Mahaveer Vakharia

It's unfortunate that I have to leave this review, and this office. I was initially seeing Dr. Vakharia, but later started seeing John Gentry, NP. I really liked Mr. Gentry. Unfortunately, poor office staff and unprofessional behavior is becoming common place in GA Healthcare. I was recently charged a "letter fee" for essentially what equated to just a signature. This letter was for surgical clearance for an open workers comp claim (which I advised the staff multiple times of, because I had to call multiple times just to try to get the letter). Apparently they did not receive the workers comp info with the form faxed by the surgeon. Instead of asking or acquiring it, they charged me personally for the letter after it was already done. I was never told there would be a fee until the letter was ready to be sent. Essentially, exploiting me for payment if I wanted them to send the clearance letter (already completed) for a surgery I NEED. My workers comp adjuster advised me that the office can issue me a refund and I could provide them my claim number and her contact info and they could reprocess it through workers comp. When I called the office I was transferred three separate times and when I spoke with the head of the billing department (Kristy), I was encountered with the kind of attitude that you would only get from somebody on the other end of a phone. Mind you I've been a patient here for roughly two years and have never been late on a bill or missed a co-pay. The lady with billing essentially told me it's my problem and workers comp would have to reimburse me. When I told her I could stop payment on my end, she threatened to revoke the letter (that my surgeon already received). I don't know if that is even legal to revoke a letter saying there is no reason that I would be unable to have surgery. What are you revoking as billing staff? My mental health status?? This only paints a small portrait as to the unprofessionalism and unpleasantness of this "lady." Regardless, Healthcare is already expensive. There was literally nothing really to this letter. Being nickle and dimed by your doctor's office, especially one that deals in mental health is sickening. To an extent it wasn't so much the money as it was the morality and ethics surrounding the situation. Furthermore, these staff members shouldn't be able to talk to ANYONE the way she did. Unfortunately, offices like this lack accountability. I never once yelled or used obscenities. I've had okay experiences with the providers here, but unfortunately you tend to interact with office staff more. I'm treated here primarily for PTSD resulting from my service to my community. I don't deserve to be disrespected like this by anyone, especially someone that I am paying for a service. It's unfortunate, but hey, we live in a free market economy. I'll be finding myself a different provider. Poor business practice that I hope they change for themselves and future patients. "letter fee" > 2 yr. patient

I called today to make a new patient appointment. After asking me what medications I was on, I was told they were not taking any new “stimulant patients”. It was hard enough getting the courage to call a new provider after having to part ways with my previous provider due to moving out of the state… but to labeled as simply a stimulant patient was derogatory and mean. I’m not a drug seeker, I’m someone attempting to re-establish my medication routine after fearing to call looking for a new doctor for this very reason. I don’t usually write negative reviews, however I am very sad over what I was labeled.

Can confirm they do not answer phone, instantly move you to on hold, etc. Avoid like the plague.

Dr. Vakharia has helped me through some of the hardest times in my life. I truly feel like he cares about me & the struggles in my life. I'm currently in a situation & he is going out of his way to help me get it worked out. So grateful everything! My mental health is better than it's ever been

I recommend them nice friendly practice conveniently located in powder springs. I seen John gentry he was understanding and very noligable of my problems. It was easy to get in to see John..

Doctor Vakharia is absolutely wonderful! He listens, doesn't make me feel rushed, always asks if I have any questions and is all around everything you can hope for. The staff here is also extremely helpful and always kind. I adore them all. If you're looking for help, you'll find it here.

I am a patient of this office and I called early this morning for a refill on t medication I am supposed to take daily especially to help me at night with sleeping and the office hours say they close at noon on Friday's so I hit the option to speak with the on call and when the lady answered I explained my situation and she just said the office is closed on Fridays and they do not do any kind of RX refills after hours you got to call back next week.... REALLY! We as patients have daily medication to take to help regulate the symptoms we are experiencing and that is all you can say. This office is absolutely horrible! The staff is very rude especially when I have called to make my appointments and they automatically get put on hold and it takes forever for someone to get back on the line. Dr. John is the absolute sweetest but the office is very rude! If you really cant have the right attitude, patience or the heart more importantly working in the medical field then obviously this job is not for you. I never feel welcomed when I call I actually dread it but I have to make my appointments. Excellent doctor, listens to patient, and continually works to get medications correct so that the patient is high functioning!

Asked for all my information only to be told I would be put on a wait list of 125. I could have been told that first, very incompetent over the phone staff. There is no reason to waste someone’s time.

I called to make a new patient appointment and was told the Appointment Coordinator would promptly return my call. 5 days later I called the office back and was told we would be put on a wait list of over 100 people! When I asked why I wasn’t told this the first time I called, the woman who I spoke with argued with me and hung up! I understand that we may be looked down upon as my son has only Medicaid insurance at this time (his great Blue Cross insurance accidentally expired) but I thought doctors become doctors to help ALL people regardless of the type of insurance one has! I have been going to this office for many years now. I have seen many of there doctors. The only problem I have is that it is very hard to get in touch with the office. There is no after hours services to talk to a doctor.

