Be very careful with this periodontist. There isn't much conversation on what services he provides or doesn't. I visited him for over a year understanding that in the long run, I was needing extractions. During the procedure, all I requested was to be under anesthesia. I mentioned this at every appointment only to find out that during the procedure, he doesn't have the credentials to administer anesthesia, only gas. I literally walked out. Beyond grateful with my visit. It’s been a LONG minute since I’ve seen care due to my “programs” but Dr. Mark Mangelson and staff were so AWESOME to make sure I was comfortable through the whole process. I’m extremely excited for my next visit and I can’t wait for the next step. HUGE thank you to this team of GREATNESS. Thank you so much for I’m gaining so much confidence back. Dr Mangels helped me completely recover from periodontal disease after two previous providers did not give me the correct care. I am so grateful that I found Dr. Mangels! His office staff are always friendly and very efficient. I have never waited more than a few minutes. Would highly recommend!

I went to the office to get evaluated for an implant and bone graft. They told me they'd call me with the results of my CT scan. I called back every week trying to find out the results, but no one could ever give me the results and I never heard anything back from them. What a waste of $150.

Beware of insurance NOT covering all of implant cost We have an upgraded Delta Dental policy, and I was dismayed to find out how little of the implant process was actually covered. You think you are OK with having insurance that supposedly covers an implant, but the out-of-pocket costs are crazy. There is no protection when Delta Dental says that part of the procedure isn't covered, allowing Dr. Mangels to pass on 100% of the full, non-discounted price on to be paid. By then, you are in the middle of the procedure process and stuck. I asked this provided for a "pre-D" or predetermination from the insurer, only to find out later from Delta Dental that nothing was included by Dr. Mangel's office on the "pre-D" for bone grafting. Delta covers NOTHING for bone grafting, and Dr. Mangels uses a tiny piece of mesh on top of the bone material that he passes through 100% of the supposed cost of $500 (for a 1/4" piece of mesh.) I had to have bone grafting TWICE. Even the implant "reveal" visit is not covered by Delta, so Dr. Mangels once again passes through 100% of the non-discounted price for that visit. Beware! This will be much more expensive than you ever thought. And you won't get a straight answer ahead of time as to actual costs. I visited Dr. Mangels' office from 2016-2017 for some work on my lower gum. After the initial consultation, the procedure was performed at a later date. The procedure was not a complete success and required follow up visits to assess. At one point I was given brief detail of what needed to be done to correct my gum issue (a "windshield wiper" to bring the gum separation together), but wanted to give some time to see how it healed. In the meantime it was recommended to be scheduled for regular cleanings with this office, in addition to those at my regular dentist, so the healing could be monitored. I scheduled 1 cleaning around 6 months after the visit to assess following the procedure. At this time the doctor analyzed my gum and determined nothing further needed to be done, which was contrary to the previous assessment and questionable since the condition of my gum hadn't changed. In addition, it was recommended I have quarterly cleanings (4 per year) done. It became apparent nothing further was going to be done to fully correct the issue with my gum and emphasis was more on the residual business of having me come in for cleanings. I agreed to an additional cleaning appointment after the 1st (and only) done at the office. Prior to the appointment I had a regular cleaning scheduled at my regular dentist and opted to break the appointment with Mangels' office. I left the conversation with the scheduler I would have to follow up at later time if I chose to schedule another cleaning with their office. At this point I had no intent of coming in for cleanings there, when I can have the same thing done at my regular dentist. About 11 months goes by and I surprisingly get a bill in the mail for $50 and the description is "balance forward." I call the office and was told by woman this was for a missed appointment fee. The charge seemed questionable and woman explained I skipped my last cleaning appointment and it wasn't cancelled more than 24 hours in advance. If you've visited Mangels' office you know their schedulers call you on a near-daily basis starting 1-1.5 weeks before your actual appointment to confirm. I'm almost certain me not attending the appointment was communicated prior, but the woman insists she has notes from the day of the appointment saying otherwise. She was even nice enough to send me my billing history and agreement I signed which includes verbiage they "reserve the right to charge a $50 missed appointment fee." Further I was told the reason the bill wasn't sent until nearly a year later was they fired the woman who did their billing because she wasn't doing her job. As of now my gum isn't fully repaired (likely have to see another dentist) and I'm debating whether I'm going to pay the $50 fee being assessed. Overall, the experience was less than desirable and the fee being charged is the icing on the cake for me never returning to this office for dental work.
