Linda S Cowan

Dr Linda Cowan and her team are truly one of a kind. Having experienced being treated by an extremely insensitive male OBGYN, I found Dr Cowan as a miracle trying to find a fetal medicine specialist after my pre natal blood work came back positive for Down's Syndrome at 12 weeks. Dr Cowan and her genetic counselor, Selena, were incredibly knowledgeable and compassionate and empathetic to what we were going through as parents and helped us navigate a difficult journey after our diagnosis. We feel lucky to have found her and we recommend her highly to everyone looking for a warm OBGYN practice.

Dr. Cowan is a very knowledgeable doctor and goes above and beyond. She takes her time to explain things thoroughly to you. The genetic counselors are amazing and provide you with the best resources. Yes, the waiting period can vary but it is important to be flexible. I would recommend to take snacks, books, or something you enjoy, while you wait. The front desk, nurse who did my intake, ultrasound tech and genetic counselor were all lovely and professional. I wish for their sake I could rate this office higher, but the wait time was an hour and a half, and then another 30-45mins between intake, ultrasound, and speaking to the nutritionist each. Total 3 hours in office. I didn’t ask for or feel like I needed nutrition discussion, I have a phenomenal midwife who gives me kind and helpful advice all the time. I do not like sweets, junk food, soda, etc. The information the nutritionist delivered may have been good, but her delivery was horrendous. Ex: asking me if I eat fruit and then when I said a few times a week I blend fruit and water and she just says “stop” “don’t do that” with long pauses and admonishing looks. She told me my daily walks/general activity aren’t good enough and I need to be really exercising harder. Walks need to be power walks, twice a day, get back into spin classes, etc. Again, probably good advice on the days I’m feeling up to it, but no tact in her delivery, or compassion for how pregnancy and life can kick you in the pants some days. She also was wearing a crochet or lace material “mask” that was loosely woven and didn’t cover her nose, and had it off visibly when she called up another patient to be seen. I am pregnant and working full time during a pandemic, I have had horrible food aversions and I am doing my best everyday. She kept telling me my baby won’t live ????. I couldn’t get ultrasounds. She never wanted me to find out my gender. And she kept pressuring on getting the vaccine.

Horrible nutritionist. She did not introduce herself or told me what her title was. She was very condescending and actually told me baby would not make it if I were to get covid. I eat very healthy and yet she did not "approve" of my eating habits. The facilities are dirty, restrooms need a deep clean and door is too heavy to push for a pregnant woman with a high risk pregnancy. Extremely long wait times and when you finally see the doctor it is not in a private room instead it is in the open where everyone can hear your diagnosis. I thought patients had a right to privacy ???? They changed the dosage of blood pressure medication and two weeks later I developed pre-eclampsia. My baby was born at 34 weeks. I was unfortunately referred to this office by my Obgyn and it is the worst experience ever. First of all the ultrasound techs apply way too much pressure on my belly when they do the exam. It's very painful and uncomfortable makes me want to slap that thing out her hand. Next is that tacky so called "nutritionist"who looks like she need to have her own personal nutritionist. Telling me to exercise until my tongue is hanging out my mouth at 26 weeks pregnant mind you I am a slim girl and am all belly. When I told my obgyn some of the things they were saying , she looks at me confused and says everything looks normal to her so it seems to me like they just want me to come back every week with a nutrition journal having me eat like a damn rabbit just so they can get more money from my insurance smh. Not to mention the office and bathrooms are filthy, wait times are 2-3 hours minimum, parking is horrible, and the staff is super weird except for one nurse I can't remember her name. Today is definitely going to be my last appointment. I'm going to have my obgyn refer me to a different office with better quality care and better reviews. This was the worst experience for me. I was dreading coming here and was hopeful that my experience would be better than other reviews. First of all. There was a lack of communication. I was never called / told that I had an appointment and was given one randomly for an inconvenient day and time. If I hadn't called to try to make my own appointment, I wouldn't have known that. Parking is either on the street where you may get tickets or towed or $12 around the corner in a lot. Water bottles being $1 and the no whining signs are real. The desk assistants and techs are so sweet and professional. Even when they don't know something, they make sure to get an appropriate answer for you. I felt uncomfortable, however, speaking to the nutritionist because I was basically scolded for eating fruit and drinking ANY fruit juice and told to give juice from WIC away. I was told to eat more protein and fat and keep my diet low carb and to be honest, that just confirms that she did not look at my file because I have higher cholesterol levels. The nutritionist told me that I was going to cause my baby's kidneys to shut down and that I was going to kill him. That is not the way you're supposed to speak to someone who is pregnant. The lady after me was told that eating fruit and drinking juice was okay. I don't know if I was profiled to be diabetic because of my young age/higher weight but I am not diabetic and that is not the reason I was considered high-risk. Again, it just reaffirms that she did not look at my file. I was also told to exercise more and more rigorously. I was also never directly seen by the doctor. She just sat in her cubicle a few feet away from me and would relay messages through a clerk. Go figure. I was there almost four hours (10:30am-2:30pm) to get through my appointment. This place is sooooo unorganized. Save your self some time and go elsewhere. They take forever and they have no parking so you are stuck paying $12 of public parking on a near by lot.

There was no one there when I arrived and I got called after a 15-20 min wait but somehow I got out 3 hours later! I have never waited that long for an ultrasound in my previous pregnancies.

I’m not happy at all with this place yes is clean but staff is not professional.. I have history of pre-term labor and they wanted me to believe that is because of my weight. Counselor was good and informative but doctor was so unprofessional, didn't take the time to get off her desk to come see me, instead had her assistant go thru my personal medical file in the open with no room privacy. When I mentioned I had questions, she walked over to doctor only few feet away who never bothered to talk to me in person and came back with short answers. I arrived on time for my appointment and was seen right after check in. Staff was very friendly and accommodating. I spent a good amount of time being there to meet with a genetic counselor, to do ultrasound, amniocentesis testing, and meet with a nutritionist. They even gave me a flu shot during my visit. Based on reviews I almost didnt attend my first appointment I honestly walked in the office expecting the worst. To my surprise everyone there from beginning to end were very friendly and professional. Yes there is no parking but it is worth the struggle. Dr. Cowan is very knowledgeable she pays attention and addresses your concern. Although I was there for 3 hours it was all worth it yes! 3 hours, but not waiting hours it was the process between nutritionist, exams and ultrasound. Unprofessional! Waiting 4 weeks for blood work that was due back almost 2 weeks ago. No one is calling me back, they are leaving me on hold 20 minutes at a time. Very disrespectful. I had to put a lot of effort into keeping my patience with this place. First, it's filthy. The walls are dirty. There's duct tape on the exam tables. There were used Styrofoam cups in one of the exam rooms with lipstick and other people's germs all over them. A patient came in very sick, coughing all over the place and claiming that she received the flu shot there and that the doctor told her to come in if she got sick. I really hope it's not true that a doctor directed her to bring the flu germs into a waiting room full of pregnant women and children. I spent over 3.5 hours there for something that should have taken 30 minutes. There seemed to be a lot of confusion and disorganization.
