About Mark W Preslan
Reviews for Mark W Preslan
Worst service rude doctor and staff absolutely rubbish.
Nervous about my 6yr old having Strabismus eye surgery due to her eyes turning in. Tried many things for a year and didn't work. In fact got worse to where other eye was turning in as well. Risk of blindness. Very skeptical already being she just 6 and it's the eyes, but after some of the reviews got me more worried. But after reading them it seemed he was really good, but just not a "kids" guy. I was fine with that as long as all goes well. Turns out he was just the opposite of all that. Dr. Preslan and his staff were fantastic to deal with. He was good with her. Even the day of surgery with just his great attitude and yet professionalism. My daughter was less afraid than any of us. She was a champ and inspiration. She told us "Jesus is with me". Dr. Preslan was great and so far so good and aligning with everything he told us before, during, and after. Hope all continues to so don't need glasses anymore. Also the 5th floor of Mercy hospital for the surgery where the nicest collection of staff I've ever been around in a hospital. As parents we were a wreck, but my daughter didn't bat an eye because she knew without a doubt where her help comes from. God led us to these people. I thank God and every one of those involved with this surgery. Especially Dr. Preslan.
I waited 3 hrs just for regular check up, staff was not so friendly , will never come back again to see him. After taking my son in room he came after hour and then waited another hour after dilation. Staff not answering properly. Would not recommend to anyone
0 Stars. My daughter (3 at the time) is severely light sensitive. We went to Dr. Preslan because he was so highly recommended. At our first appointment everything was GREAT. He took the time to care for my daughter and found out she has trichiasis and the reason she is so light sensitive is because her cornea was scratched up from her lashes. He plucked out the lashes and we had a follow up a few weeks after. At that appointment, she was a little less cooperative because she was afraid of getting drops again or getting her lashes plucked again. He made sure to comment SEVERAL times about how she wasn't being a good patient. It got under my skin but still, she was being taken care of. He couldn't see the lashes growing back so we scheduled again for 6 months out. March 4 was our most recent AND LAST appointment ever with him. Our appointment time was 9 am. We were called back at 8:57, He came in at 9:00 on the dot. He looked at her eyes through the slit lamp for all of maybe 10 seconds. He didn't ONCE touch her eyelid to move it so he could actually see the lashes or entire cornea and declared she was fine and was being dramatic about the sunlight, that everything looks great. I then asked about her vision because she often tilts her head to the side and looks at things VERY closely. He shrugged his shoulders and said "I'm not concerned about that, see you in a year!" and WALKED OUT. (that was 9:06 to put how short our appointment was into perspective). Angry, I scheduled an appointment with another ophthalmologist who I'd give TEN stars to if I could. They took the time to look at EVERYTHING. Her muscles, vision, health, full exam. She DID in fact have eyelashes scratching against her cornea again, and they removed those. Then we found out she has slight crossing and a slight prescription and needs glasses for daily wear to help correct those things. If I accepted Dr. Preslan blowing us off, my daughter's conditions could have gotten MUCH worse. Terrible, terrible doctor with TERRIBLE bedside manner. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME.... your kiddos are worth SO much more!! 0 Stars. My daughter (3 at the time) is severely light sensitive. We went to Dr. Preslan because he was so highly recommended. I wish I could give him zero stars. Dr. Mark Preslan is a despicable human being. He refused to see my 5 year old nephew who is nonverbal and living with autism. He would not do an eye exam for him, even though he wrote his original Rx for the glasses he has now. He has trouble seeing even with his glasses and he refused him care. He made comments about my nephews behavior- he gets anxious at the dr like MOST children. How is the world can you call yourself a dr a refuse care to a small child with special needs?! We will be removing him from our referral list. HE DISCRIMINATED AGAINST MY NEPHEW HE IS AN ABELIST AND A PIG! I wish I could give him zero stars. Dr. Mark Preslan is a despicable human being. The service is good. But they don't care why you are late. We have being late maybe 2-3 (but I always called to let them know I was late). I have to work then take my kid to her appointment. From work I go home to pick up my girl then go to her appointment. The lady told me because it was not the first time. So they canceled the appointment. I lost the rest my day of work. She didn't have a good attitude. If I can find another place for my girl. I won't come back to this place. The service is good. But they don't care why you are late. The negative comments about this man I cannot believe .I took my daughter to him for help an all he has done has helped her. beyond what he has been paid for !!! above an beyond he an the staff has went for her . he is a good man an a good doctor.
