About Dr. Kristin Jean Santangelo
Reviews for Dr. Kristin Jean Santangelo
No opportunity to rate the doctor. I couldn't get the office staff to return calls -- always a good first indicator. I repeatedly called as an urgent referral from the E/R -- staff could care less. Flippant and impersonal.

Dr. Santangelo was amazing! As a man having a vasectomy is pretty scary to think about. After the consultation and having everything explained I walked into the procedure with confidence she would do a great job, and boy did she ever. In and out with little to no pain. Recovery was quick and felt back to normal after a day of icing. Thank you, and recommend her to everyone! Dr. Santangelo was amazing! As a man having a vasectomy is pretty scary to think about. I have been to Dr. Santangelo several times and find her an excellent Urologist who listens to my concerns and provides good advice. She is part of a larger practice and wait times can be a bit long, but she more than makes up for that with her hands on approach.
Very informative and communicative.
Dr. Santangelo is the best of the best! Really listened to my concerns and very thorough with her exam and explanation. I highly recommend her! Her office staff is very kind and helpful. Never more than a 5-10 minute wait to see the doctor.
Please read in its entirety. The front office staff and Cindy the office manager are money hungry, lack ethical values and professionalism. I called to schedule an appointment to see Dr. Santangelo and they told me that I had to pay $100 in advance because I had missed and rescheduled appointments dating back to 2014. Since we travel back and forth between CA and Reno, and being that Dr. Santagelo is an excellent doctor, we decided to take a 7 1/2 hour drive so I could have my yearly check up, and agreed to pay $100.00 in advance with the agreement that it would be reimbursed to me as long as I showed up to my appointment. The original proposal by the office was that they would refund me after my insurance paid them, which could be approximately 3 months! When I demanded to speak with their office manager, she agreed that the $100.00 would be refunded to me as long as I showed up to my appointment. On the day of the appt, I arrived late, and was told that Dr. Santagelo could not see me because she had an urgent surgery to attend to. They tried to reschedule my appointment, yet I was only in town for two days. Since Dr. Santagelo could not see me, I requested for my deposit to be returned since I complied by showing up for my appointment. They made me wait to speak to the office manager, to then tell me that they did not intend to provide a refund. I insisted that they refund me the $100.00 because I was there for my appointment, so their response was that they would only refund $50.00 and would charge $50.00 because I was late. I have searched for their office policy and there is no mention that a patient will be charged for being late. As I left the office, I demanded for my money to be returned and to date (a week later) they have not provided a refund. Even though doctor Santagelo is and excellent doctor, the lack of professionalism, ethics, values, morals, and care for patients from the front office leaves much to be desired. Dr. Santengelo was huge in helping me. I had this reoccurring kidney infection that was dismissed and mistreated by hospitals, urgent care, and general doctors. After being referred to her and nearly developing sepsis she was the only person who was able to correctly culture the bacteria and treat my infection properly. After months of 105+ degree fevers and intense pain that was treated using hardcore painkiller I was finally able to resume normal life. Dr. Santengelo was huge in helping me. Sent in all my results requested for my first visit-dr didn’t have them to go over at my appointment, and had staff call me to schedule an ultrasound even though I had sent copies of one recently done with those files, let them know and resent files, they had me do another urine test & I happened to have a UTI, so they gave me antibiotics and said to follow up in 6 weeks... I said still need answers for pain not related, and they scheduled me for 3 weeks out, 3 hrs before appointment they call to reschedule again for week later, when I asked what the dr was going to go over, they said “an ultrasound,” but when I asked, they STILL didn’t even have it in my file. I would have went again to see her w/o her having any results except for an unrelated UTI. Almost 3 months of back and forth, for pain I’ve had a year now, with no new information. Staff tried to set an appointment for 2 days earlier but let me know I could find another Dr If I didn’t feel it was a good fit. Will do.