Dr.Vakharia is an amazing psychiatrist/ therapist and former chief administrator at Ridegeview Institute. I was in distress and struggled to locate a top doctor. If you require mental health assistance, please make an appt. at this office. I see Dr Werner + Dr V., and they've created a superior support team in my life. I’ve been a PT here since 2009! Dr V, Dr Scott and John are very educated in what they specialize in!! They listen and they CARE about YOU! Mrs. Vakharia is awesome in running the office and attention to detail with Insurance Co. They’re all very personable people! I HIGHLY recommend this office for ALL your mental health needs!!! ❤️

Wonderful Office Staff and Dr Scott is amazing! They genuinely care. I have been a patient of Dr Scott's for almost 3 months now, and my quality of life has improved immensely. My son and I have been patients of Dr. Vahkaria for many years. When I came to Dr Vahkaria, my previous Dr. didn't have my diagnosis correct and Dr. Vahkaria's diagnosis and subsequent medication change was a blessing. When I realized my son also needed treatment I was confident that Dr Vahkaria would also help him. Mrs. Vahkaria and her office staff are always helpful, kind and professional. The physician assistants are all top notch.

I just called to make an appointment, because I was referred by my doctor. I have never been so upset. The receptionist was very rude, & questioning why I need to be on medication if I'm not going to school or college? I have been on the same meds since high school & can hardly function with my hectic life without them!

Office staff is beyond awful. They don’t turn the phones on in the morning when they open for hours frequently. They tell you to call back later to ask a simple question. His wife is the office manager and she is rude, mean and definitely has no place working with the public. Dr Vakharia and his team has been really helpful in the time of need. Moreover Mrs Vakharia teated me like family and helped in every way possible to schedule appointment, refilling my medication etc. I highly recommend this place for specialized psychiatric help.

I’m sorry about all the other reviewers having trouble with the front office staff. They aren’t rude, just really serious people...once you get to know them they’re great! Dr. Mahaveer's office has a very calming vibe. The office staff are friendly and helpful. I am seen for a Panic Disorder. I am proud to say that I have improved greatly. I am a patient of Dr. Charlesetta Scott. If you cannot see Dr. Mahaveer, Dr. Scott is amazing. I like how she listened to me and discussed my situation without minimising my feelings. I have been under the care of Dr. Mahaveer Vakharia since October 2014. I also see Mr. John Gentry as well. Dr. V (as I call him) and his staff are amazing! Every time I go to their office, I know I'm going to come out with a smile on my face. Dr. Vakharia is a kind, compassionate, and caring doctor. He has literally been my saving grace. I can't express my gratitude and appreciation enough to him and his staff. Mr. Gentry, whom I also see as well to treat my conditions is wonderful. He has helped me through so many hard times. The staff have always been so great with helping me with appointments and with my medicine even after hours just to make sure I’m okay. I've been going here for over 2 yrs now. Dr. Scott and Dr. Gentry are very easy to talk to. they are great with listening to your problems and coming up with a good game plan to move forward. Dr. Vakharia himself is great. His staff however, is beyond lacking. For the second time in 6 months, I have had an appointment and was forgotten about. Once in the office, before COVID-19, I waited over an hour and 1/2 before they found someone who could see me. Fast forward 3 months, to today. I never received an appointment reminder and I wasn't sure when my appointment was, so I called today and low and behold, it is today at 4:30. I had to ask if it was a virtual appointment and was told yes and to call back at 4:15 so they can check me in. I called at 4:12 and paid my money and no one called me back by 5PM. I called the office and yup you got it... CLOSED for the day. Complete and total BS. Find another practice that cares about their patients.

After dealing with some rather disappointing psychiatrists, I was referred to Dr. Vahkaria by my psychologist. Dr. V has been nothing short of a miracle worker. His careful observation to balance behaviors with medication is incredible. I fully believe that he is one of the best psychiatrists in the area. His knowledge is astounding. He uses that to treat his patients with care and dignity. Mental health is better for having him involved in the science. I will be forever indebted to him and his associates for helping me through my journey back to health. And when I had other family members needing assistance with their mental health challenges, there was no question as to where I sent them.

They are not taking new patients! They do not take blue cross blue shield, even though add says they do!! They told me not until the end of February to come in!? That is if the insurance company meets their standards! So for two months I would be in limbo!!! $$ again dollars get in the way of being healthy! They weren’t even going to call me back. ??

