Stay clear!! Total waste of time and money. My daughter has been sick and struggling for months. Came to him in hopes for answers. I even had all blood work & radiology testing done prior to seeing him, thinking that would help.First problem is that it is a small office but they keep the doors open to all the rooms & waiting room! We literally heard the entire story from the patient he was seeing before us. He did the same to us when we were in there (luckily no one was in waiting room listening to my daughter's issues). He kept walking in/out of room so he can go type on his computer in his office across the hallway!!! He then started asking us questions from the other room across!! Worst part is that he doesnt listen to you & asked her the same question 4xs!!Complete HIPAA violation & Totally not sympathetic to her problem. I was in shock. totally disrespectful to treat patients like that. Absolutely felt like we were just another # on his list. Sent her for stool test & said he wanted to see her in 1 month. No explanations or indications of what might be wrong.I had to ask him what he thought it was. He said "people come to me with these symptoms all the time" . Seriously. Never return!

I brought my 3 month old to Dr Lowenheim for poor weight gain. he basically said it was normal and blamed it on the inflated weight at birth due to my gestational diabetes. He didn’t change his diet nothing he prescribed a medication that made my babies reflux worse. fastest initial visit ever!!!!!. I went to another doctor for a second opinion and he diagnosed my baby as failure to thrive (he was the 2nd percentile)and gave me a plan and diet change. fast forward to my baby in the 75th percentile and has since gained 8lbs. trust your gut and goto a doctor that gives you the time of day not excuses

Dr. Lowenheim is an extremely professional and knowledgeable gastroenterologist. I highly recommend. He has helped tremendously through the years and always checks everything necessary before he recommends a treatment. He's a great doctor!

Rude, curt, unprofessional. Very arrogant and not helpful. Questions are bothersome to him. Asked about what to expect with my child’s first endoscopy. His answer, “Haven’t you ever had one?” When I said no, he told me to Google it. Insisted in repeat endoscopy and a colonoscopy even though our other doctors told us they were not necessary and advised against them. When I called to question and ask for clarification, he had the secretary at the front desk provide the medical advice. Left practice and found an excellent ped GI that was able to correctly diagnose in one visit without invasive testing. Bring your child elsewhere.

Dr. Lowenheim quite literally saved my life at 14 when all other doctors had given up on trying to figure out a medical cause for what turned out to be crohn’s disease. Throughout my tenure with him, he was the only doctor that ever eased my fears, convinced me that I would lead not only a normal, but an extraordinary life that would only be inconvenienced by my disease. There was no time or day when he couldn’t be reached. When 6 years later he had to inform me that I also had a complication called PSC, a chronic liver disorder that scared me witless, it was Dr. Lowenheim who soothes the fears that I was in danger. Throughout my time with him and since, I have never known a more compassionate, caring, and accessible doctor who is forever calming. No matter what’s happening you know you’re safe when he’s there. Even when I aged out of pediatric care, it was him who called to assure me that while he couldn’t be my doctor he still wanted to know how I was doing, and always welcomes my calls to tell him of my life, my family, always beginning with, “so how are you?” When my nephew, at barely a year needed to see a GI, there wasn’t no question who he’d go to, and once again fears were calmed. I’ll never forget that hospitalization which brought our worlds together, and be glad he was the one who sat in on rounds that day. During my two week stay to stabilize me once the dx came through he had to be away one weekend, a family wedding, but the nurses told me how he’d call every few hours to make sure I was okay, he worried even during a family celebration because that’s what you become when you become his patient. Dr. Lowenheim is very arrogant. He misdiagnosed my child, and after repeated phone calls and questions, he continued to be rude, curt, and only kept suggesting a repeat endoscopy and colonoscopy, even though my child’s other doctors advised strongly against it. He acts as if he is always in a rush and your questions are bothersome to him. Finally left his practice, followed up with a different Ped GI, and in onlyone visit got all the answers we needed and, more importantly, a correct diagnosis.

