Thanks to this wonderful surgeon, I have my husband back. My husband started falling and was unable to control his balance. We had more visits to the ER by ambulance being told nothing was wrong. Then my husband had another episode and I brought him to Southern Hills Hospital. Best move we ever made. They diligently worked to find the reason why a healthy man was experiencing these life altering episodes. That is where we met Dr. K. Poelstra. ordering a MRI of Neck/Spine and there it was a crack in the neck. As they talked surgery, both my husband and I cringed. But Dr. Poelstra was so knowledgeable and experienced about the ACDF (Anterior cervical discectomy and fusion) procedure. Next day it got done. The next day my husband was up walking, steady on his feet, wanting to go home. I won't lie he had to wear a collar around his neck and no driving for 2 weeks and he had a little sore throat but it was a small price to pay for getting your active life back. I can't say enough about Dr.

I met Dr. Kornelis Poelstra in early 2022. I was loosing my ability to walk or stand for any length of time; also I was loosing strength and dexterity in my arms and hands. I was told by various Drs. I had neuropathy, but never given any treatment plan to reverse the direction of these symtoms. Very frustrating. After several apptmts. & mri's, Dr. (KP) came up with a treatment plan for my symtoms. I was impressed with his ability to explained all of my options and taking all the time I needed with my many questions. The bottom line, I trusted him. I wanted treatment on my lower extremities first, even though my upper spine was in tougher shape. Two injections in my lower spine gave me some relief and feeling in my legs. I was scheduled Mar. 22nd for surgery on my upper spine, c-5,6,7. Dr,. KP saw me before & after the surgery & was always positive and reassuring. The surgery was a success w feeling & strength returning. My recovery has been great. Thankyou Dr. Poelstra.

Dr. Poelstra performed decompression surgery on my lower back on 3/15/22. I had severe leg pain in both legs for the last 8 months. I was impressed with Dr. Poelstra from my first appointment, he explained to me exactly what was wrong and how he was going to fix it in terms I understood. He has an exceptional bed side manner and treated my wife and I as if he had known us for years. I know it has been three weeks since my surgery but I have had no complications and I am out of pain. I stopped my pain meds after 4 days. I call that a win win. Dr. Poelstras team was as professional and caring as he was throughout the whole process. He is a crazy doctor !! Tore my spine & neck .. I am suffering ( because he loves to cut on people

I had my surgery Nov 3rd, 2021 ACDF C5-C7 and before my surgery was scared to death! Dr Poelstra and staff were there to answer any questions or concerns I had and explained the procedure and recovery process thoroughly. Even though I was still very nervous and who isn't before having a surgery, I knew it was necessary due to being in pain and numbness and tingling down both arms to my fingers. Since surgery I have had no more numbness and tingling! I can actually feel my fingers again! I'm 6 weeks post op as I'm writing this and feeling pretty close to normal, and feeling stronger every day. Recovering hasn't been even close to as bad as I thought it would be and looking back I had nothing to be afraid of! Thank goodness I went through with it and thank you Dr Poelstra.

I have been working with Dr. Polestra since the beginning of 2021, after working with some doctors in for over 5 years. Yet by August, he was able to do a cervical neck surgery and replace two discs. Then, due to such good recovery, was able to have two more discs replaced in my lower lumbar in October. He and his staff of Dr. Wells and everyone else were AMAZING from day one of our meeting. Now at 50 years of age, I feel I have my life back after years crippling, relentless pain. Truly the only Doctor I have trusted whole heartedly for a very long time, and you should too!

I had a failed back surgery 2 years ago. My spine was supported by a single piece of plastic. Dr. Poelstra knew immediately what was wrong (lower lumbar fusion) and scheduled a 2 day back surgery. I was up and walking within hours after the first and second surgeries. It has now been almost 3 weeks and I feel 20 years younger. I have surgical pain, but zero back pain. If you need to put your life and your health in someone's hands, please use Dr. Poelstra. There are many surgeons out there which use older style techniques, which cause you the patient excessive recovery time. Using Robotic surgery your pain and recovery is greatly reduced. I had honestly given up hope, and it was very hard to believe that he could fix me. He definitely had alot of work to do, but he did it perfectly. I am already able to start decreasing the Oxycodone. I cannot say 'Thank You' enough doc, you are so the man!

I went in for a visit due to severe back pain. Dr. Poelstra was so good at listening to me voice my concerns and he was so caring and compassionate . He got me in for an MRI the same day and two days later I was scheduled for a procedure fir two fractures in my back. My follow up appointment the entire office staff were so nice and asking how I was doing. Dr. Poelstra took the time to explain what they did and my next steps. I was so impressed with the quality of care. Great job!!

He got rid of years of agony from pain problems. He's brilliant.

I highly recommend Dr. Poelstra for spine surgery using ALIF and PLIF for spinal stenosis.

I would highly recommend Dr. Poelstra. There was one instance where he could have performed a surgical procedure to remove a cyst, but it stopped bothering me overnight after months of pain. When I explained I had no pain, Dr. Poelstra said, "If you were my sister, I would advise against this surgery". So I didn't have that particular surgery. Though, a year later, I selected Dr. Poelstra to repair my neck which was affecting my left arm. The surgery was a success and the scar faint.

