everyone avoid coming here. They are one of the most frustrating practices where I’ve sought basic treatment and primary care.

Dr. Tam is okay when I can actually hear from him. The practice logistically is a mess. Their front desk staff is insufferably rude and condescending, and they never relay patients’ asks to Dr. Tam. I keep calling back multiple times hours and days later only to be told that they have not been able to tell the doctor yet. Also, has anyone ever received an email reply from their staff when the patient actually needs something? This practice leaves so much to be desired. Patients are left hanging high and dry. I recommend everyone stay away from here.

Dr. Tam is alright but the front desk staff at Foster City Medical Center are terrible and rude. They don’t help at all, and they never convey messages or requests to Dr. Tam. I keep following up on requests only to be told that they haven’t been able to relay them to the doctor. The only way I can hear from Dr. Tam is by making an appointment. Horrible quality service to the patients. They could use some extra training in this area.

Does not answer emails. I had my lab work completed and needed a refill on my Rx. I emailed him. It’s been 3 weeks and no response. I wonder if he still works there!

Excellent doctor, Dr Tam listens and is very polite and I didn't feel rushed to discuss my medical problem. Highly recommended.