I have been a patient of Dr. Lowenheim since June of 2016 and I am very satisfied with his care and the way his office operates. Prior to becoming a patient at Dr. Lowenheim's office, I dealt with debilitating gastroenterological symptoms that left me moderately to severely underweight, unhealthy, and exhausted for almost half of my life. For a number of years, my low body weight and complaints of pain and discomfort at doctor's offices were dismissed due to my age, race, and gender as picky eating, acid reflux, or anorexia. I was frequently misdiagnosed for issues secondary to my gastroparesis, and medicated for illnesses I did not have. At another local gastroenterological practice I was told that the doctor could not assess why I was failing to gain weight until I gained weight (??). My symptoms continued to go untreated and worsen until I had to medically withdraw from college, weighing 82 pounds, in early 2016. As soon as I visited Dr. Lowenheim's office in June of 2016, I felt that my symptoms were genuinely being listened to and taken into account. Dr. Lowenheim scheduled an endoscopy for the next day and made me feel comfortable enough to go through with the procedure, which I would not otherwise have done. He performed my endoscopy in Ambulatory Surgery at St. Charles Hospital the next morning and diagnosed me with gastroparesis, which was later confirmed with a gastric emptying study. We worked through a trial and error period of different treatments and medications for symptom management until we found one that worked for me. In the instances when I had acute symptoms, it was not difficult to make an appointment with his office. During office hours, that is, because Dr. Lowenheim is not an ER physician and is under no expectation to answer calls in the early hours of the morning. Take heed, reviewer before me. Not answering calls in the middle of the night does not warrant a one-star review on a public platform, and if you would not expect that extremely preferential treatment from a PCP, you should not expect it from a gastroenterologist. I digress. I have Dr. Lowenheim to thank for a swift diagnosis and the prescription of a treatment that has allowed me to gain almost 15 pounds, as well as to regain some control over my eating. Most importantly, I have been able to gain a lot of control over my own life. I am returning to college in a few weeks after two years of being at home. I am eating better, sleeping better, feeling better, and everything that comes along with those things. I was appalled to see that his only Google review was one star, as I would never want someone to look up his office and feel discouraged from seeing him. My only complaint is that he is a pediatric gastroenterologist and I will age out of his office soon. I have been a patient of Dr. Lowenheim since June of 2016 and I am very satisfied with his care and the way his office operates. My family and an I are extremely displeased with Dr.Lowenheim's treatment and attitude towards my daughter and myself while we were in his care. When we entrusted Dr.Lowenheim with the care of my 14 year old daughter for her recently diagnosed ulcerative colitis we were assured by Dr.Lowenheim himself that he was incredibly accessible 24-7 and that he was here for us any time in case of an emergency. We were very excited to begin working with Dr.Lowenheim as we thought that we had finally found a doctor who would really be there for us if we need him. Not only were we incredibly disappointed in his accessibility, we were shocked and appalled at his unprofessional conduct. Recently my daughter, who was on her way to recovering from an incredibly painful flair-up of her colitus, was suddenly stricken with extreme abdominal pain like nothing she had ever felt before, totally out of the blue. With my daughter In tears from the pain I drove her to the emergency room at 11:45 at night. With my daughter vomiting from pain, I called Dr.Lowenheim's service hopping to get in contact with him, to no avail. His answering service was more helpful than he was as I began calling Lowenheim 45 minutes prior to our emergency room trip, unsure of what he wanted me to do, it was his secretary who finally told me to take my daughter to the emergency room. I was still unable to reach him at 1:15 in the morning. After finally getting in contact with him through his service, Dr.Lowenheim was curt and unprofessional over the phone. When I told Dr.Lowenheim I had been trying to get in contact with him his response was a rude " Well now you've got me." Once we were discharged from the hospital later that morning, I was under the impression that Dr.Lowenheim would give us a call about my daughters treatment and how she was feeling. I didn't hear from him at all. At my daughters next checkup with Dr.Lowenheim I wanted to address the night in the emergency room with him, as I was frustrated that he assured me he was reachable at any time. I reassured Dr.Lowenheim that the reason we were in his care was that we were assured that he was trustworthy and highly recommended. I was totally blindsided by what transpired next. In front of my daughter Dr.Lowenheim flew into a frenzy and launched a verbal attack at me. He informed me that he wanted a formal apology for waking him up that night in the emergency room even thought he had told us he would be there for us any time. Dr.Lowenheim even went on to say that the reason he hadn't called us in weeks was that he was angry with me. I am so absolutely shocked by his unprofessional behavior as Dr.Lowenheim continued to say that it was not his job to oversee anything that happened in the emergency room and that hes not responsible for my daughters treatment in the ER, even though we were instructed by Dr.Lowenheim himself to go to this specific ER because he is affiliated with it. Not to mention that we had never been to this hospital before and had no idea what to do when we got there. I have never, ever witnessed a doctor as absolutely unprofessional and rude as doctor Lowenheim. I am currently in search of a new doctor for my daughter as I cannot imagine leaving my daughter in his care for another second. Please save yourself the trouble and do not bother to contact Dr.Lowenheim if you are looking for compassionate and reliable care, because he certainly does not provide it.
