Martin Barandes

Dr. Branandes is great. I've been going to him for 20 years. He tells it like it is. He is old school which I love. The new generations might not like his tell it like it is attitude. He is great.

I had a doctor's visit with this "doctor" who turned out to be a major womanizer and told me i had a year max to live (I had no thyroid issues ever before, i was just going to all specialists to find out why I was coughing) and that he would have to cut out my thyroid. Dr. Barandes is great. I have been going to him for 15 years. My mother goes as well. He is great Dr. I have never had a problem. I don't understand the negative reviews. He is friendly. I guess that's a bad thing these days. That's very sad.

My consultation with this physician was very unhelpful. His bedside manner is extremely patronizing and self-righteous. He asked inappropriate, irrelevant questions during our meeting and was unresponsive and unhelpful in follow-up, unavailable personally and only dispensed advice through nurses. Getting correct prescription and dose was very difficult. Would not recommend. ETA: Someone else called him a dirty old man and a dinosaur. ACCURATE. I nearly expected him to be wearing a MAGA hat. Coming to see Dr. Barandes is always a pleasure. I just don't understand all these unhappy people that he is helping or is trying to help. You all are blessed that this man is able to give you attention and answer your questions. Over 50!!! years of experience. Are you kidding me??? Doctor Barandes.. I had a very bad experience scheduling an appointment. I have done it twice and both times the front desk messed up the time of my appointments. I had an appointment at 8.45am, came in early with a baby. I was waiting and waiting. When I raised a question about the doctor being late I was told that according their schedule, my appointment at 1pm. I showed them the sms confirmation, but they just said well the doctor will see you if you wait. Nobody had even bothered to mentioned when I came in that they didn't have me scheduled till 1pm. Dr. Barandes is great but you wait over 2 hours to be seen for a 10 minute appointment. So basically schedule a vacation day to see the Dr.

Wonderful bedside manner. Takes his time answering your questions. Wait time is a bit long but it’s because of his wonderful attention to all his patient.

Simply Amazing. I met with him about 3 weeks ago and I couldn't have asked for a better experience with him. He explains everything very well, is supportive, friendly, knows what he is talking about, and really cares about getting to know you as his patient.

I had an excellent experience at Dr. Barandes' practice, much welcome after my terrible experience with my last endocrinologist (including, but not limited to, 3-hour waits, forgetting who I was at a 2-week follow-up, high copays, a dirty office, and simply writing off my extreme fatigue as "working out too much"). Dr. Barnades gave me a thyroid sonogram, which I haven't received in my course of care thus far, and explained to me what my thyroid looked like compared to a "normal" one. Bloodwork was done on-site by one of his medical assistants, who was excellent. He took time to answer my questions and even provided me with recommendations for an ophthalmologist, primary care doctor, and OBGYN, all with names and addresses from memory. He also put me on a different generic form of synthroid that costs much less than the one I am currently taking. When I remarked at how thorough he was in examining my thyroid and giving me recs to other doctors, he said that it is his "job to be an advocate" for his patients. I left the clean, centrally-located office feeling respected, listened to, and taken care of. Dr. Barandes has definitely gained another lifelong patient. Dirty office, dirty old man who clearly doesn't know what he's doing in the field of endocrinology. Should be retired since he is an ancient dinosaur and hasn't bothered to update his education or skills and his bedside manner sucks as well. Very rude and inappropriate person who belittles his staff and mistreats his patients. I'm glad to have found an excellent endocrinologist at Mt. Sinai. Dr. Barandes is a knowledgable, kind person who I feel is the first endocrinologist to hear what I am saying, and who I trust to do what will give me my life back. I am not very comfortable with western medicine but I feel that this doctor understands his field and is a professional.

I thank God every day that I met this doctor. He was the FIRST doctor out of many in 6 months to do the right thing and take a sonogram of my thyroid along with bloodwork. I have been suffering every day and was told by many doctors it was anxiety, one of whom tried to prescribe me zoloft. Turns out I have Hashimoto's Hypothyroidism after Dr. Barandes looked at my thyroid and got my bloodwork back. Dr. B is incredibly sweet and cares SO much about his patients. Have never been treated so well.

Dr. Barandes has been my specialist for 10 years. He's tremendous and I've recommended him to co-workers and family who needed an endocrinologist. One of the best in NYC Tri-State area. Great bedside manner and his experience is unmatched. I give him a big thumbs up!

I saw Dr Barandes for YEARS and never understood the negative reviews until today. His rude comments left me in tears. It's as if he has a Jeckyl/Hyde personality. Today he was cold and insensitive. I asked him one question about weight gain and my hypothyroidism and he became very critical. He told me that I didn't have the discipline to lose weight & that I didn't want it badly enough. I go to a trainer 3x a week and utilize a nutritionist. He told me to look in the mirror for real help.

Dr Barandes is one, of the few outstanding Professional Dr left in NYC. He is truly a great smart aknowledgeble Dr of the twenty first Century. There are only a few left in the NYC. Dr Barandes is very patient to listen to his patients concerns. A quality rarely found in most MD. I feel so fortunate that my Endocrimologist stop taking my insurance & he referred me to Dr Barandes. Sometimes we get upset with changes, but that change was the very best. Very friendly, attentive and accommodating. Still in the midst of my treatment, so I'll reserve my full review until then, but I feel very comfortable with the entire staff. So far, so VERY good!