Dr. Vakharia has been my psychiatrist for over 15 years. It took me four years of going from one psychiatrist to another until I found him and it has made all the difference in the world. He is hardworking, knowledgeable, and very professional. He has seen me through a suicide attempt and years of depression with bi-polar disordewr. He really worked with me and after about two years we had a doctor/patient plan with the proper medications I needed and with generics when available to keep the cost to a minimum. He doesn't stop and is not satisfied until he feels he has the right medical and life skills to live a normal life with Bi-polar disorder. He's been with me through several hospitalizations and he stays current on all the medications and is not afraid to experiment to find the right medications and at the right amounts to deal with your disorder. His staff is professional and Mrs. Vakharia is always in the office to see that things progress smoothly. Make an appointment and see

I will be reporting office to medical board. The receptionist are rude and horrible. The lied about scheduling appointments. They will schedule make appointments for some people and not others. I'm in the medical field and I would never refer a patient to this office.

They will always say Dr. Vakharia is out of the country or not seeing outpatient patients in their office, because he’s at the in house facility at Ridgeview on South Cobb Drive. They will place you with a new doctor that you’ve never met or feel comfortable speaking with, which is my I will tell them No in a heartbeat. Dr.V is nice but I see his NP John Gentry who is wonderful! Some of the office staff is tricky to work with but for the most part they are very nice.

I have been seeing this Dr. for a long time. The service is not very friendly and they NEVER return phone calls. I still go because it's hard to find another Dr. who is taking new patients. I go just to have my medicine filled.

The MDs are amazing. The caucasian receptionist is rude. I signed in and sat there for an hour and she never acknowledged me, never spoke to me nor did she state that my MD will not be able to see me and I would see another provider. When I brought it to her attention, she rudely said I checked you in, oh you wanted me to acknowledge you. Then she proceeds to say after being rude that oh yea it will be a wait, you will see Dr. Scott today. Luckily I was told in advance during the previous appt that I would be waiting so the wait was not an issue. The professionalism exhibited by the receptionist left a bad taste in my mouth. Didn't even see the doctor. Spent an hour waiting, when they called me back and I asked why they said he had an emergency at the hospital and had only gotten back 20 minutes ago. 4 people in that front office and not a single one of them could have let me know that he was running that late? While Dr. Vakharia is very skilled and knowledgeable, his staff is terrible and completely incompetent. Never return calls, can't leave messages, and the average wait time is over 1 hour after scheduled appointment.

Dr. V is an awesome doctor, and I used to see Belinda. WAS SO DISAPPOINTED when she moved away! Mary is his PA now and I don't feel comfortable at all with her. She doesn't seem self confident and doesn't seem to know what to prescribe or to make good decisions on her own. Dr V really knows what he's talking about. I have been seeing Dr. Vakharia for about 6 years. The waiting time all depends on the type of day, which can be as soon as 10 minutes up to 25 minutes. Besides being very kind, Dr. Vakharia made me feel comfortable about opening up to him from the first day that I came to his office. Not only does he listen to my concerns but he answers all of my questions and assures me that no question I ask is silly. Before seeing Dr. Vakharia, I had seen a few psychiatrists around the area and was not given the same amount of time nor attention as Dr. V does for me. I had trouble with the combination of medication that my previous physician put me on, but Dr. V was able to find the right cocktail of medications to help me with my depression and inability to sleep at night. The office staff is very sweet, and will go out of their way to fill you in on any early appointments which were cancelled. In the end, I am happy with choosing Dr. V as my physician and would highly recommend him to anybody in the Atlanta area that is in need of a psychiatrist. 5/5 starts for Dr. Vakharia's office, but also his Nurse Practioner, Mary! Pays attention, trustworthy, and precise with her diagnosis and knowledgeable about the drug treatments for me. Just a few of the qualities of Mary. The best quality is she makes you feel as if you are her unique patient. For people going to the Psychiatrist for the first time, this is crucial. Waited an hour past appointment time, finally was called back, only to be told he had an emergency at the hospital and had gotten in 20 minutes before. Not a single person in the front office let me know he was running that late while I was sitting out there. I don't have the free time to make appointments that aren't going to be kept, I'll be finding a different doctor.

Would recommend coming to. Communication with the office staff helped me get an appointment when a cancellation occurred and a spot was available.

Being new to the area I was having a tough time finding a psychiatrist within my insurance company's network. I found Dr. Vakharia on the list, and gave the office a call. I explained my situation, and was told he was booked for the next week. If any cancellations would happen, they'd give me a call. I knew the likelihood of this was small. As I kept searching, to my surprise, the front desk girl called me two days later to inform me on a cancellation. Great communication and service.

So far no experience in am trying to make an appts and I was told well I think I can get you in not sure you need to call back on the 15th . This is the 8th. I've never been told we think we can......

I have been seeing Dr. V for the past two years for depression after my son passed away. After seeing many psychiatrists and psychologists in the area, I felt as if there was no hope. I couldn't be happier after first encountering Dr. V. I'm glad to see the new office with the smiling faces and friendly staff.

Great doctor! I usually see Belinda, clinical nurse specialist, who is in the same office. Both of them are great listeners and I believe they really care.
