I had the most terrible experience with this doctor. Don't give him your money! This doctor was rude and demeaning throughout the session, tried to make a ridiculous diagnosis, which I shot down, and after that, he got incredibly defensive and even nastier. By the end of the appointment, I had to resist crying I was so annoyed and frustrated with him. It was a waste of time and money to go to this guy, go to any other ENT you can find before you see Dr. Fox! I had had a cold several weeks ago that I eventually seemed to get over, but not before my right tonsil and side of my throat developed a sharp shooting pain and my right ear felt like it was going to explode from the pressure, a sensation which increased over the week up until I saw Dr. Fox. I also had several tonsil stones that week, which I've never had before in my life. Dr. Fox examined me for a while, with an awful bedside manner, like when he touched my right tonsil and I was groaning because it hurt so much, he pulled out and asked me, "God, why are you making that noise?" I told him because it hurts terribly! At one point he noted that my TMJ was tight and thought that that was what was causing my pain. I told him outright that I had been told I had a tight TMJ my whole life, and that I very much doubted it was causing the acute onset of pain I was having. He replied in an irritated tone, "I can only tell you what I see" and got much nastier with me for the rest of session. He also used a scope snaked up through my nose to look at the back of my throat and said he couldn't see anything (he also charged over $300 for this procedure, which I found out from a bill in the mail a month later, and I was told by another ENT it was an inappropriate procedure to use in my case when he should have examined me by hand). He wrapped up by saying there was nothing he could do for me, he couldn't see anything wrong, and take some tylenol. I almost cried I was so disheartened and frustrated by him. I am still in horrible pain and will seek a second opinion if it doesn't go away in several days. Update: I wrote this review almost two years ago, but I never said what happened after Dr.Fox. I woke up with a lot of blood in my mouth the next day, and made an appointment with a different ENT. He listened to my symptoms, and used some gauze to pull my tongue to the side to look down my throat, and immediately saw that had an enormous tonsil stone, and a large bleeding ulcer next to it, presumably caused by the stone rubbing against my throat. It turned out the stone was also impinging the nerve that runs to my ear, which is why the ear felt so full and painful even there was nothing wrong with it. I was given an anti-viral for the ulcer and told to gargle until the stone came out. Within a day I was so much better. All because this ENT actually took the time to look where I told him the pain was coming from. I wish I could remember this ENT's name so I could recommend him. Oh and Dr.Fox ended up billing me over $300 for a procedure to look down the back of my throat with a camera scope snaked up through my nose (painful and unpleasant), and he still never found the ulcer I had. He's lucky I didn't report him to insurance for fraudulent medical charges since that kind of procedure is completely inappropriate since he could have looked down my throat more carefully by hand. He clearly was trying to pad his wallet. I hope he is retired by now so no one has to deal with him anymore. I had the most terrible experience with this doctor. Don't give him your money! Great ENT!
Saw Dr Fox on a Saturday after 3 weeks of severe coughing. He figured out the issue after unnecessary suffering as the prior Dr missed the diagnosis. I've been commuting for 3 hours a day with bronchitis and adult croup exposing fellow commuters and coworkers. This is the 2nd time Dr Fox gets it right. 1st time was over 20 years ago when I was in Lawrence for over a week. Dr Fox was called in, next day I was cured and on my way home.