Dr. Preslan is wonderful and has been seeing our 3-year-old son for almost 2 years now. Our son loves him, anytime we are going to any doctor (pediatrician, dentist, etc) he asks "Can we go see Dr. Preslan instead?" Lol He also just did my son's strabismus surgery and it went great. Highly recommend him!
I was skeptical at 1st because of the comments about him being mean to kids but decided to try because of the positives on his work. I figured an attitude can be changed/adjusted. Best decision ! Dr Preslan was actually my 2nd opinion. The first dr we saw literally told me nothing was wrong with my daughters eyes , even after showing video footage. Like seriously ? But from day 1 Dr Preslan was cool and before I even brought it up he told me I was not seeing things.(By this time I had more videos, lol) Long story short my daughter got her eye surgery today , it went well and I would definitely recommend him ! ! He did her surgery this morning and it went so smooth and he walked us through every step of the way even went out of his way and called us that night to check up on her ! I understand that coronavirus is an issue. I have been traveling 1 hour and 40 minutes to make sure my son is being taken care of. My daughter is 6 and he turned us away because she was with us. I told them I have been fully vaccinated, traveled a long distance and as a single mother-didnt have anyone who could watch my daughter. They still turned us away with no empathy and with a very bad attitude. They offered for him to come and talk to me and I said how is that any different than my daughter to come into a 5 minute appt with us? I even offered to have her sit in the waiting room so he didn't have to come into contact with her (even though her germs are on me too as her mother)... They told me I was giving them a hard time because I asked for his medical records and am willing to pay, but they said he has to review the records and I simply asked why if I just want a copy of all of it. Note- my daughter has been to their office MULTIPLE times. If you're a single parent, don't bother
Won’t be back. If you are rude to my kid, you won’t get my business.
He IS rude to the children , until I read these reviews I thought we were the only ones subjected to his horrible demeanor . However , he operated on my son and did an amazing job . Haven't been back because of insurance reasons , but might try him again .
Honestly, I am not sure why he is a pediatric ophthalmologist because he is not good with kids. My daughter got assessed at 3/4 years old and couldn’t sit still. Instead of creating trust with her, he spoke down to me and was more concerned that she might get into his things. So the next visit I brought my husband, and it was interesting that we got a little bit better treatment with male presence. The only reason I gave him 2 stars is because he is good at the technical side of his job, and helped with the diagnosis of my daughter’s eye. I ended up getting a second opinion because I didn’t trust him as an overall person. Honestly, I am not sure why he is a pediatric ophthalmologist because he is not good with kids. The previous reviews don’t reflect how wonderful this practice is. The staff was phenomenal. Dr Preslan exceeded our expectations. Our 3 year old doesn’t like appointments and the staff was wonderful with him. Scheduling was efficient, office was clean, staff was professional. I would highly recommend this practice.
We have been going to Dr. Preslan for several years. He’s very thorough and proactive. He noticed and treated an issue with my son’s eye early on. My son had to have surgery with him recently and he couldn’t have been nicer. I would absolutely recommend seeing him.
These negative reviews have to be from competitors. I wish all Doctors were as kind and patient as Mark Preslan! He is amazing with my son and has been seeing him for 11 years. He is incredibly knowledgeable about my sons amblyopia strabismus. After my first appointment he even offered to have my husband call his personal number on christmas eve because I was so upset about my sons diagnosis and my husband wasn't there. He is thoughtful, generous and incredible with kids. I've trusted him with my whole world and he has not disappointed me. These negative reviews have to be from competitors. I have nothing but good things to say about Dr. Preslan and his team. Before my son's initial appointment, I was fairly concerned about taking him because of previous reviews and because my son is Autistic and has a hard time with eye appointments. I decided to take him anyways and I am thankful that I decided to see for myself because Dr. Preslan was absolutely wonderful with my son despite my son having difficulty with eye drops and other things. Also, the evening of my son's surgery, Dr. Perslan had personally called me to see if Kai was doing well. We have visited his office several times now and we have always had great experiences. All of his office staff is wonderful as well and my son no longer fears going to the eye doctor. I have nothing but good things to say about Dr. Preslan and his team. We had a horrible experience taking two of our young (2 and 3 year old) children to Dr. Preslan. Our children's eyes have been crossing, which can be a very worrisome condition. Dr. Preslan had ZERO bedside manner, did not communicate what he was doing or finding as he was examining my children, and he was not good with the children. My children's pediatrician urged us strongly that our children should be seen immediately, because the crossing can be very serious, and even the least serious cause should require intervention. Dr. Preslan said that he would not suggest any intervention, just "waiting it out". As a mother, my fears were not assuaged in the slightest. I will be seeking a second opinion, and I'm highly upset that I had to pay even a co-pay to be seen by this man. Dr Preslan is a very unkind doctor and shouldn't be dealing with children. He was so mean to my autistic son!!!. We will never visit him again. His assistants were all nice. He should learn how to be kind and friendly with children.

