Dr. Mark E. Whitaker

My daughter had a severe ear infection issues and was recommended to Hershey for surgery and reconstruction. Prior to this, other specialists at my location declined to perform the procedure because the complexities involved. Not sure initially about my daughter’s faith but we met Dr Whitaker by the way. I was very nervous about the situation but he was able to diagnose the severity of the issue and what he needed to do. It was a very complex procedure but he calmly assured me he had successfully done it before, so she should be ok. On D-day when we reported for the surgery, it took 4.5 hours to perform the entire procedure. He came out to assured me everything went well despite the complexity of the issue. My daughter recovered successfully and gained her hearing back perfectly. There was no complain about infection, ear discharge and regular chronic pains after the surgery. He continues to check on her after the surgery to make everything was going fine. Dr Whitaker is very professional and polite with his clients. He really takes his time to explain situations to your understanding and kids get along quickly with him with little fear during routine check up. He was really a blessing to my daughter and I will be forever grateful to him and his entire staff.

Not looking forward to seeing the doc if I have to deal with front office staff like I did on the phone. Maybe the scheduling department is in another country because they couldn’t answer any question even down to the location of the office. I was on hold for 22 minutes before this woman who didn’t know where they were located, or what hospital the dr works out of, or any other question I had. It’s taking me 3 weeks to get an appointment when my PCP said immediately. And in an office that’s an hour away from me. I hope the doctors knowledge and bedside manner sure make up for this unaware scheduling technician.

Tried calling as a new patient. Pressed 5 for Dr. Whittaker’s “medical assistant “. I barely got 5 words out of my mouth before the assistant interrupted me, told me I called the wrong number and transferred me to “scheduling”. Her interpersonal skills were severely lacking. I have now been on an endless hold.

After 40+ years of ear problems, numerous surgery's and my share of ENT's Dr Whitaker is one of the better ones. I wear a CI and its not easy to find a doctor you feel comfortable with.. He listens to his patients needs and offers all solutions available. He truly cares and it shows. I trust his opinion

Dr. Mark Whitaker preformed the BAHA Bone Anchored Hearing Aid implant on me. He explained the procedure in detail. I am -one day post-op and ave minimal pain.

Dr. Whitaker took his time with me. He made sure that I understood the procedure. He listened very intently to what I had to say .Always asked if I had anymore questions. He was very kind. Did a good job of explaining. After surgery was concerned about my pain level. Would definitely recommend him.

Dr.Whitaker performed a tympanoplasty and ossiculoplasty on my left ear. A different doctor performed the procedure when I was younger. It was unsuccessful and painful so I was nervous about making another attempt to fix my perforated ear drum, however, Dr. Whitaker's capability and kindness put me at ease. During all consultations and examinations he was great about explaining what he was doing throughout the process and outlined the entire procedure for me. My hearing has already improved!