I have had a kidney stone as well as raised PSA levels. Dr. Santangelo is vey knowledgeable, patient and professional. Furthermore, she has gone the extra mile and contacted me after hours to ensure I was ok, and up to speed on next steps for treatments. One of the best doctors I have been fortunate to be in connection with.
Every time I go to her (annually) she has grossly overbooked. I heard 1 other person check-in for my exact time slot and 2 others checked in for times after me while I was still waiting. I’ve waited 30-45 minutes each time. She is great when I actually see her, but there’s definitely a feeling that the patient’s time is not as important as the physicians. I thought it might be a coincidence at first, but it’s an issue every time. I will be finding a new physician for the future.
Been treating for BPH with her for several years She is professional, thorough and gentle, Gentle! Concerned at first being treated by woman for this but quickly overcame at first meeting. Only issue is you need to book well in advance
Only giving her a one star because I have to in order to complete review. Friday, January 19, 2018 I went to ER due to kidney pain. They completed a CT scan that showed I had a kidney stone in my right side and to go see Dr. I already had a Dr since this stone has been sitting in my right kidney for 5 years. So called my Dr. Santangelo and got appointment that following Monday. She told me stone was still too high and if she would try to take out it would get thrown back into kidney. She wanted to wait it out, and made appointment for a month. Told me to pop some pain meds as needed, etc. So Month later went back, but day before I got a scan to bring back to her office to see if stone had moved. She felt the CT scan showed the stone at 9 mm, but other scan showed stone 6-7 mm which is passable. So told me to cont. and come back in another month. So keep paying my $45 co pay and wait it out. Had appointment in April that I cancelled and tried to reschedule for May but office gave me run around cause I cancelled my April appointment. Was sent to her nurse's Voice Mail and just keep getting run around. I wasn't in pain so wasn't forcing appointment since doctor never made it urgent. So July called back to get appointment and they couldn't get me in till Monday, September 10th. The Sunday night before my appointment my stone finally moved and I was in excruciating pain for 4 hours. My husband called Dr. Santangelos office after hours and she told me to take two pain meds, and Ibuprofen and come in Monday @ 8:30. Went to office and she told me "Oh wow why did you wait so long. You should have told my office it was urgent". So we set my procedure for that coming Thursday signed some paper work, and then her nurse comes in and says.... "Oh you have HMO and are not covered, everything would be out of pocket". How is it nine months later you noticed I'm not covered?? So I had to get a rush referral from my HMO to find a new Dr. It has been 2 weeks and I have had the stone and stent removed. Stone was a 9mm and should have been removed from the start in January. DO NOT SEE THIS DR SHE WILL MAKE YOU SUFFER. STAFF IS UN-KNOWLEDGEABLE!!! Only giving her a one star because I have to in order to complete review. Currently under treatment for kidney stone but I’ve been seeing Dr. S for years and I wish all my specialists were as good as she is! Concise, compassionate and friendly. Staff seems knowledgeable as well. Good experience all around!
Seemed rushed and impatient and didn't fully listen to me
Dr. Santangelo is always kind and compassionate. She takes the time to explain everything clearly. She looks at all the facts and listen closely to anything that I describe. I would recommend her to anybody who is experiencing urological challenges.

Dr. Santangelo is very kind and inspires confidence. She explains treatment options clearly and answers questions honestly and directly. She always remembers me and makes me feel comfortable discussing my health. I was a little hesitant about going to a female urologist, but I am very glad to have found Dr. Santangelo.
I've been a patient of Dr. Santangelo for years. I transferred to her from another urologist and her patient care is exponentially better than my previous doctor. She is very professional, excellent communicator and I have received excellent health care from her.

Dr. Santangelo is courteous, professional and provides excellent care. Most important to me, is that she will take the time to explain in detail procedures, her recommended care and causes of medical problems. She also remembers her patients and their past, even if it has been a year between appointments. She has helped me to overcome a couple issues to improve my day to day life.

Dr Santangelo really cares about her patients and goes out of her way to be there when emergencies occur. I can't imagine a better Urologist.
