Dr. Kleive is a fine dentist indeed. He keeps my teeth clean and in the correct places. He once even spackled a chipped tooth of mine, caused by an ornery mussel shell. You’ll find no finer dentist, I’m quite confident.

I had a painful tooth problem that developed over 24 hours. I called when they opened and was able to quickly be seen. From the time you enter till the time you leave Dr Mark and all his staff show care an a desire to make your visit a great one. I became a patient of Dr. Mark Kleive over 10 years ago. Up until that time, dental cleanings had been painful and uncomfortable accompanied with bleeding of my gums. I dreaded going to the dentist for dental cleanings. Other dental work was also not pleasant. Every dental experience that I have had at Dr. Mark Kleive's office has been extremely pleasant and pain free!! I now look forward to dental cleanings and even dental work!! I have had crowns put in along with other dental procedures and not one time have I experienced pain or been uncomfortable. The staff are kind, encouraging, and listen to me with attentiveness! They were more than patient with my elderly mom who had the beginning stages of Dementia. Kleive had been my dentist a few years back and in between, I had seen a different dentist. I recently had a tooth break and needed an appointment to know my treatment options where I went to Dr. Kleive. My family had been to him as well as myself which made me feel that I was in good hands. Everyone was so polite when I entered and went back to the room. The assistant ask standard questions, took xrays and proceeded to get the Dr. From there, Dr. Kleive walked in, looked at the X-ray, asked me one question, turned to the assistant and asked her to write a referral for a root canal and he walked out. I was extremely shocked considering he never sat down, never looked into my mouth, and never took any further steps to ensure this was the only option. I went to a specialist regarding a possible implant since I’m hesitant about root canals. The specialist asked many questions, did many tests on my gums, teeth, and checked the broken tooth for sensitivity. She determined that my tooth was healthy, viable and still able to be saved. Kleive would have known this if he had done the proper thing and given me an exam...WHICH I PAID FOR. Turns out I only need a filling and the root is perfectly fine. This could have cost me $4,000 but instead, my gut told me to get a second opinion - the filling will be less than $400. BIG DIFFERENCE. Their office is good with standard cleanings etc., but I highly suggest going somewhere else for your dental needs. I am going to assume, since you are reading dentist reviews, that you, like me, are skeptical of a good dentist experience. Turns out, it is possible! The highlights: -Dr. Klieve and his team have positive attitudes and are focused on problem solving -They educate you about treatments and give options -They use the best equipment and materials available. -They are up front about the costs and fairly priced -They respect you and your time, any staff in the room is focused on your treatment, and they leave time to answer your questions. -You can say goodbye to the classic atmosphere of shame or judgement -Cleanings are through and pain free! -They consider your mouth as a whole, not just one tooth at a time. -They want your involvement, because they recognize that you will make the best decision for your circumstances. My story: My mouth was in the worst shape of my life. I had 3 broken teeth, failing fillings, pain, and paralyzing shame about what I had ‘allowed’ to happen to my teeth. I know I have weak enamel, am prone to decay and that I clench my teeth so, I brush, floss, water pick, use mouthwash, mouth guards, etc. But try as I might, I can’t seem to stop teeth from breaking and decay. In the past, dental professionals have made me feel like the problems were all my fault and that if I just took better care of my teeth, nothing would ever go wrong. We all know that is baloney, but it is hard to stay positive when a professional, who is scraping away at your teeth says these things. With all this damage, I needed someone to look at my mouth as a whole and help me improve my overall oral health. After lots of research and recommendations, I choose Dr. Kleive for his website video reviews and his knowledge of full mouth restoration. Just hours after I emailed, both Dr. Klieve and Anne had contacted me. They were not intimidated by the challenges or pushy for the ‘sale’ so, I made a consult appointment. That appointment wasn’t like any other. They wanted to know about my dental goals and I felt comfortable to talk openly because they listened without judgement. They explained each step as they took photos and x-rays, created a comprehensive record of my previous dental work and current troubles, checked my bite, checked my jaw, looked at my gum health. Yet., even as some fears were confirmed; they also found positive things about my oral health to sincerely celebrate with me. Oddly I left the dentist, hopeful. The team reviewed all the info and created a phase one plan and estimate for me. I set up a cleaning to go with the consult review. I figured it would tell me a lot about how they treat patients during procedures. The next week, I had my first through and painless cleaning, even with 3 broken teeth! Megan was easy to talk to, explained each step, checked in with me and then got to work; no awkward, open mouth conversation required. The consult followup was just as good. Anne, reviewed the images, talked me through what were the hot ticket items and told me what each would cost. She listened to questions and provided information. I left with a clear packet of information detailing the phase one plan and a clear understanding of what might be unpredictable. It wasn’t sugar coated, instead it was kind and honest, just what I wanted. I decided to start with one of the crowns/root canals. Having a temporary crown to prep for a root canal isn’t fun, but I can honestly say it was a positive experience. I was properly numbed. Instead of taking gag worthy impressions of my teeth, they used the CEREC machine to create a 3-D model of my teeth, and milled the porcelain crown on site. My bite which had been deteriorating with each additional restoration, felt odd at first, but now it feels like it is improved. From what I can tell, all the work was done with a high level of expertise. I lots more work to schedule, but so far, so good! I’m impressed by this dental team and I am now hopeful about my dental future. Dentists' offices are places where people study teeth and torture others. That is not what you'll find at Dr. Kleive's office. Thankfully, he goes by Dr. Mark (because how do you say Kleive?), but anyway, this is a fun place to go! Dr. Mark has excellent people at the front desk, incredible assistants across the board, and he's a solid guy. I've never been to a dentist's office that was so full of laughter. Often there is music, too, and Dr. Mark has a strong preference for the smooth hits of the late 1980s. Recently, though, I arrived, and there was no music. What to do? I started playing some of my favorite songs through my phone, and we all took turns laughing or making jokes. Also, they cleaned my teeth and performed some ex-rays. Dr. Kleive and his staff are a joy to work with! He and Tara went out of their way to facilitate on-going orthodontic treatment when I moved out of state. They made the Invisalign process efficient, affordable, and convenient--I would absolutely recommend this practice!!

