His practice is all about the money. My 23 year old daughter was taken to the Overlake ER in mental health crisis by my sister-in-law while I was out of town. They both made sure Overlake was in-network with United Health before agreeing to be admitted. Dr. Norland spent at most 5 minutes with my daughter, asking questions she had already been asked and answered. He even told her he was going to ask her questions she had already answered and asked her permission to do so. What he didn't do was tell her he was going to charge $631 to ask her those questions. He didn't tell her he was not affiliatied with Overlake Hospital. He didn't ask about her insurance. She would not have agreed to even speak with him had she been informed about his fee and his out of network status with United Health. United Health paid him $210.47 for his 5 minutes, leaving my unemployed daughter with a $420.53 bill, even though she had already hit the maximum out of pocket limit with her insurance company. $210.47 is the full amount all legitimate doctors in network with United Health have agreed to accept as payment in full for their services in the ER. Both United Health and I attempted to get him to accept that as full payment, as other ER doctors do. His office refused. We are now preparing to sue him. Avoid this man. If you are in the ER, ask each person who comes in to treat you, even an x-ray technician, whether they are in network with your insurer. It's bizarre to me that even auto mechanics must give you a written estimate before repairing your car, while medical professionals can walk in and do anything they want without any fee disclosure and then put a knife in your back or ruin your credit for something you would never have agreed to with proper disclosure. Awful ER doctor. From the moment he enters, he acts annoyed and as if he’s running out of time. He doesn’t take the time to listen and just jumps to conclusions. He was a real pain to deal with. He isn’t polite at all and acts very arrogant.

Has no bedside manner, will talk over you and acts like he has no patience. I don’t understand why he became a doctor if he hates human interaction and doesn’t want to listen to people who need medical attention

He even told her he was going to ask her questions he knew she had already answered and asked her permission to do so. What he didn't do was tell her he was going to charge $631 to spend 5 minutes asking those questions. He didn't tell her he has no affiliation with Overlake Hospital. He didn't ask about her insurance. Therefore he didn't inform her he was out of network with United Health and would be charging 3 times as much as a doctor affiliated with Overlake or what an in-network doctor with United Health would charge. He therefore, in spite of already receiving $210.47 for his 5 minutes, considered payment in full by in-network doctors, is expecting my unemployed psychologically fragile daughter, who was already at maximum out of pocket on her insurance plan, to pay him an additional $420.53 or face a blemish on her credit report. I guess he really needs to upgrade his lifestyle, maybe buy a new boat or get a bigger house. We and United Health both tried to fix this through his office, but they want the full $631 or said they will go to collections. Auto mechanics are not allowed to fix your car without giving you a written estimate first. Unethical doctors provide whatever service they want to provide with any disclosure about price, and then really stick it to you after the fact. Dr. Norland's practice works that way. We are getting ready to sue him. Avoid. Avoid. Avoid.

Dr. Norland was excellent! Saw me right away and ordered an MRI for me. Discussed results with the neurosurgeon before discussing with me, so he was very informed. Great bedside manner and listened to my concerns. I left with minimal pain and an appointment with the neurosurgeon for two days later. This was after I'd been on a waiting list for several back doctors for over six weeks.

Dr. Norland was assigned to my care at Overlake Hospital ER yesterday. My rheumatologist was at a conference this week, so unavailable, and I was instructed to visit the ER. I have had a few very positive visits to Overlake's ER, however, my time with Dr. Norland was not this case. He was incredibly rude, interrupting me as I began to explain the circumstances of my visit. Without letting me tell him about my fall, he stated that he would write 2 prescriptions and I left in tears.