We had a very poor experience with our young child. The diagnosis was not explained, the processing of insurance was not handled well and the office staff/correspondence was difficult and unprofessional.

I have a child with special needs who was incredibly scared by her experience with Dr. Preslan. He was harsh and unprofessional in his interactions with her and shamed her for feeling scared. We will not be returning.

Amazing my daughter started seeing him when she was 9 Month's old and she is 7 he did her eye surgery I highly recommend him
Horrible Dr, took my 3 yr old girl just because my pediatrician gave me a referal. He didn't took the time to make her feel less frightened he was rough and he should rethink about working with kids, was completely vague about her exam when it came to explain his findings. The office staff is friendly enough but sadly the Dr is not. I woud never go back there or will recommend this place to anyone. Worst eye Dr I've seen in my life and I've been wearing glasses since I was 13. This Dr should realized that there are so many more eye pediatric Dr's out there and he's not the only one. Love this office and my child does too
Great front desk staff, especially Sarah. Went out of her way to help us with medications and scheduling surgery. Dr. Preslan was professional and knowledgable.
I love Dr. Preslan, He has seen all three of my girls and operated twice on one of my daughters. The only reason they cannot continue to see him is because we moved to a different state. He is a wonderful doctor and I have and will continue to refer his office.
My wife and three month old had a very positive experience with Dr. Preslan's Practice. We were able to make a new patient appointment over the phone in a matter of minutes for our son. This practice also has a "cancellation list," which helped us secure an earlier appointment. The staff inside is polite, friendly, and delightful. We found Dr. Preslan to be very knowledgeable and professional. Our wait time was negligible. I would highly recommend this practice for pediatric ophthalmology needs. Very very rude staff!! Unprofessional. They are a pediatric md and have no respect for patients or their parents. Do not explain procedures and make you aware of what is happening. Overall would not recommend. Very slow and office is dirty
Horrible experience! I was written for a 9:45am appointment on a return appointment card and in their system they scheduled me for a 9:30am not to my knowledge. I arrived 10 min late due to a turn around with a detour and when I arrived the front desk lady Courtney was extremely rude upon my arrival I didn't understand why and figured it was a persona issue she was having. After seeing a patient just arrive and be seen before we were I asked her how much longer we were to wait she said they have a full day and that I was a half hour late?!? and it's up to the dr of the flow. That's when I showed her my return appointment card and she replied the system says 9:30am. My daughter would have missed a full day of school. She (Courtney) did not apologize for the mistake on their part for the scheduling just continued with an attitude. I cx and called for another referral from my doctor. If I could give a 1/2 star I would because one star isn't even worth it. Horrible experience! Worst ever. 1st Visit was told a fee was covered by my insurance and not to worry about it, told them to double check cause I didn't want a bill stating other wise and front desk verified and finished appointment. Granted had 3 other people filling same slot so time is not dedicated to just you. Month later got a bill for the "don't worry about it situation". Called up to find out why and what happened and all I got was "fine we will just send it to collections" and hung up on me and refused to answer my call there on. Called Preslan number on the message. Although had phone problems didn't speak till 2nd appointment and he said either pay or go home, he said "I told her to say that to just get you to sign the paperwork". Then he said I gave the front desk lady a hard time about how I asked what I was signing and claimed what I was signing he didn't give me. Gave me very big attitude about that and it is my given right to know and ask about what I am singing not someone who expects me just to sign anything not knowing what it is. He didn't give a care about my son except the money coming out of my pocket. After the appointment he tried to be a good guy and already burned his bridges with me. If you want someone who just wants to take your money and expect you to be a sheep and not question things then go for it, if not find someone else.