Dr. Poelstra and his team are an outstanding group. Could not have been happier with the recent back surgery they performed on me. Pain free now after years of agonizing pain. I would highly recommend Dr. Poelstra to anyone anticipating needing spine surgery.

really nice staff, outstanding surgery. I had debilitating sciatica pain for nearly a year. Came out ofoperation by Dr Poelstra pain free. I would recommend him to my mother if she needed spine surgery.

Dr Poelstra is the ONLY Surgeon I would trust for my spinal fusion. I have had (5) Fusions - all failed - except one - Dr. Poelstra said he could fix me; and he did. Top notch advice, follow-ups, Care, recovery plan, etc.... Simply The Best. After 16-Yeras of Pain, 87 Injections, multiple CT & MRI’s, RFI Ablations, physical therapy, and (5) Fusions.... I know what I’m talking about. If you go to ANY OTHER Surgeon —— You will be making a great mistake. Dr. Poelstra IS the Best, Period!

Fantastic surgeon in all elements!!

Well-organized staff, inside the office and at the hospital prior to surgery. Unfortunately, my surgery was about 9 months ago, and I still have the same symptoms. I was told by the PA and Dr. Poelstra that he had a 97 percent success rate on my type of surgery. Apparently, I am in the 3-percent category. When I met with PA and told him I had the same painful situation as I did prior to surgery, he literally just shrugged his shoulders and suggested nerve induction testing. Kinda a bummer there.

Great Experience. I wish all the doctors and clinics work the way these guys???? Do. Always responsive and willing to help. Dr. Kornelis Poelstra is The BEST from my first visit I was blown away ??how helpful and kind he was, how Fast he took care of my problem ?? he is really Knowledgeable and made me feel comfortable throughout my appointment and also during my surgery ???? His Crew Rocks, too ?? I Highly recommend Dr. Poelstra and his medical group.

After my surgery I suffered from sever right leg pain. Dr. Poelstra gave me steroids intravenously which totally stopped my pain. So, he sent me home with a prescription for steroids. After a day or relief from the hospital I started the prescription. It did nothing. I could hardly walk. The his PA suggested a pain shot which did nothing. Since then I haven't been able to see Polestra and I am still in pain. So far my comments aren't shown and I get nothing from his office.

Dr. Poelstra and his team are AMAZING. From first visit to post surgical follow-up they are the best. I'm considered a complicated patient, due to multiple transplants some docs are hesitant to treat me. Dr. Poelstra did not blink, he did the decompression surgery, the result 13 years of pain gone! Anna his PA and Lara the coordinator along with the rest of the team at the office and Hospital are absolutely the best! I will recommend Dr. Poelstra without hesitation to anyone!

I would definitely recommend Dr. Polestra to family and friends. Dr. Polestra is the best back surgeon I've ever encountered. Dr. Polestra fixed my severe back pain without attaching any hardware. During my first visit, it was obvious he was very knowledgeable and experienced. He explained my diagnoses and prognosis in simple terms for my simple mind. After the surgery, his explanations came to fruition without any problems. Outstanding!!!!!

I am a 43 yr old male, active duty military (USN), active life (mostly), that was diagnosed with 4 levels of disc degenerative disease in the lumbar spine back in 2003. I've had multiple pain management treatments over the years; most recently steroid injections that untouched the pain and symptoms radiating to both heals/feet. I had surgery Mar 2nd and have not looked back! Dr Poelstra is amazing and his support staff at Sacred Heart-Destin is amazing as well. I've never been so pleased.

I am a local physician. I've worked in the local area for over a decade and I chose KP to do the surgery on my own back. He fixed me up and I was back at work 10 days after the surgery (lumbar decompression). This guy is awesome.

I am incredibly impressed with the office and staff. Dr Poelstra is a wonderful Dr..He is compassionate and caring. Rachel is wonderful. She changed my medication and I am no longer in pain and do not need the surgery I was dreading ..I would recommend him and his staff without hesitation..

If you are looking to entrust your spine to a surgeon then look no further than Dr. Poelstra. I was terrified of having cervical fusion. I now wish I would have had the surgery done a year earlier. He has is so very kind and is extremely skilled. I had no dysphasia, felt amazing after surgery and my scar looks like it was done by a plastic surgeon! Thank you Dr. Poelstra for giving me quality of life back! I am looking forward to playing with my kids, being able to work out and being pain free!

Dr. Poelstra literally saved my life. He repaired a botched back surgery from another Doctor who preformed surgery in January. Dr. Poelstra did repair surgery and fixed my back and cleaned out all the infection in my back. He told me I wound not be in pain after surgery and He was right. After 8 months of pain I am now pain free and feeling great. Thank God for leading me to him and I only wish that I would have known about him prior to my first surgery. He cares about his patients and health.

The professionalism that Dr Poelstra and his staff exemplified during my treatment and subsequent surgery, could only be considered as excellent and outstanding. I have suffered for years with cervical disc issues and with the guidance and care of Dr. Poelstra and his staff I am now healing and can't thank them enough. Anyone considering surgery should undoubtedly look into the Spine Institute from pain management to surgery, they will help you every step of the way. I can't thank them enough.

He was beyond wonderful! I was only 30 when I learned that I needed a spinal fusion, and working in the healthcare field I knew I needed to find someone who truly knew what they were doing and Dr. Poelstra was the obvious choice. He was warm and caring the first time I met him and he had a great bedside personality, but more importantly, he knew what he was doing and has a good success rate for the surgery I needed. His staff was wonderful and accommodating! Can't recommend him enough!
