At 80yrs. I was bucked off a horse. Rushed to Mission Hospital on a blood thinner for atrial fib. Dr. Kenneth Wilkins and his speciality team stayed that night to saved my life( he already operated earlier that morning) Open book pelvic fracture. Yikes! Today I am so grateful to Ken for putting me back together he is in our Family forever. At 85 still in the Marine business, biking, golfing, workout, dog training. Dr. Wilkens is very unprofessional and constantly yells and staff and people he works with. He treats others as if he is smarter and above everyone. I witnessed how entitled and rude he was to my nurse.

Dr. Wilkens took some time out of his day (unnecessarily) to check up on my broken arm while I was in the hospital for an ulcer. I had spent 4 days in an incredibly understaffed hospital with my arm being severely neglected, but with just half an hour Dr. Wilkens resplinted my arm, rested my worries, and started me on track for actually recovering from my injury. The next day he even called me to make sure I was discharged, and gave me updates on my injury after consulting with a hand specialist. In a hospital awash with incompetence Dr. Wilkens certainly stands out. Great doctor, great guy, his work and dedication is much appreciated.

I am so lucky that Dr Wilkens practices in Culver City and was available to see me at the ER there last December, where I went after falling and breaking my wrist . I had already spent several hours in the Emergency loud and chaotic environment, laying on a thin, unappealing mattress, a lukewarm ice pack on my painfully swollen and deformed wrist and an occasional fleeting visit with sporadic information or treatment by a doctor or a nurse. I was feeling increasingly vulnerable and apprehensive, but Dr Wilkens’ presence reassured me from the very beginning: he clearly explained the extent of my injury with patience and genuine concern and I began to relax. He listened to my doubts and answered all of my questions, and discussed with warmth and care the surgical options available considering the severity of my injury and my lifestyle. As a patient I felt respected, empowered and heard. I trusted his empathy and skill to guide and support me all the way through my healing process and I have been amply rewarded: 3 months later I may have some metal in my wrist but have regained most of my movements and am delighted with the results.

Incredible human being… and that is the first attribute a doctor should have! Knowledgeable, great manners, great heart!! Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Dr. Wilkens is true professional at the top of his game. I can’t say enough wonderful things to thank him for putting my son’s ankle back together after a traumatic dirt bike accident. This is the man to go to when you need the best surgeon.

As the result of a head-on crash, my husband had a badly smashed kneecap. Dr Wilkens attached the lower tendon to one piece of the patella, the upper tendon to another, cleaned out the smashed fragments as far as possible, and then created a wire mesh kneecap and sewed him up. That was September 2016. In the third week of October, we returned to Wisconsin after a final visit with Dr Wilkens. "Move to the adaptable immobilizer when you get back, and keep up the physiotherapy. You should be able to walk, but you'll probably have a bit of a limp." Thanks to a fantastic doctor, my 90 year old husband now marches the length of West Towne Mall in Madison for exercise, end-to-end, and back again, free swinging and NOT limping. Video to follow!
