Dr. Karan Madan

My experience with Dr. Madan was pretty good although my wait time was very long as I was there for over 2 hours. My procedure was done in sugerland by someone else and she was wonderful, however my experience with the rude manager in the billing department who hung up on me because I asked her to please stop speaking over me and let me speak is what lead me to canceling my appointment for this Thursday. I called Asking why weren’t my claims sent over to my insurance company. Mind you I work for the insurance company so when I seen the claim hasn’t been sent I called in and was told by my insurance company that none of my visit were submitted. I called in to get an explanation as to why they were and I was told that they were busy. I then asked so the $356.97 I paid out of pocket because I was told that that’s my out of pocket fee, was that my actual fee or just a guesstimate? I was told it was a guesstimate, my next question was how did they come up with that amount? And to say the lease I could have owed less or could have worded more. She then told me they go based on what they THINK the insurance will pay and then charge you the rest. That is NOT how insurance work and definitely not how they should be billing. Please be aware if you are choosing to go here to be seen, make sure you are being ripped off or having to over pay for services. Lastly, I hope No one has to deal with the rude and very disrespectful woman that they choose to be a manager. I have Cancelled my future appointments and refuse to give them any more of my time or money, especially if I’m going to be yelled at, disrespected and hung up on because I called Seeking clarification on why there’s no claims showing from my visits on 12/8/22 or 12/16/22.

Dr. Madan is patient, polite , takes time with his patients and has helped me take care of issues and avoid surgeries.

Always very professional. Actually listens to his patients and makes a plan together. Office staff is great too.

Dr Madan could be a decent doctor but the office is so poorly managed there’s no way to know unless you have hours to waste trying to make an appt, speak to someone at the office or wait in the waiting room where they’re constantly running behind. From start to finish my experience at Dr. Madan’s office has been exceptional. Scheduling an appointment, calling with questions, checking out, etc., is very pleasant and easy. During the 5 years I have been a patient, Karen and Bert are the friendly faces in the office and voices on the phone. I find it’s rare today to have that consistency in a physician’s office. With his knowledge, professionalism, and genuine care for his patients, Dr. Madan helped her enjoy many years free of pain. I have been coming here for years. I won’t go to anyone else. Dr. Madan is very knowledgeable on not only medications but other medical problems as well and how to treat them. His bedside manner is awesome but the part I like the most is he actually listens to what you are telling him! It is evident his patients and their long term care is his ultimate priority. The front office staff is just as amazing. Bert always does his best to accommodate my schedule and needs whenever possible. He and Karen always make me feel like family whenever I speak with them. Horrible. I drove 120 miles for an appointment with him, waited, only to learn he wasn't there on that day. They were going to have me seen by a different doctor, not the one I was referred to. Staff evidently cannot read a referral.

I really feel terrible for some of the folks who came to Dr Madan in terrible pain from RA or a violent car wreck. They have major pain issues I would not wish on my worst enemy. I do not think any pain doctor can give such unfortunate folks all the relief they desire and deserve. But Dr Madan certainly helped me a great deal. I had a double rupture of my lowest back disc and another bulging disc. I had 3 surgeries in just 18 days, two on my lower back. My pain stayed between a level 4 and 10 for 130 consecutive days 24/7. The pain was usually between levels 6 and 8 for 75% of that time. After my 2nd back operation, my neurosurgeon sent me to an excellent orthopedic surgeon. He did X-rays and test injections but couldn't help me. He referred me to Dr Madan as a semi-emergency patient because of my never ending pain due to nerve damage. Dr Madan's office staff called me and got me in for an appointment in only 2 hours. I was quickly scheduled for injections in a week and given a strong pain medication to get me thru that week. After my 2 back injections, my pain started dropping the very next day. Within a week 90% of my pain was gone. A month later 98% of my pain was gone. I just got a second set of back injections and am looking forward to 100% relief in no time. Dr Madan had access to all my medical records through his association with Methodist Hospital. He took steps to protect my transplanted liver when he delt with my pain medications. I feel I got complete quality care. The office staff were ALL polite and sweet to me. They worked with me and were very considerate of my pain when I first arrived. I am so thankful my doctors all knew where to send me to finally get me the pain help I needed. Dr Madan also gave me great advice as to how and when I would truly recover from my back surgeries. I needed that accurate time frame to know what to expect. Thank you Dr Madan. STAY AWAY!!! SEE ANYONE BUT DR. MADAN!! I've never been in a motor vehicle accident that almost claimed my life (July 30, 2018). My first and only appointment with Dr. Madan was HORRIBLE (just about 3 1/2 hours from start to finish). PRIOR to said appointment, I spent over $50.00 getting records Dr. Madan requested. I came in prior to my appointment time to fill out over 16 pages for Dr. Madan since their email was CONTINUALLY down (they couldn't send me the paperwork), therefore, my need for early arrival was requested. When I finally was seen by Dr. Madan, he asked why my neurosurgeon didn't send exactly what he wanted Madan to do. I could not answer. I did not know. I explained that my neurosurgeon was prescribing pain medication, and, as I was about to continue my statement, Madan said, "If that was all I needed, he could direct me elsewhere." Now, if that ACTUALLY were the case, I probably would have said something like that too, but, I wanted help from debilitating pain in the way of treatment too. The horrible spine injuries, my transverse colon perforating my chest wall less than 1/4 in. from my heart (seatbelt syndrome), an unknown hernia rupturing, internal bleeding, my right wrist and thumb breaking, and nerve damage that I sometimes think I would be better off dead. No, I will not quit. I called and made a follow up, and, according to his office, they made an error (which I found out later by ME calling to double ck the time of my SCHEDULED appt.) in scheduling me. They said they didn't have to explain ANYTHING to me. I have since found out he "looked" at my prescription history and declined. How I wish he would have also LOOKED at my MEDICAL HISTORY. Sadly, I have endured 18 surgeries in over 30 years, BUT, 17 have been IN THE LAST 12 YEARS. I have COME TO REALIZE the DEA has created a crapstorm (putting it mildly) of asshat pain doctors scared of their own shadows. THIS EXPERIENCE IS NOT ISOLATED!!! I NEED help badly. I am scared, and I AM IN PAIN. If anyone knows of a pain doc with a double-set of what is needed to ACTUALLY help, I live in Houston, Texas. Dr. Madan, "...contempt prior to a (thorough) investigation leaves a man (you) in everlasting IGNORANCE..." He was very disrespectful to me, and I felt very belittled and hurt! I no longer want to have visits with Dr. Madan. I had to call on monday because I ran out of my pain medication. My mistake, I wasn't keeping track of what I had left. I called Monday morning and Bert was able to schedule me in for Tuesday @1:45pm. We left home @1pm and was home @3:30pm with a new prescription. His interns were great, and the nurses were great. The best pain management doctor I have ever been to. He was able to diagnose my problem on the FIRST visit. After years of no answers. We made a treatment plan together and got started with some small procedures. He is very attentive, kind, empathetic and above all he will take the extra time just to listen to you. I recommend Dr, Madan very highly. The doctor that I was seeing before him was in Memorial City and nothing but a drug dealer. Dr. Madan has taken time to get to know me and my medical problems. He is one of the best doctors I have seen in my 66 years on this earth.

