1/ We told him that we were concerned about costs and asked that he allow us to approve any additional services beyond what would be covered by insurance. He didn't agree to this; instead made a joke. 2/ Then he conducted (or rather, billed us for) additional test/ services despite our request and without allowing us to consider the costs before moving forward with testing. Our bill was so big it took us months to pay off. (And the professional assessment we finally received was useless.) 3/ He pressured us to leave him alone behind closed doors -- unsupervised and unattended -- with our preschooler. When we calmly offered alternatives like waiting outside with the door cracked, he became angry and lashed out. His face got red, his jaw clenched, and he criticized me. Parents: anyone who gets angry at you for not letting them be alone behind closed doors with your child is a HUGE! RED! FLAG! ^ Caplan deserves a zero but that's not an option here. TLDR: protect yr family; RUN.