I've always been nervous when approaching dentist offices because of potential steep costs, rough treatment, or the scolding that comes with it. You won't find any of those downsides here. The staff is very friendly and accommodating, and they did a fantastic job on my cleaning without really causing much discomfort! Additionally, they were very up-front about costs from the beginning, so I didn't have to face that dreaded sticker shock for necessary dental work. When I moved to far western North Carolina I needed a new dentist, but had put off any appointment. The issue was forced on me when I broke a tooth. I decided to look outside of Asheville because it seemed to me that doctors, in general, in Asheville were really busy, and their attention span was momentary. I found Dr. Mark Kleive in Black Mountain, went to his office, and he fixed the tooth in minutes. This, I discovered, is a very professional dental office, and also a delightful one. I am a retired dentist so I view dentistry as an educated critic. Full disclosure: Dr. Kleive took over my practice eight years earlier and we have been friends and I know his team well. After my retirement I developed a condition known as root resorption affecting ten front teeth. So far as we know this is not a preventable condition and it required serious consideration as front teeth would be breaking off at some time. Dr. Kleive did a thorough exam and proposed a very extensive treatment. We discussed options and I came to understand that there really were no acceptable partial solutions. It is a credit to modern dentistry and to Dr. K that any treatment is available. A side benefit of the treatment is that I could expect a nice improvement in appearance of my teeth. I contacted a prosthodontist (tooth replacement specialist) to double-check and he agreed with our general plan. Dr Kleive consulted with a periodontist (gum specialist) to do the necessary surgery and tweak the plan. It involved extracting all the affected teeth, some gum surgery and eight implants. Modern technology allows the doctors to plan the exact placement of the implants and achieve exactly what is planned. I am nearing the completion of nearly eighteen months of treatment. I have had nearly no pain. I have had an improving appearance throughout. Only on the days of significant treatment have I had any limited function. Yes, I've had soreness for a few days and I've had a numb mouth for many hours totaled and I've had soft food only for a few days. This very complex treatment has gone almost exactly according to plan and the end result will clearly be what I want and need. I give both Dr. Kleive and my periodontist, Dr. Jody Harrison and their teams five stars. I am a retired dentist so I view dentistry as an educated critic. Every visit I have made to Dr. Kleive’s office has been excellent. The office operates in an efficient and timely manner and I have never had to wait past my appointment time. Having neglected my teeth for years I came to Dr. Kleive's office at the urging of a good friend. My past dental experiences were less than pleasant so I was quite wary. My only regret is that I didn't go to Dr. Kleive sooner. He and his wonderful staff quickly assessed the condition of my teeth and offered solutions with no judgement or pressure. Despite the poor condition of my teeth his work caused as little pain as any dentist I had seen before and my mouth is now healthy. His staff is the most positive and professional group of ladies I have ever encountered. The atmosphere of his office makes you wish that you could work there. I have been a patient of Dr. Kleive for many years. I have always been very happy with Dr. Kleive and his staff. This morning he completed a procedure on my mouth to replace a lost tooth with an implant. As always, Dr. Kleive and his staff were professional, gracious and fun. New technology is constantly being introduced so the latest dental practices can be used. During the current Covid-19 era new procedures have been implemented in order to make the dental office safer for patients and staff. I am more confident and pleased with Dr. Kleive and his staff than I have been with an other dentist.

State of the art facilities. I find I get the best of care with Dr. Kleive and his staff and they all are friendly and caring. I would recommend him to anyone seeking great dental care.

Very outgoing and friendly, awesome from the minute I walked in. Everyone was super friendly and excited to see me. The whole office was on tune and happy at their job. Definitely returning here and recommending to friends.