Made me have two MRI's and then decided I must be a drug addict because I actually wanted pain meds for my crippling rheumatoid arthritis. Whatever happened to do no harm Dr. Quack? I hope the DEA all die a slow, painful death. The Controlled Substance Act of '72 didn't work and now the Opiate Hysteria is trailing down the same path. HORRIBLE, DISORGANIZED, UNPROFESSIONAL OFFICE. To top off the whole unpleasant ordeal, the crotchety front office person was allowed to work while sick with a CHRONIC COUGH that she didn't even cover.

Not accurate in diagnosis for my husband. At the end of the road after several of injections, he will offer neuromodulation that it is expensive, invasive and it does not work. Check neuro..reviews on youtube!

Came here because my Dr referred me since I moved far from my last Dr. I brought in all my previous records, images, and history. I spent an hour and a half waiting, only for the Dr to come in, tell me he wouldn't refill the meds I'd been on for years, that he wouldn't give me any meds because I'm 28 and that if I wanted refills I needed to go back to my last Dr even though he knew they were far away. He ordered 2 MRIs despite me bringing in all my CDs (that he never looked at). That was it. Less then 10 minutes for the whole visit. I've never met a Dr who makes a patient go cold turkey on pain meds. Apparently age also dictates chronic pain levels. I'm too young for replacement so the orthopedics say pain management...this pain management Dr says I'm too young for medicine. I have to warn if you go to this clinic for pain management be aware they are out of network with most insurance companies. Dr Madam is a good Dr, and I had no issues with his medical practice, Dr Madam is in network with my insurance. But this clinics is out of network with my insurance and I received $5k charge for a drug test using urine for specimen. They sent the specimen to an outside lab, they charged $5,000 for the test. This is absurd. Those are a routine lab work should not be more then $300 . Be aware of that out-of-network companies have no contract with your insurance they can charge whatever they please. Also I had several shots done at clinic for pain management and my insurance received a bill for $36,000 after they had already paid Dr Madam for his services. There are a lot scams going on at this clinic and need to be investigated I have to warn if you go to this clinic for pain management be aware they are out of network with most insurance companies. I Love Dr. Madam I have had 2 back surgeries which resulted in a different pain than the one I had surgery for. My mom has an awesome experience. She is 87 years old she fell broke her arm fractured her hip and back . She was in severe pain for four months 24/7. She went to many Drs in SugarLand, medical center including Methodist and Herman memorial neurosurgeons,Orthopedics, and all. She was still in pain till we finally stepped foot in Dr Madan in Katy. He worked on her and he is still working on her and she is amazingly pain free. She is working in the yard and driving which I never though this will ever happen knowing what she passed through !! Hello, I want to start out by saying that Dr Karan Madan is a wonderful doctor. I come from a very small town in Nebraska, so coming to such a large place in Texas was a shock in itself, let a lone trying to find and transfer to new Dr's. I have Lupus SLE, and a few new medical conditions that have come to light since finally finding proper medical care. My conditions are quite painful and take a toll on my family and self, so needless to say, finding someone who was not only a knowledgeable physician, but caring and compassionate, was so important to us. I left behind a physician of this nature in Nebraska and was told with things being so different in a big city, I may not find it. But I did with Dr Madan. He will be very thorough with you so make sure you come prepared with all your most recent records, MRI's, ect....He actually cares about helping you and he can't do that if he doesn't have current information. He even helped me by suggesting a few Physicians for my other conditions, as he could tell we were overwhelmed. His office is clean and very comfortable, the chairs are great! His office staff is upbeat and friendly :) The wait time is good. If you have to wait a little longer than usual, I promise that he will provide you the same great attention and his staff will help with anything you need to stay comfortable.
